For effective bi-static sonar operation, detection performance analysis must be performed reflecting the characteristics of sound propagation due to the ocean environment and target information. However, previous studies analyzing bistatic sonar detection performance have either not considered the ocean environment and target characteristics or have been conducted using simplified approaches. Therefore, in this study, we compared and analyzed the bistatic detection performance in Yellow sea and Ulleung basin both with and without considering target characteristics. A numerical analysis model was used to derive an accurate bistatic target strength for the submarine-shaped target, and signal excess was calculated by reflecting the simulated target strength. As a result, significant changes in detection performance were observed depending on the source and receiver locations as well as the target strength.
In stochastic hyperspectral target detection algorithms, the target signal components may be included in the background characterization if targets are not rare in the image, causing target leakage. In this paper, the effect of target leakage is analysed and an improved hyperspectral target detection method is proposed by excluding the pixels which have similar reflectance spectrum with the target in the process of background characterization. Experimental results using the AISA airborne hyperspectral data and simulated data with artificial targets show that the proposed method can dramatically improve the target detection performance of matched filter and adaptive cosine estimator. More studies on the various metrics for measuring spectral similarity and adaptive method to decide the appropriate amount of exclusion are expected to increase the performance and usability of this method.

In this paper, a new realtime algorithm called the RTPBTD-HPDAF (Recursive Temporal Profile Base Target Detection with Highest Probability Data Association Filter) is presented for tracking fast moving small targets with IIR (Imaging Infrared) sensor systems. Spatial filter algorithms are mainly used for target in IIR sensor system detection and tracking however they often generate high density clutter due to various shapes of cloud. The TPBTD (Temporal Profile Base Target Detection) algorithm based on the analysis of temporal behavior of individual pixels is known to have good performance for detection and tracking of fast moving target with suppressing clutter. However it is not suitable to detect stationary and abruptly maneuvering targets. Moreover its computational load may not be negligible. The PTPBTD-HPDAF algorithm proposed in this paper for real-time target detection and tracking is shown to be computationally cheap while it has benefit of tracking targets with abrupt maneuvers. The performance of the proposed RTPBTD-HPDAF algorithm is tested and compared with the spatial filter with HPDAF algorithm for run-time and track initiation at real IIR video.

In this paper, we propose a fast small target detection method using multiple filters, and describe system implementation using IPP libraries. To detect small targets in Infra-Red images, it is mandatory that you should apply a filter to eliminate a background and identify the target information. Moreover, by using a suitable algorithm for the environments and characteristics of the target, the filter must remove the background information while maintaining the target information as possible. For this reason, in the proposed method we have detected small targets by applying multi area(spatial) filters in a low luminous environment. In order to apply the multi spatial filters, the computation time can be increased exponentially in case of the sequential operation. To build this algorithm in real-time systems, we have applied IPP library to secure a software optimization and reduce the computation time. As a result of applying real environments, we have confirmed a detection rate more than 90%, also the computation time of the proposed algorithm have been improved about 90% than a typical sequential computation time.

We have studied an efficient threshold level for desired target detection in radar system in the paper. A desired target searching detection method detects desired target according to changing for false alarm probability. This time, false alarm probability is close relation to threshold level. Low threshold level can improve detection for desired target, but detect noise signal. Therefor, This method is not good one. In this paper, we propose efficient threshold level method in order to estimation for desired target. Through simulation, we are analysis and performance to compare general method with proposal method. We show that proposed method is more good proof than general method.

In this study, a target detection algorithm was proposed for using hyperspectral imagery. The proposed algorithm is designed to have minimal processing time, low false alarm rate, and flexible threshold selection. The target detection procedure can be divided into two steps. Initially, candidates of target pixel are extracted using matching ratio of spectral pattern that can be calculated by spectral derivation. Secondly, spectral distance is computed only for those candidates using Euclidean distance. The proposed two-step method showed lower false alarm rate than the Euclidean distance detector applied over the whole image. It also showed much lower processing time as compared to the Mahalanobis distance detector.
Considering the high dimensions of video sequences, it is often challenging to acquire a sufficient dataset to train the tracking models. From this perspective, we propose to revisit the idea of hand-crafted feature learning to avoid such a requirement from a dataset. The proposed tracking approach is composed of two phases, detection and tracking, according to how severely the appearance of a target changes. The detection phase addresses severe and rapid variations by learning a new appearance model that classifies the pixels into foreground (or target) and background. We further combine the raw pixel features of the color intensity and spatial location with convolutional feature activations for robust target representation. The tracking phase tracks a target by searching for frame regions where the best pixel-level agreement to the model learned from the detection phase is achieved. Our two-phase approach results in efficient and accurate tracking, outperforming recent methods in various challenging cases of target appearance changes.
A detection algorithm, based on the combined local-global (CLG) optical-flow model and Gaussian pyramid for a moving target appearing against a dynamic background, can compensate for the inadaptability of the classic Horn-Schunck algorithm to illumination changes and reduce the number of needed calculations. Incorporating the hypothesis of gradient conservation into the traditional CLG optical-flow model and combining structure and texture decomposition enable this algorithm to minimize the impact of illumination changes on optical-flow estimates. Further, calculating optical-flow with the Gaussian pyramid by layers and computing optical-flow at other points using an optical-flow iterative with higher gray-level points together reduce the number of calculations required to improve detection efficiency. Finally, this proposed method achieves the detection of a moving target against a dynamic background, according to the background motion vector determined by the displacement and magnitude of the optical-flow. Simulation results indicate that this algorithm, in comparison to the traditional Horn-Schunck optical-flow algorithm, accurately detects a moving target undergoing illumination changes against a dynamic background and simultaneously demonstrates a significant reduction in the number of computations needed to improve detection efficiency.

This paper presents a novel method which can detect a target in IR image for active protection system. The target in IR image for the active protection system is small, moreover it moves with enormous speed. The proposed algorithm is comprised of robust clutter rejection methods and target optimized detection algorithms for small target, and an advanced method of selecting a final target position in target area, it can work in some milliseconds. The proposed algorithm provides the active protective system with more correct positions than those of radar, so that helps the active protection system can defense all threats with the utmost precision.

As the need of automatized system has been increased recently together with the development of industrial and military technologies, the adaptive real-time target detection technologies that can be embedded on vehicles, planes, ships, robots and so on, are hgihly demanded. Accordingly, this paper proposes a novel approach to detect and segment the moving targets using the binary phase extraction joint transform correlator (BPEJTC), the advanced image subtraction filter and convex hull processing. The BPEJTC which was used as a target detection unit mainly for target tracking compensating the camera movement. The target region has been detected by processing the successful three frames using the advanced image subtraction filter, and has become more accurate by applying the developed convex hull filter. As shown by some experimental results, it is expected that the proposed approaches for compensation of the camera movement and segmentationof of target region, can be used for th emissile guiddance, aero surveillance, automatic inspectin system as well as the target detection unit of automatic target recognition system that request adaptive real-time processing.
