A lack of basic academic skills of junior college students has negatively impacted on the quality of vacational education and student dropout prevention, and yet it is true that there still are unclear alternatives or solutions to come up with that concern. As a way to find out the actual levels of basic academic skills of junior college students and educational efforts to improve these skills, the study investigated prior studies and benchmarked strengths and weaknesses of the related educational programs and supporting systems operated by ten junior colleges around the nation. Further, the study addressed emerging issues and challenges related to basic academic skills, based on the case study of D college. Major research methodologies included literature review, surveys for students and faculty members and focus-group interviews of faculty members in order to examine the states of students' basic academic skills in the area of language, in particular. Accordingly, the study proposed several suggestions with which educational practitioners could assist in supporting students to acquire improved basic academic skills(such as the development of a competence-based curriculum, implementation of reliable diagnosis tools and supporting educational systems for evaluating students' basic academic skills and upgrading of diverse teaching and learning resources and methods).

The informatics computer teacher appointment examination is the only national test to measure the competence of educators in teaching students relevant informatics content. The purpose of this study is to provide suggestions and directions for improvement of the informatics computer teacher appointment exam. To this end, we collected appointment exam questions from 2002, when the informatics computer teacher appointment exam first started, to 2017. Based on evaluation areas and evaluation content factors of the indication subject of informatics computer, we built the analysis framework and criteria used in this study. The analysis took into account the revision of basic required courses and changes in the types of exam questions. We analyzed the percentage of points allotted to the subject matter compared to the total number of points, and also the trends of exam questions by school year. The results of the analysis are as follows: first, improvements should be made to avoid concentration in certain areas of the basic required courses of the informatics computer subject. Second, the discrepancy between the exam and the curriculum of basic required courses must be addressed to properly teach and evaluate preliminary teachers. It is significant that this study serves as a stepping stone in supplying highly competent teachers to the field through improving the informatics computer teacher appointment examination.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data that can be used in a reasonable assessment of the learning outcomes of STEAM. It presented a learning outcome evaluation method, relative weights of key competencies standard that a learner should cultivate. For this study, a pairwise comparison questionnaire about the key competencies was conducted on the STEAM professionals, and AHP was applied to analyze the priority of main factors of key competencies. The results of this study are as follows. First, the importance of capabilities of convergence accomplishment and capabilities of convergent cognition, in the first layer of key competencies, were 39.4% and 36.8%, respectively. In the education evaluation of the STEAM, capabilities of convergence accomplishment and capabilities of convergent cognition showed similar level of importance, and were considered more important factor than capabilities of convergence attitude (23.8%). Second, the relative importance of capabilities of problem solving (20.0%) was highest in the second layer of key competencies, and followed by capabilities of creative thinking (18.3%), responsibility (15.3%), and understanding convergence knowledge (11.0%). Third, it will be a foundation of a competency evaluation, which reasonably evaluates, based on the relative weights, whether to accomplish educational objectives of the STEAM program In addition, this results is expected to become a guide to develop an education program that can improve the teaching and learning process and raise the learning outcome, as well as an education evaluation of the STEAM.
Objective: The purpose of the present study is to develop a teacher efficacy scale of early childhood teachers and explore the validity and reliability of it. Methods: As the first step of this research, 17 teacher efficacy factors were extracted from previous studies on related areas and a survey from directors, teachers, and professors. The aim of this paper is to establish the theoretical foundation on "the integrative study of the character education for the promotion of social and emotional competencies of children.". Based on the social and emotional learning(SEL), this paper is tried to find out the effective ways to develop children's good character. According to SEL, social and emotional competence is the ability to understand, manage, and express the social and emotional aspects of one's life in ways that enable the successful management of life tasks such as learning, forming relationships, solving everyday problems, and adapting to the complex demands of growth and development. And it is also the process of acquiring and effectively applying the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to recognize and manage emotions. Five key competencies such as self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision making, self-management, relationship skills are taught, practiced, and reinforced through SEL programming. Both the social and emotional learning movement and the character education share in common the idea that much of human character can be modified for the better through learning. While character educators engage in developing civic virtue and moral character in our youth for more compassionate and responsible society, SEL educators engage in educating for a safe, secure, caring society. To effectively teach social and emotional competencies, the teachers themselves must embrace a teaching and learning philosophy that models the attitudes, feelings, and behaviors we aim to teach.

This study investigated and analyzed the contents of writing learning, self-evaluation of writing ability, recognition of writing ability, and recognition of writing education direction to J university students in order to analyze the perception of writing of university students and find ways to improve writing education. Through this, the improvement plan of writing education was discussed. As a result of researching and analyzing the perceptions of university students, college students perceived writing ability as important, and they wanted practical writing classes that received feedback and wrote actual writing rather than theoretical classes. In addition, it was found that they wanted to develop their ability to construct and develop the contents of the article. In order to make writing education a practical competency for college students, theoretical lectures are important, but it is necessary to give enough time and opportunity to write in practice, and to develop customized practical writing. Also, it is necessary to make writing class that students can participate through various teaching methods, and to make writing ability lead to practical competence even after graduation through the method of university graduation certification requirements. This study is meaningful in that it can seek the direction of university writing education through the recognition of college students related to writing.

The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of non-face-to-face classes conducted due to the COVID-19 crisis. In order to achieve this goal, a non-face-to-face class with flipped learning was applied in one subject of clothing major held at 'S' University in Cheongju, Korea. In addition, this study tried to analyze the differences between pre- and post-non-face-to-face classes in problem analysis ability, resource/information/technology literacy, convergent thinking ability as core competencies, and overall learning satisfaction. As a result, after participating in the non-face-to-face class in which the flipped learning was applied, the students recognized that their abilities improved in the three problem-solving competency sub-areas, and their overall learning satisfaction also increased. The effectiveness of non-face-to-face classes in the field of clothing and fashion has been mainly measured in fashion design and clothing construction courses. However, based on the results of this study, it can be suggested that non-face-to-face classes in a theory-oriented lecture-type class can be effective methods for improving students' core competencies such as problem-solving skills if teaching-learning methods such as flipped learning are applied. Therefore, the results of this study will be useful data for designing differentiated non-face-to-face class strategies in a theory-oriented lecture-type class to improve the core competencies of college students.
