  • LAN Emulation and IPOA are the two most widei y accepted network protocols which allow to provide conventional LAN-based data services on ATM LAN environment. In this paper, the performance of IPOA and LAN Emulation on ATM LAN testbed is compared and the results are compared with performance of Ethernet as well. For performance comparison, metrics such as application throughput, latency, CPU usage are used. In addition, a network program that uses the socket based TCP/IP application programming interface to send large data files from client to server via ATM LAN switch is developed. IPOA provides lower latency and higher throughput than LAN Emulation while LAN Emulation consumes more CPU usage.

  • Demands on dealing with multimedia data through the network have been increased, and networking multimedia devices require processing, transmitting , and receiving the digital data. In order to implement the network for high performance and low cost, we may have to integrate the dedicated hardware into a system on a chip by spending an extra amount of silicon resource. In this paper, we describe hardware implementation of TCP/IP protocol stack which is now popular to connect multiple PCs and peripherals by means of networks. For evaluation we used ALTERA APEX 20K600EBC652 FPGA with 600,000 gates. The operating frequency is estimated 29.9MHz and it used area of $26\%$.

  • Recently, remote observation and control technology has grown gradually. According to use home network system and expand super-highway information network, digital video technology observation system gradually has increased. In order that the user conveniently use better than to use web browser observation system, it uses existing digital observation system, personal digital assistant and control module in the place of internet.

  • This paper investigates protocol architecture for a web-sensor gateway interconnecting internet and wireless sensor network, in which Zigbee sensors are connected over the IEEE802.15.4 communication protocol standard. The web-sensor gateway is to deliver data between TCP/IP and Zigbee/IEEE802.15.4 protocols, transparently. Since the gateway provides a means to remotely control and aggregate sensor data over the internet, it needs to be designed in the view point of users and in their convenience. In accordance, the common gateway interface technology satisfying users on the web browser to efficiently manage and query the sensors in the wireless sensor networks, ubiquitously, is also introduced. Finally, a simulation prototype for the web-sensor gateway is proposed and verified using OPNET simulation tool.

  • KEPRI, the research institute for KEPCO, has started developing a DAS using wireless communication networks since 1999. The wireless networks adopted Radio Link Protocol (RLP) of Personal Communication Service (PCS) as communication protocol. It is the first time that PCS is applied to data networks for DAS. The communication protocol, RLP, makes the DAS networks simple and economically affordable when they are installed at widely dispersed small cities. But, RLP has problem when it send unsolicited message. This paper describes the implementing method of a wireless network using RLP and TCP/IP Network to cope with unsolicited message problem.

  • This paper presents a precision position control of induction motor using disturbance observer to reduce disturbance effects. It shows that proposed algorithm is strong in induction motor precision control for disturbance change. This system with disturbance observer using deadbeat control, which has high benefit, is good for quick disturbance compensation. To show this effectiveness the whole process is simulated by simulink, and also experimented by DSP6416 with TCP-IP network board.

  • We must design the buffer algorithm that protects traffic congestion and decreasing throughput at satellite communication network. It is important that buffer algorithm is satisfied with the good performance of transmission packet, responsibility of many connecting traffic and the QOS for connecting character. Old buffer algorithms are not the suitable algorithms when we have the satellite communication network environment. RED buffer algorithm is proposed by Floyd. It has a better performance than old buffer algorithm. But this algorithm is not well adapted a number of connecting TCP packet and changing network, so this algorithm has a bad performance on satellite communication network that is many of connecting user at same time. This paper propose the TARED(Target Adaptive RED). It has a good performance, adaptation and stability on satellite communication network and has not overflow and underflow of the buffer level.

  • This paper proposes the construction of intelligent home network system using Power Line Communication(PLC) technique, which allows for UPnP bridge remote control and monitoring based on TCP/IP. Also, the communication for control module inside intelligent home network systems is designed with Simple Control Protocol (SCP) in which each device is connected to be controlled independently. When new UPnP device is additionally installed in intelligent home network systems, it is monitored through UPnP bridges based on its registered UPnP device information. The device control based on PLC and implementation of each UPnP device are effectively managed by using TCP/IP remote control and it's provided fundamental functions to monitor various device information in the home network.

  • A high assurance IP encryption (HAIPE) compliant protocol accelerator is proposed for military networks consisting of red (or classified) networks and black (or unclassified) networks. The boundary between red and black sides is assumed to be protected via a HAIPE device. However, the IP layer encryption introduces challenges for bandwidth on demand satellite communication. The problems experienced by transmission control protocol (TCP) over satellites are well understood: While standard modems (on the black side) employ TCP performance enhancing proxy (PEP) which has been shown to work well, the HAIPE encryption of TCP headers renders the onboard modem's PEP ineffective. This is attributed to the fact that under the bandwidth-on-demand environment, PEP must use traditional TCP mechanisms such as slow start to probe for the available bandwidth of the link (which eliminates the usefulness of the PEP). Most implementations recommend disabling the PEP when a HAIPE device is used. In this paper, we propose a novel solution, namely broadband HAIPE-embeddable satellite communications terminal (BHeST), which utilizes dynamic network performance enhancement algorithms for high latency bandwidth-on-demand satellite links protected by HAIPE. By moving the PEP into the red network and exploiting the explicit congestion notification bypass mechanism allowed by the latest HAIPE standard, we have been able to regain PEP's desired network enhancement that was lost due to HAIPE encryption (even though the idea of deploying PEP at the modem side is not new). Our BHeST solution employs direct video broadcast-return channel service (DVB-RCS), an open standard as a means of providing bandwidth-on-demand satellite links. Another issue we address is the estimation of current satellite bandwidth allocated to a remote terminal which is not available in DVBRCS. Simulation results show that the improvement of our solution over FIX PEP is significant and could reach up to 100%. The improvement over the original TCP is even more (up to 500% for certain configurations).
