A Study on the Verbal Image of Interior Decoration Trend from the Year 2000 (2000년 이후 인테리어 데코레이션 트랜드의 언어심상에 관한 연구)

  • Recent trends of interior design have a focus on creation of more various meanings rather than past ideology which sought after the compatibility to the function of modem design. These trends requires integral understanding of social and cultural ideologies with a sens of values for a certain periods. In addition, they also require creativity which able to read, find and solve consumer's diverse demand and desire. Considering the effort of trend forecasting in Korea is still heavily rely on the foreign trend shows, it is natural to attempt to study the analytical forecasting methodology based upon more systematic principles which lead to more objective outcome, when the understanding, forcasting and analysis of interior decoration trend are required. In this thesis, the analysis and forecasting of interior decoration trend are studied by means of verbal image code process which involves the induction of design concept through data extraction, classification and analysis, in order to understanding and satisfying the diversified consumer's demand and trend. The coding process of verbal image is understanding as general concept. by extracting common elements from abstract and individual image, and/or specific concept. Therefore, it is proposed that the database building and data mining process of verbal Image, and subsequent development of programming skill can be applied as more efficient tool for various verbal image process.

The Effectiveness of Bojungikgi-tang and its modifications on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: A Systematic Review And Meta-analysis (만성피로증후군에 대한 보중익기탕과 그 변방의 효과 : 체계적인 문헌고찰)

  • Objectives: The aim of this review is to ascertain whether Bojungikgi-tang and its modifications is more effective than non-specific management in chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Methods: We collected clinical trials to investigate the effects of Bojungikgi-tang and non-specific management on general symptoms, fatigue, and sleep quality in CFS patients. The databases used for data retrieval were Pubmed, Central Cochrane, CNKI, VIP, CiNii, OASIS, RISS, and Koreamed. We performed selection/exclusion process from the found records according to prespecified criteria, and assessed the final included trials according to the Cochrane risk of bias tool. The included studies were classified on the basis of interventions in experimental group. Results: Seven randomized controlled trials (476 participants) were eligible and their results were synthesized in the meta-analysis. The synthesis showed a substantial effect of Bojungikgi-tang (relative risk 0.20 [95% CI 0.13 to 0.31], Z=7.44, P<0.00001; I2=0%) and combination of Bojungikgi-tang and Sosiho-tang (relative risk 0.15 [95% CI 0.08 to 0.28], Z=5.85, P<0.00001; I2=0%) compared with non-specific management on improvement of general symptoms. However, we could not find sufficient clinical research records to determine their effects of improvement on fatigue and sleep quality. Conclusions: Bojungikgi-tang and its modifications are more effective than non-specific management for improvement of general symptoms in CFS post-treatment.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest prevention policy by analyzing accident cases related with school facilities. The results of study are as follows: First, policy enforcement that follows disaster management process such as prevention, preparation, response and recovery is required for school safety policy. Second, in order to proceed with the effective safety policy through collection, analysis, interpretation of data and result monitoring against accident case, the systematic safety infrastructure such as injury surveillance system and the composition of policy consultative group among safety organizations should be established. Third, the school facilities should be installed and managed according to the safety design. Fourth, the systematic education is needed to done for the managers who are concerned with safety regarding the establishment of safety management plan for each school. Fifth, the evaluation and feedback system is required for the results of proceeding with safety policy.

Applications, Shortcomings, and New Advances of Job Safety Analysis (JSA): Findings from a Systematic Review

  • Background: Job safety analysis (JSA) is a popular technique for hazard identification and risk assessment in workplaces that has been applied across a wide range of industries. This systematic review was conducted to answer four main questions regarding JSA: (1) which sectors and areas have used JSA? (2) What has been the aim of employing JSA? (3) What are the shortcomings of JSA? (4) What are the new advances in the field of JSA? Methods: Three main international databases were searched: SCOPUS, Web of Science, and PubMed. After screening and eligibility assessment, 49 articles were included. Results: Construction industries have used JSA the most, followed by process industries and healthcare settings. Hazard identification is the main aim of JSA, but it has been used for other purposes as well. Being time-consuming, the lack of an initial list of hazards, the lack of a universal risk assessment method, ignoring hazards from the surrounding activities, ambiguities regarding the team implementing JSA, and ignorance of the hierarchy of controls were the main shortcomings of JSA based on previous studies. Conclusion: In recent years, there have been interesting advances in JSA making attempts to solve shortcomings of the technique. A seven-step JSA was recommended to cover most shortcomings reported by studies.

