Analyzing of Construction Safety Planning Tasks for Performance Improvement Using Importance Performance Analysis Method (IPA 분석을 활용한 주요 건설안전 계획업무 도출에 관한 연구)

  • The main purpose of the study is to reduce the accident death rate in the construction industry. To achieve this goal, the safety planning tasks were analyzed and assessed in terms of the importance and preventive effects of the tasks. Through the extensive literature reviews, the safety planning tasks were identified and reviewed by safety managers. based on the safety planning tasks developed in the previous stage, a survey was conducted in order to receive responses by experts with knowledge on the effects and importance of preventive measures for safety. Then, the Importance Performance Analysis(IPA) method was employed to identify the safety manager's tasks that have an effect on performance indicators. Advice and guidance on making the employment rules, etc. (#18) and details about participation and consultation at the Occupational Safety and Health Committee (#16) were found to require revision and improvement of details and guidelines. The effective safety tasks identified are expected to have a critical role in reducing the accident death rate in the construction industry.

The Analysis of Mathematical Tasks for developing the core competencies in High School "Mathematics" textbook (고등학교 <수학>교과서에 제시된 교과 역량 과제 분석)

  • In this paper, we analyzed the levels of cognitive demand of the tasks for developing t he mathematical core competencies presented in the "Mathematics" textbook of the first y ear of high school developed according to the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum. "Mathematics" textbook included 4999 mathematics tasks, of which 703 were tasks for developing the mathematical competency. Analysis of 703 mathematical tasks according to the analysis framework of Stein, Smith, Henningsen, and Silver (2000) showed that 61.5% of students required high cognitive levels, 38.5% required low cognitive levels, and the types of tasks were as follows: Low-M 1.0%, Low-P 37.5%, High-P 57.8%, High-D 3.7%. It w as found that most of the tasks for the purpose were tasks that led to understanding mathematical concepts, principles, and processes along procedural processes.

DACUM Job Analysis on Elementary Health Teachers' Roles (초등학교 보건교사의 역할에 대한 DACUM 직무분석)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the roles, duties and tasks of elementary health teachers. Required knowledge, skills, and worker behaviors were also examined. Methods: Elementary health teachers' jobs were analyzed by DACUM workshop. First, the health teachers' roles and related jobs were described, and then the jobs were divided into duties and subordinate tasks. The identified roles, duties and tasks were reviewed and refined, and then were organized in a DACUM chart. DACUM committee members discussed not only general knowledge, skills and work behaviors but also future trends and concerns. Results: The DACUM chart for elementary health teachers consisted of 8 duties and 52 tasks. Required knowledge, skills and worker behaviors were also listed. Conclusion: Elementary health teachers play roles as health manager, health care provider, and teacher in school. Their roles, duties and tasks are being changed. Thus, their jobs need to be redefined legally, politically, and institutionally.

Electromyographic Analysis of Upper and Lower Limb Muscles during Gardening Tasks

  • Movements of the upper and lower limb muscles during five common gardening tasks were analyzed by using electromyography (EMG). Twenty adults aged in their twenties (mean age, $24.8{\pm}2.4$ years) were recruited. On two separate occasions, subjects visited a garden plot to perform digging, raking, troweling, weeding, and hoeing; all tasks were performed three times with 20 s intervals for each trial. To measure muscle activation during the five gardening tasks, surface EMG was used. Bipolar surface EMG electrodes were attached to eight upper limb muscles (bilateral anterior deltoid, biceps brachialis, brachioradialis, and flexor carpi ulnaris) or eight lower limb muscles (bilateral vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, biceps femoris, and gastrocnemius) on both sides of the body, for a total of 16 muscles. During the five tasks, photographs were taken of movement phases using a digital video camera. The right flexor carpi ulnaris and brachioradialis showed higher activation than the other upper and lower limb muscles measured during the tasks. All 16 upper and lower limb muscles were actively used only during digging. According to movement analysis of each activity, digging was classified into four movement phases, whereas raking, troweling, weeding, and hoeing each were divided into three movement phases. In each activity, there were high-impact phases in terms of muscle activation; the flexor carpi ulnaris and brachioradialis were identified as major muscles in each impact phase. This analysis may be used to generate biomechanical profiles of gardening tasks for practitioners when designing efficient gardening interventions for physical health or rehabilitation.

