The Effect of Sleep Quality on Activity Participation in the Elderly Living in Community (지역사회 거주 노인의 수면의 질이 활동참여에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of sleep quality on activity participation in the elderly living in the community. Methods : This study was conducted on 200 elderly people using welfare institutions located in Jeollabuk-do from August 21 to September 29, 2019. Data collection was performed using the Korean version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI-K) and the Korean-Activity Card Sort (K-ACS). The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent t-test, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression analysis. Results : The group with high quality of sleep showed significantly higher participation in instrumental activities, social activities and leisure activities than the group with low quality of sleep (p<.001). The quality of sleep was significantly correlated with instrumental activities, social activities and leisure activities (p<.01). The quality of sleep significantly affected the instrumental activities (R2=.224), social activities (R2=.142) and leisure activities (R2=.227) (p<.001). Conclusion : The quality of sleep needs to be approaches to promote the participation of elderly people living in the community, and development of an intervention program will be needed to improve quality of sleep.

Level of Knowledge and Attitude about Organ Donation in An University Students (장기기증에 대한 대학생들의 지식수준과 태도)

  • Purpose. The purpose of this study was to investigate level of knowledge and attitude about organ donation in university and provide basic information on correct education and promotion. Method. The sample is consisted of 90 the students related to health and 90 general college students ; total 180 students in J city. The questionnaires were used to obtain the results. Data was collected from November 6th to 8th, 2013. For data analysis, the SPSS for window 12.0 K program was utilized to get descriptive statistics including the percentage, average, standard deviation and t-test. Results. Comparing the results between a series of health students and general college students, a series of health students showed high level of more knowledge and more positive attitude about organ donation than general college students. A series of health showed significant correlation but general college didn't show significant correlation. Conclusion. To educate correct knowledge draw positive attitude about organ donation is needed to improve the level of Knowledge and Attitude about organ donation.

Prediction of Quality of Life among the Elderly at Care Facilities for the Elderly according to Health States, Physical and Cognitive Functions, and Social Supports-Focused on D Metropolitan City (노인요양시설 노인의 건강상태, 신체적, 정신적 기능, 사회적 지지에 따른 삶의 질 예측요인-D 광역시를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate relations among the quality of life, health states, physical functions, cognitive functions, and social supports of the elderly at care facilities. The subjects include the elderly that were living in care facilities in some urban areas and aged 65 or older. The data of total 260 old people were used in analysis. Collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. The elderly at care facilities, who were considered as physically and cognitive vulnerable, scored higher means on quality of life when they were satisfied with the length of stay and sleeping state, had higher subjective health states, had no tooth inconvenience and forgetfulness, suffered from a lower level of depression, had better cognitive functions, and received higher social supports. Quality of life had correlations with the sleeping state(r=-.20, p<.001), subjective health state(r=-.24, p<.001)s, depression(r=-.30, p<.001), and social supports(r=.30, p<.001). Social supports(${\beta}=.30$, p<.001), depression(${\beta}=-.25$, p<.001), subjective health states(${\beta}=-.22$, p<.001), length of stay(${\beta}=-.22$, p<.001), and sleeping state(${\beta}=-.12$, p=.025) turned out to predict the quality of life of the elderly at care facilities and have close relations with it. In short, the quality of life of the elderly is related to many different factors at care facilities. The findings indicate that nursing interventions and managements for quality of life require a mental and social approach or a whole person approach with a focus on the understanding of individual senior citizens rather than on physical activities and diseases.

  • In order to investigate the adsorption characteristics of the antibiotics trimethoprim (TMP) by activated carbon (WCAC) prepared from waste citrus peel, the effects of operating parameters on the TMP adsorption were investigated by using a response surface methodology (RSM). Batch experiments were carried out according to a four-factor Box-Behnken experimental design with four input parameters : concentration ($X_1$: 50-150 mg/L), pH ($X_2$: 4-10), temperature ($X_3$: 293-323 K), adsorbent dose ($X_4$: 0.05-0.15 g). The experimental data were fitted to a second-order polynomial equation by the multiple regression analysis and examined using statistical methods. The significance of the independent variables and their interactions was assessed by ANOVA and t-test statistical techniques. Statistical results showed that concentration of TMP was the most effective parameter in comparison with others. The adsorption process can be well described by the pseudo-second order kinetic model. The experimental data of isotherm followed the Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption amount of TMP by WCAC calculated from the Langmuir isotherm model was 144.9 mg/g at 293 K.