Rational Design and Facile Fabrication of Tunable Nanostructures towards Biomedical Applications

  • For the rational design and facile fabrication of novel nanostructures, we present a new approach to generating arrays of three-dimensionally tunable nanostructures by exploiting light-matter interaction. To create controlled three-dimensional (3D) nanostructures, we utilize the 3D spatial distribution of light, induced by the light-matter interaction, within the matter to be patterned. As a systematic approach, we establish 3D modeling that integrates the physical and chemical effects of the photolithographic process. Based on a comprehensive analysis of structural formation process and nanoscale features through this modeling, we are able to realize three-dimensionally tunable nanostructures using facile photolithographic process. Here we first demonstrate the arrays of three-dimensionally controlled, stacked nanostructures with nanoscale, tunable layers. We expect that the promising strategy would open new opportunities to produce the arrays of tunable 3D nanostructures using more accessible and facile fabrication process for various biomedical applications ranging from biosensors to drug delivery devices.

  • Identifying benefit from IT spending is of great concern to most firms in today's competing world. Cost-benefit analysis of IT spending can be conducted when firms have systematic management process of IT spending and the supporting data. This paper examined Korean firm's management process of IT spending, and proposes the best practice. Management process of IT spending and the definition of IT expense and investment were proposed based on the best practice. A proposition that "IT expenses and investments need to be distinguished to manage IT spending effectively' was proposed. Hypotheses were generated and tested with empirical data. Statistical analyses show that ratios of IT investment to IT expense were significantly different during the study period. The results of the study imply that firms can acquire useful information by distinguishing IT expense and investment in the management process of IT spending.

  • Systematic quality control based on real time data is required for modern factories. This study introduced a method of predicting punch wear in the trimming process of automobile parts. Based on monitoring data of the mass production process using a bolt-type piezo sensor, it was shown that precursor symptoms of die wear could be predicted from the change in load pattern with respect to production volume. The load pattern that changed according to the wear of the die was verified by numerical analysis.

  • The absence of systematic project procedures in the domestic SOC projects has caused many problems. Therefore, it has been raised the needs for the effective project management of the projects which helps the participants to have systematic procedures at each phase of the SOC projects. The purpose of this research is to build the current model of procurement management process for the airport facilities and to derive inherent problems, and the building direction of the effective procurement management is suggested for the future research. The result of this research could be used for delivering the effective SOC projects and for establishing interrelationships between procurement and other phases of the projects for the integrated project management. The procurement process of the Inchon International Airport was investigated and the as-is model was built. Through the analysis of the as-is model, and the questionnaires and the interviews with the participants of the SOC projects, the problems of the current procurement process has been derived.

  • For the optimal achievement of system goals through a systematic analysis of the complex problems, systems engineering provides us the concepts and methodology that include comprehensive interpretability (or understandability), universal applicability, and feasibility. Under this aspect, the main objective of this study is that it introduces mathematical system theory (MST) as the fundamental tool of SE into the Inventory Control among the related parts with IE, and review it's applicability. Through its work, we can find that it has the alternative aspects with which it can replace other existing methods for problem-solving in understanding and analyzing structurally systems in themselves as well as being considerable of the time evolutionary process of a given system.

  • This study analyzed the demographic characteristics, strengths and weaknesses related to information acquisition of local innovation diffusion types. This study use ordered probit model to find strengths and weaknesses of innovation diffusion type in rural area. The individual characteristics of 'formal extension type', 'situational reaction diffusion type', 'agriculturist connection type', and 'systematic approach type', all differentiated according to innovation diffusion type, were analyzed. Following Choi & Choe(2008), immediacy, accessibility, referability, applicability, and satisfaction were the highest in the situational reaction diffusion type, systematic approach type, formal extension type, and farmers connection type, in the order. And there existed organic contexts among individual characteristics. So this study tried to analyze strengths and weaknesses of innovation diffusion type with a focus on immediacy, which emerged as the most important variable in the process of interpreting innovation diffusion. And the strengths and weaknesses of each innovation diffusion type were presented.
