  • TCM offers considerable coding gains without compromising bandwidth or signal power. But TCM decoder is more complex than convolutional Viterbi decoder. Because, the number of branches exponentially increased by the constraint length and input symbol bits. The parallelism of ACS and memory management technique of SPMM is one of the important factor for speed-up and hardware complexity. This paper proposes a multi-processing technique of ACS and also gives a memory management technique of SPMM in TCM decoders.

The Evaluation of Eye Dose and Image Quality According to The New Tube Current Modulation and Shielding Techniques in Brain CT (두부 CT에서 차폐기법과 새로운 관전류변조기법에 따른 눈의 선량과 화질평가)

  • The eye of human is a radiation sensitive organ and this organ should be shielded from radiation exposure during brain CT procedures. In the brain CT procedures, bismuth protector using to reduce the radiation exposure dose for eye. But protecting the bismuth always accompanies problem of the image quality reduction including artifact. This study aim is the eye radiation exposure dose and image quality evaluation of the new tube current modulation such as new organ based-tube current modulation, longitudinal-TCM, angular-TCM between shielding scan technique using bismuth and lead glasses. As a result, radiation dose of eye is reduced 25.88% in new OB TCM technique then reference scan technique and SNR new OB TCM is 6.05 higher than bismuth shielding scan technique and lower than reference scan technique. In clinical brain CT, new OB TCM technique will contribute to reduction of radiation dose for eye without decrease of image quality.

Performance Analysis of Trellis Coded OFDM/M-ary PSK Systems in the presence of tarrier Frequency Offset (반송파 주파수 오프셋의 존재하에서 Trellis Coded OFDM/M-ary PSK 시스템의 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, the BER performance of OFDM/M-ary PSK systems is analyzed with considering carrier-frequency offset and TCM technique, which encodes and modulations simultaneously, is adopted to OFDWM-ary PSK systems for compensation of performance degradation according to carrier-frequency offset. As a result of analysis, the error performance of OFDM/M-ary PSK systems is degraded as the frequency offset is increased. And the frequency offset should be below 0.025 in order to achieve $BER= 10^{-3}$ with $E_b/N_o$ of 10 dB. Especially, when the TCM technique is adopted to OFDM/M-ary PSK systems, the performance improvement of about 4 dB is obtained in terms of $E_b/N_o$.

  • On band limited channel like satellite communication and voice communication. TCM(Trellis Coded Modulation) is a communication method that has coding gain which combines modulation with channel coding without bandwidth expansion. In this paper, we apply PAM, PSK, QAM to TCM, and propose the extended path back method decoding algorithm which improved drawback of viterbi decoding algorithm and apply to TCM this decoding algorithm. Using Monte Carlo simulation, we analyze performance of each modulation technique and efficiency of decoding algorithm.

  • In this paper, we composed orthogonal multi carrier FH/CDMA system using frequency hopping sequence. Considering hit possibilities by delayed other user's signals we searched the optimal number of user access carrier slots not to influence on performance deterioration with the variation of number of carrier slots according to the number of user access carrier slots. A]io, we evaluated the BER performance improvement due to TCM and Concatenated coding technique by computer simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient iteration control method with low complexity for Turbo TCM(Turbo Trellis Coded Modulation) decoding which will be used fur power-limited environment. As the decoding approaches the performance limit of a given turbo code, any further iteration results in very little improvement. Therefore, it is important to devise an efficient criterion to stop the iteration process and prevent unnecessary computations and decoding delay. This paper presents an efficient algorithm for turbo TCM decoding that can greatly reduce the delay and iteration number. The proposed method use adaptive iteration number according to the criterion using the extrinsic information variance parameter in turbo TCM decoding process. The simulation results show that the proposed technique effectively can reduce the decoding delay and computation with very little performance degradation.

  • Recently the design of SoCs(System-on-Chips) in which TCM is embedded for high speed operation increases rapidly. In this paper, a parallel test structure for eDRAM-based TCM embedded in SoCs is proposed. In the presented technique, the MUT (Memory Under Test) is changed to parallel structure and it increases testability of MUT with boundary scan chains. The eDRAM is designed in structure for parallel test so that it can be tested for each modules. Dynamic test can be performed based on input-output data. The proposed techniques are verified their performance by circuits simulation.

  • Objectives : The aims of this study were to introduce the theory of traditional Chinese orthopedic theory(整脊理論) and to analyze the guideline of diagnosis and treatment of common spinal disorders by treating Chinese spinal manipulation technique(常見病中醫整脊指南). Methods : We have searched the web sites of traditional Chinese orthopedics association (整脊學會), a branch of the China academy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and related articles. Additionally, we analyzed the guideline of diagnosis and treatment of common spinal disorders by treating Chinese spinal manipulation technique which was introduced by that association at 7th academic conference in China in 2011. Results : The guideline was prepared by 2 year project leaded by professor Yi-zhong Wei who was a person in charge of the spinal manipulation guideline of national standardization committee of TCM in China. It was a summary of the whole theory of China spinal manipulation therapy in TCM and contained 22 common spinal disorders by the treatment of traditional Chinese Tuina methods. Spinal manipulation theory was summarized by one doctrine, two theories, and two important view points. The treatment method was abstracted as 8 major Tuina techniques. Conclusions : The guideline will be a way of advance of Chinese spinal manipulation technique. This will be a good reference to Korea Chuna manipulation for improving their techniques.

Sensory and Texture Properties of Seasoned Tofu Containing Freshwater Crab Meat (참게육 첨가 맛두부의 조직 및 관능 특성)

  • To optimize the mixing ratio of ingredients for optimal sensory qualities of seasoned tofu, a response surface methodology with a central composite design was performed on tofu containing freshwater crab meat (TCM). Using the desirability function technique, the optimal formulation was determined to be 3.67 g of freeze dried meat, 5.54 g of garlic powder, and 2,120 mL of soymilk. In the texture profile analysis, tofu prepared using the optimal ingredient ratio had a higher hardness, cohesiveness and gumminess than commercial tofu but TCM value for adhesiveness, springiness and chewiness were lower. However, the texture properties of TCM were not significantly different than those of commercial tofu.

  • In mobile communication, the performance of QAM technique is poor under deep fading even though Rayleigh channel characteristics are estimated and compensated. In this paper, we analyze the performance of 3/4 Trellis coded 16QAM in Rayleigh channel where burst errors are randomized by bit reversal block interleaver, and TCM coder is designed by computer search to be adequate for Rayleigh channel. The simulation results show that the interleaver has 2dB gain, the modified Viterbi decoder has 2.5dB, and diversity has 9dB gain at $P_{b}b/=10^{-3}$. This indicates that the 3/4 TC 16QAM is applicable to digital mobile communication with good performance.