A Comparative study on difference in life satisfaction and user behavior of N-screen Service (N스크린 서비스의 이용행태와 삶의 만족도 비교연구)

  • This study compared and analyzed the connection use, using behaviors and life satisfaction of paid users and free users in accordance with the business models of convergence N-screen service providers. It also analyzed factors that influence users' satisfaction at a personal life level, a relationship-based life level and a group-based life level. The study result showed the different connection use levels of broadcast contents by paid and free users of the N-screen service have a statistically significant meaning. The result also showed the personal satisfaction level of paid users is higher than that of free users. It also turned out that factors that influence life satisfaction differ according to whether or not the users paid for the service. Also, academic background and content consumption expenses affected life satisfaction level of free users while connection use of broadcast contents affected the one of paid users. This study provided an insight on the current domestic N-screen market situation and suggested business strategies which could help find business models.

The Development and Application of Textbook Relevant to School Indoor Air Quality - Focused on 5th, 6th Grade Students - (학교 실내 공기질 관련 초등환경교육 교재 개발 - 5, 6학년을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and applicate textbook relevant to school indoor air quality. To achieve the purpose, concrete study process are as follows. First, the survey research to teachers, supervisors, and students is conducted to grasp cognition of subjects in elementary school and management situation about school indoor air quality. Second, contents relevant to indoor air quality on textbooks in the 7th elementary curriculum and subsidiary textbooks is analysed through reference study. Third, environmental textbook relevant to school indoor air quality for 5th and 6th grade in elementary school is developed, applicated, and inspected its effect on the basis of implications from results of survey and reference study. The results of this study are as follows. First, the result of survey concerning school indoor air quality showed that three groups had negative attitude for its management even though they thought that it affected human's health and study by and large. Student group thought that each of students itself was a little influence to school indoor air pollution though all of three groups answered that' activities of students' was its main source. Efforts of students to improve school indoor air quality was not much, and its main reason was that they didn't know about school indoor air pollution well. Second, result of analysis into textbooks on the 7th elementary curriculum and subsidiary textbooks, contents concerning indoor air on the 7th elementary curriculum textbooks was little or nothing. And it trended to be included to subsidiary textbooks. However, education textbooks about indoor air for elementary students was insufficient still. Third, environmental textbook relevant to school indoor air quality for 5th and 6th grade in elementary school was developed. It was constructed for themes - importance, sources, effects, and management of school indoor air quality. After its application to the 6th grade students in elementary school, it was meaningful in the level of p<.05 that the result of knowledge and awareness in the pre-post test within experiment group. However, all of the results in comparison group didn't represent statistically meaningful difference. In conclusion, environmental textbook developed by necessity of education about school indoor air quality will play a role as useful tool for the 5th, 6th grade students in elementary school to understand relation of quality of health and life and school indoor air quality, to have attitude to make an effort to manage it by develop right awareness about it.

  • This study derived optimized teaching aids that use the physical computing method as the solution for effective software education at the elementary level. We set standard for selecting physical computing teaching aids in elementary-level by gathering the opinions from previous studies and think tanks and then applied the standard to some aids and choose one. We also made lesson plan and tried it to the experimental group. Subsequently, students' logical thinking skills showed a statistically significant improvement in terms of the t-test. Also, in the analysis of the effect size, it was shown to have a positive influence on the improvement of the students' logical thinking skills. Additionally, survey of satisfaction evaluation from the students showed that the teaching aid selection standard was effective in selecting suitable teaching aids for elementary students and that the classroom activities utilizing physical computing teaching aids were at a suitable level for elementary students.

