A Study on Evaluation of MTCM with Optimum Encoder (최적부호기의 MTCM 성능 이득에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper. for $\pi$/4 and $\pi$/8 PSK. we proposed to condition to obtain coding gain increasing states, by design encoder of analytical method with minimal complexity in limited bandwidth and power channels. In order to improve the bit error rate(BER), comparing Ungerboeck designed the TCM. we propose MTCM(Multiple trellis-coded modulation) with multiplicity(k=2), by optimum encoder design. By design encoder of analytical method. the trellis encoder can be minimal complexity and the decoder be used Viterbi decoder(MLSE). When compared to the TCM and MTCM with AWGN channels. the condition of performance enhancement of the MTCM with multiplicity(k=2) is the case of parallel transition in TCM systems. without alternating data transmission rate in bandwidth and power limited channels.

  • In order to enhance the confidence in the mobile communication and improve the performance of the bit error, we have been using coding method. In the case of this, we have to add redundancy bits by using error correcting codes such as the block or convolutional codes. However, the result of redundancy bits causes to improve confidence. but to drop the efficiency in the bandwidth. We have studied coding method that we are able to get the good coding gain without any changes in the data transmission rates in the limited bandwidth. In this Paper, we design TCM(Trellis Coded Modulation) which was proposed by Ungerboeck and MTCM(Multiple TCM), with multiplicity(k=2), which was proposed by Divsalar, using the optimum encoder. As state number is varied in the optimum encoder, we compare the performance of the TCM and MTCM by using Monte Carlo simulation.

  • Recently, research on the enhancement of the conventional VSB scheme for DTV signal transmission have been done. Not to affect on the performance of the widely spread conventional receivers and at the same time be able to receive the enhanced stream. there have been efforts to enhance the coding scheme which is backward compatible with the conventional method. The conventional schemes proposed so far is based on the idea of combining a new trellis encoder with the standard 8-VSB trellis encoder. In this paper, we Propose serial concatenated turbo TCM scheme which combines two trellis encoder with the interleaver between them. We compare the performance of the proposed scheme and the existing scheme through computer simulation.

  • In this paper the Viterbi decoder which is used for TCM decoding in wireless modem system under transmission of audio data for the high quality sound is designed by VHDL and implemented by FPGA. After making short explanation about TCM encoding and decoding. I show the effect of channel in computer by using encoder and decoder implemented in FOGA and the bit error rate according to change rate of ($E_b/N_0$).

  • This paper describes TCM(trellis coded modulation) schemes using 32VSB signal for digital CATV system. First we design optimum encoder with code rate 4/5 for 32VSB by using one dimenstional signal constellation and obtain 0.75-4.38 dB coding gains over the existing uncoded 16VSB. Second by using two dimensional signal constellation we design TCM encoders with code rate 9/10, which are better in the power efficienty (0.5-2.27 dB) and the transmission rate(12.5%), and we also design TCM encoders which have more coding gains than one dimensional TCM encoders for the larger number of states(more than 8 states).

  • This paper introduces an encoder design method of Turbo TCM (Trellis Coded Modulation) with symbol puncturing. TTCM consists of two simple trellis codes in parallel and modulator. To obtain an good encoder, we calculate the free distance by the assumption that the punctured symbol is transmitted from the subset that consist of signals with the same systematic bit at random. We develop a search program to find the component encoder which maximize the free distance. Especially, for 8-PSK with code rate 2/3, we search for the component codes. We find a new encoder which has better BER performance than that of Robertson′s encoder. We verify the results through the simulation."

  • In this paper, an optimum TCM(trellis coded modulation)combined with CPM(continuous phase modulation) signal is investigated, and the performances are evaluated on the two-ray fading channel, which is one of the well-known frequency-selected because of their relatively good power and spectrum efficiency, and the modulation index is varied from 0.1 to 0.6. The performance is evaluated for each modulation index. The constraint length of the encoder, which is comprised in TCM, is chosen to be 2 and 3. From the performance evaluations, when the constraint length is 3 and modulation index 0.5, a power gain if the optimum TCM over the scheme without coding is observed to be 2.0dB for 1REC and 2.1dB for 3RC, respectively, on the fading channel. Thus, a significant improvement on the line quality is expected when the optimum TCM presented in this paper is employed in digital mobile radio applications.

  • In this paper, we design and implement the simulator for the transmitter and receiver of 4D-8PSK TCM with 2.0, 2.25, 2.5, and 2.75 bits/symbol-channel transmission efficiency recommended by the CCSDS for satellite communications, and then analyze the BER performance of 4D-8PSK TCM system in AWGN channel. The transmitter of 4D-8PSK TCM is designed in accordance with the recommendation in the CCSDS standard. Meanwhile, for the receiver design of 4D-8PSK TCM, we design the differential decoder generalizing the differential encoder/decoder scheme. The trellis decoding algorithm is designed by applying the auxiliary trellis information and the Viterbi algorithm, and an 8-dimensional constellation mapper equation given in the CCSDS standard is deconstructed to design constellation mapper. Especially, we present the optimized receiver for 4D-8PSK TCM system by investigating the BER performances for the traceback lengths in the Viterbi decoder through computer simulations..

  • In this paper, the structure and detailed specifications of the HDR-WPAN physical layer have been analyzed and the block module of transmitter and receiver have been also designed, and analyzed the performance as well. In the process of transmitter design, it concentrated on all possibility of modulation of QPSK, DQPSK and 16/32/64QAM-TCM, which could be available for mode selection due to the transmission rate. In addition to the receiver module, DQPSK and TCM decoding algorithm is mainly concerned. After designing the transceiver MODEM using VHDL, we have programmed on the platform board and verified the functions of the MODEM. Some experimental results showed that it can be considered a possibility of data communication without error over SNR 22dB.

  • In this paper, a model of TCM / M-PSK with set partitioning and a model of the combined M-ary PSK system with pragmatic coding for digital radio communication are realized. The equations of error probability for TCM / M-PSK system and the combined M-ary PSK system with pragmatic coding are derived on the conditions of the Rayleigh fading with the AWGN. It is found that the combined M-ary PSK systemwith pragmatic coding in the AWGN channel can not be applied to the fading channel since uncoded bits cause parallel:parallel paths in the trellis diagram to degrade the performance of the system. However, the use of pragmatic coding in the AWGN channel could simplify the given system since single convolutional encoder / decoder is required.
