Relationship between Abdominal Obesity and Prostate Specific Antigen Level

  • This paper presents an investigation into factors influencing the level of prostate specific antigens (PSAs) in men with a focus on abdominal obesity. Data were collected from the exam results and medical records of male clients that visited a university hospital in Suwon for a general check-up. The data of total 1,039 were put to frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, independent-sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, chi-squared test, and multiple regression analysis. The subjects were men in their twenties to in their seventies. The study analyzed whether there would be differences in mean PSAs according to the characteristics of the subjects and found significant differences according to age, BMI, and waist. The findings indicate that abdominal obesity influences the level of PSAs in men and that men with abdominal obesity should not neglect the level of PSAs even in the normal range.

Consumer Preferences for Wood-Framed Housing

  • The purpose of this study was; 1) to describe consumer preferences for wood~framed housing; 2) to determine factors which affect the preferences for housing environments in wood-framed housing by demographic, current housing, and wood-framed housing-related characteristics; and 3) to identify differences in preferred wood-framed housing related characteristics by demographic and current housing characteristics. From the visitors to a model wood-framed house in Seoul, Korea, 296 persons willing to live in a wood-framed house were selected as the sample for the study. Data were collected using a self-administered survey and analyzed by frequency distribution, factor analysis, chi-square test, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance procedures. The results of the study Indicated that among seven factors based on 32 housing characteristics, Factor 2 - "floor plan and Interior environment" was the major variable which showed significant difference by selected demographic characteristics. Regarding the differences in wood-framed housing related characteristics by demographic characteristics, age, gender, education, and family life cycle showed group differences. Also, housing type was the major current housing characteristic to provide significant group difference in preferred wood-framed housing characteristics.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare consumers' evaluation, evaluation criteria and complaint factors on the department stores' private brand apparel with consumers' responses on the department stores' manufacturer brand apparel. 564 subjects were gathered in Seoul and Kyunggi province and, for data analysis, mean, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test, Factor Analysis were conducted. The results are as follows; 1. Among the purchasing groups, there weer significant differences in apparel evaluation according to fabric, style, sewing, suitability, versatility, washability, price and color. 2. Among the purchasing group, there were significant differences in apparel evaluation criteria according to fabric, fashionability, sewing, brand name, department store' credibility. 3. The differences in complaint factors of apparel among the purchasing groups were due to factors such s high quality, variety, price and size. there were significant differences in complaint factors of apparel according to the subjects' age.

  • This study compares consumer satisfaction levels in clothing stores based on, consumer complaint behavior. This study investigates the relationship between future purchase intention and consumer satisfaction with the response of clothing stores to complaints. The study was implemented through a normative-descriptive survey using self-administered questionnaires. The samples consisted of 509 female consumers residing in Seoul and its suburbs. Data were analyzed by following statistical methods: frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, regression analysis, and Duncan's multiple range test. Results are as follows: The satisfaction with response to complaints were different according to types of clothing stores. A significant relationship between the degree of satisfaction with service recovery and future purchase intension was found in all types of clothing stores. The future purchase intention increases, when consumers are fully satisfied with the way that a service failure was recovered.

Discriminant Analysis of Factors Influencing Preschoolers' Ability to Delay Gratification : An Experiment (유아의 만족지연능력 및 관련변인 판별분석 -만족지연실험상황을 중심으로-)

  • Participants in this study on preschool children's ability to delay gratification were 132 4- to 5 year-old children and their mothers from 6 daycare centers. Mothers completed questionnaires reporting their parenting style, their child's ability to delay gratification, and child's temperament. Children participated in the real and hypothetical settings of the delay of gratification experiment. Data was analyzed by t-test, F-test, correlation and discrimination analysis. Results were that (1) 43% of preschoolers passed the delay of gratification experiment. (2) Older children were more able to delay gratification than younger children. (3) Children's rewards choices in the real setting correlated with their rewards choices in the hypothetical situation of delay of gratification. (4) Children's ability to delay gratification was influenced by their motor intelligence.