Development of a Task Analysis Method and Classification of Emergency Tasks for Human Error Analysis in Nuclear Power Plants (원자력발전소 오류분석을 위한 직무분석 방법의 개발 및 직무유형 분류)

  • For human error analysis, the structure and situation of a task should be analyzed in advance. The paper introduces Structured Information Analysis (SIA) as a task analysis method for error analysis, and delineates the result of application on the emergency procedure of Korean Standard Nuclear Plants (KSNPs). From the task analysis about emergency procedure of KSNP, total 72 specific task goals were identified in the level of system function, and 86 generic tasks were classified from the viewpoint of physical sameness of the task description. Human errors are dependent on task types so that the result of task analysis would be used as a basis for the error analysis on the emergency tasks in nuclear power plants.

  • Instructional materials including problem situations or problems or tasks on real-life situations are considered as an important and significant factor to lead a successful math instruction. MiC Textbook is a representative one showing good examples and tasks including fluent realistic situations on the basis of the background of the Freudenthal's theory. This study explores concretely and in detail the type of level of mathematical tasks, by the subject of MiC Textbook. To accomplish this, this study reconstructs and establishes an elaborated analysis framework using 'the cognitive demand level' suggested by Stein, et, al. The cognitive demand level is comprized of four elements such as Memorization Tasks, Procedures Without Connections Tasks, Procedures With Connections Tasks, and Doing Mathematics Tasks. Memorization Tasks and Procedures Without Connections Tasks are considered as low level tasks, and Procedures With Connections Tasks and Doing Mathematics Tasks are as high level tasks. MiC Textbook is comprized of the four areas of 'number', 'algebra', 'geometry and measurement', and 'data analysis and statistics'. This study deals with the tasks relevant to Function content dealt with in MiC 3 level Textbook, and explore the level of cognitive demands on each task.

Pre-service Secondary Mathematics Teachers' Understanding and Modification of Tasks in Mathematics Textbooks (수학교과서 문제에 대한 예비중등교사의 이해 및 변형 능력)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate preservice secondary teachers' understanding and modification capacity of tasks from mathematics textbooks. This study conducted a survey about how preservice teachers understand the features of mathematical tasks and how they would select and modify tasks appropriately from the curriculum and for lesson goals. The findings from the analysis suggest that the preservice teachers seem to recognize Procedures Without Connections tasks as the high-level tasks. Further, 43 percent of the total numbers appropriately selected the tasks from the curriculum and for lesson goals. Most of the preservice teachers appear to find it difficult to modify low-level tasks into high-level tasks.

A FACETS Analysis of Rater Characteristics and Rater Bias in Measuring L2 Writing Performance

  • The present study used multi-faceted Rasch measurement to explore the characteristics and bias patterns of non-native raters when they scored L2 writing tasks. Three raters scored 254 writing tasks written by Korean university students on two topics adapted from the TOEFL Test of Written English (TWE). The written products were assessed using a five-category rating scale (Content, Organization, Language in Use, Grammar, and Mechanics). The raters only showed a difference in severity with regard to rating categories but not in task types. Overall, the raters scored Grammar most harshly and Organization most leniently. The results also indicated several bias patterns of ratings with regard to the rating categories and task types. In rater-task bias interactions, each rater showed recurring bias patterns in their rating between two writing tasks. Analysis of rater-category bias interaction showed that the three raters revealed biased patterns across all the rating categories though they were relatively consistent in their rating. The study has implications for the importance of rater training and task selection in L2 writing assessment.

Guidelines for selecting proper user interfaces for office tasks (사무작업에 적합한 사용자 인터페이스의 선택기준)

  • Many different types of computer user interfaces are used to perform office tasks. Although some guidelines are proposed for selecting user interfaces appropriate to perform differnet tasks, they have not been supported by empirical studies. This study examined five user interface styles and their combinations which were used to perform representative office tasks. A variety of analysis techniques such as brainstorming, analytic hierarchy process, prototyping, and expert opinions were employed to evaluate the usability of the interfaces. Also, a human factors experiment was conducted to validate empirically the analysis results. The analysis procedures and results are described along with guidelines for selecting user interfaces in terms of subjective preferences and performance measures.

  • This paper describes the development of a simulation model of nuclear power plant operators including cognitive aspects by using a network modeling soft ware, Micro-SAINT (System Analysis of Integrated Networks of Tasks) for the analysis of operator performance. Network model description based on Micro-SAINT includes tasks, resources, precedence relations among tasks, flow of information and PSFs (Performance Shaping Factors) on task performance. We have tried to evaluate the performance with several performance measures such as the number of tasks allocated, relative time presure among operators within a shift, for the selected test accident scenarior; small-break LOCA (Loss of Coolant Accident) in a PWR (Pressurized Water Reactor) type nuclear power plant.