The effect of a titanium socket with a zirconia abutment on screw loosening after thermocycling in an internally connected implant: a preliminary study (내부연결 임플란트용 타이타늄 소켓을 이용한 지르코니아 지대주에서 열순환이 나사풀림에 미치는 영향: 예비연구)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of a titanium component for the zirconia abutment in the internal connection implant system on screw loosening under thermocycling conditions. Materials and Methods: Internal connection titanium abutments and external connection zirconia abutments with titanium sockets were connected respectively to screw-shaped internal connection type titanium implants with 30 Ncm tightening. These implant-screw-abutment assemblies were divided into two groups of five specimens each; titanium abutments as control and zirconia abutments with titanium sockets as experimental group. The specimens were subjected to 2,000 thermocycles in water baths at $5^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$, with 60 seconds of immersion at each temperature. The removal torque values (RTVs) of the abutment screws of the specimen were measured before and after thermocycling. RTVs pre- and post-thermocycling were investigated in statistics. Results: There was not screw loosening identified by tactile and visual inspection in any of the specimens during or after thermocycling. The mean RTV difference for the control group and the experimental group were $-1.34{\pm}2.53Ncm$ and $-1.26{\pm}2.06Ncm$, respectively. Statistical analysis using an independent t-test revealed that no significant differences were found in the mean RTV difference of the groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Within the limitations of this in vitro study, the titanium socket for the zirconia abutment did not show a significant effect on screw loosening under thermal stress compared to the titanium abutment in the internal connection implant.

Analysis of the Middle School Students' Conceptions about Buoyancy (중학생들의 부력에 대한 개념 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate middle students' conceptions of buoyancy. The questionnaires composed of 9 items which asked the reasons for situations with buoyancy; recognized of buoyancy, the facts affecting buoyancy(bottom of the Area of the object, the shape of the object, the depth of the object in the water, amount of water, the degree of the object submerged in the water, volume of the object, weigh of the object), the relationship between the amount of replaced fluid and buoyancy. The subjects were 140 students from the Busan Area who answered questionnaires composed of 9 items which asked the reasons for situations with buoyancy. Among the 140, 132 students were selected who answered all of question in the test. The students' answer types were follow: 1. Related to the shape of the submerged object, students answered that buoynacy depended on the bottom dimensions or the surface area of the object. 2. Students confused press, water press and buoyancy, who answered buoyancy was great when the water press was great. 3. Students answered that the weight and the size of the buoyancy of the object was same in the water. 4. Students answered, gravity was smaller in the water. Students recognized the existence of buoyancy but the reason of the answer depend on their experience. Also students answered using the words that water pressure, pressure, force instead of buoyancy. Students didn't understand the factors affecting the buoyancy. Many students responded that buoyancy was changed depend on weight of object, sinking depth, shape and others. It was considered that these responses didn't understand the cause of buoyancy.

The Study on Stakeholder' Concerns Regarding Consulting for Gifted Education Institutes (영재교육기관 컨설팅에 대한 영재교육 이해관계자의 관심도 연구)

  • This study examined whether there were differences in stakeholders' concerns regarding consulting in gifted education institutes. A total of 122 stakeholders in gifted and talented education responded to SoCQ(the Stage of Concerns Questionnaire, Hall & Hord, 2011). The SoCQ responses of these stakeholders to consulting for gifted education institutes were converted into relative intensities and SoCQ profiles, which were analyzed by the affiliated areas of institute, teaching years in gifted education, continuities of affairs in gifted education, and approaches to teacher training for gifted education with using t-test and one-way analysis of variance. Results indicated that stakeholders generally showed the highest concern for stage 1(information) and the lowest concerns for stage 4(consequence), which were the initial stage of change and innovation in consulting for gifted education institutes. In the meanwhile, skakeholders having training program for professionals showed the more concern for stage 6(refocusing), which was a kind of resistance for the present consulting for gifted education institutes. On the based on these results, this study suggested ways(or methods) for settlement and the diffusion of successful gifted education consulting.