  • The Purpose of this study is to investigate the cognition and experience of sexual violence and to Present the influential factors of the cognition of sexual violence. The subjects were 835 high school students living in Kwangiu and Chonnam. The data analysis used Mean. Standard Deviation, T-test. F-test. and Multiple Regression Analysis The major findings is as follows : 1 There are meaningful differences in the experience of sexual violence between male and female adolescents. 2. There are meaningful differences in the cognition of sexual violence in sex. sex-role attitude. experience of obscene materials and sex education. 3. The variables which affect cognition of sexual violence is sex-role attitude, sex and experience of obscene materials that were explained about 10%.

School Bullying Victimization, Health Status and Stress Coping Behavior of Middle School Students (중학생의 학교따돌림 피해경험과 건강상태, 스트레스 대처행동)

  • Objectives: The main purpose of this study was to examine factors influencing school bullying victimization of middle school students in relation to social support, self-esteem, stress coping behavior, and health status. Methods: The questionnaire survey was carried out on a convenience sample of 441 middle school students. The data analysis procedure included frequency, ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, and multiple logistic regression. Results: It was found that 18% of the subjects were bullied by other students. Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that the factors such as sex(OR=2.35, p=.006), aggressive coping behavior(OR=1.18, p=.028), and health status(OR=1.04, p=.002) were significant affecting factors. Conclusions: The findings suggest that to prevent middle school students' bullying victimization, it is necessary to design intervention programs that considering their health status and stress coping behavior.

A Study on Hair Care Attitudes, Practices and Spending Among University Students' (남녀 대학생의 헤어관리 인식과 행동 및 지출비용에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze university students' attitudes toward hair care as well as their hair care practices and spending. The analytical tools include the chi-square test, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The major findings were as follows: (1) The mean of university students' attitudes toward hair care was 18.5(out of a possible 30). (2) The variables that significantly influenced students' attitudes toward hair care were gender, school year and monthly spending money. (3) Hair care practices differed according to demographic variables and attitudes toward hair care. (4) The average monthly expenditure on hair care was 31,769 won. The variable that most influenced monthly hair care expenditures was gender. In sum, this study found that the variable with the largest effect on hair care attitudes, practices and spending was gender.

A study on the Impact of Consumers' Deal Proneness on Purchasing Behavior of Cosmetics (판매촉진 이용성향이 화장품 구매행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the variables influencing consumers' deal proneness. The data were collected from 385 college female students living in Daegu, Korea via self-administered questionnaires and were analyzed by frequency, factor analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha},\;X^2-test$, t-test and stepwise regression analysis. The results of the study were as follows: 1) There was found significant differences of demographic variables between domestic and imported cosmetics' consumers. 2) Deal proneness which were Consumers' responses to sales promotion were classified into six factors which were mileage proneness, display proneness, gifts proneness, sample/coupon proneness, sweepstakes proneness, make-up show proneness. 3) Domestic cosmetics' consumers who had higher gift proneness, sample/coupon proneness, mileage proneness had significantly positive influence on the buying experience of promoted cosmetics. Imported cosmetics' consumers who had higher sample/coupon proneness and lower make-up show proneness had significantly positive influence on the buying experience of promoted cosmetics.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate some influencing factors related to the urban housewives' homemanagement and management behavior on the problems of the environment. Questionaire Survey method was used and the sample was taken from 490 housewives who lives in Seoul and has husband and more than one child. The Research for this study was operated by frequency, mean, percentage, Factor Analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, and multiple regression analysis through the SAS program package. Based on the findings of this study, housewives' value, degree of exposure to mass communications, housewives' level of education were most influencial variables on Housewives' home management behavior pattern. And Housewives' home management behavior pattern, degree of exposure to mass communications, housewives' age, knowledge of the problems of the environment were most influencial variables on Housewives' management behavior onthe problesm of the environment.
