A method for improving current THD of Valley-fill rectifier is proposed in this paper. The proposed topology combines a boosting inductor with Valley-fill rectifier which carry out AC/DC conversion and PFC simultaneously The boosting effect by PWM switching makes low THD current and improve of Valley-fill rectifier. The operation modes and THD of input current are analyzed as applied the boosting inductor, and the optimum value of boosting inductor is determined A 100[W] single-stage converter has been designed and tested. Experimental results are resented to verify the validity of the proposed method.

A new high efficiency phase shifted full bridge (PSFB) converter for the power sustaining module of a plasma display panel (PDP) is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter employs a voltage doubler rectifier without an output inductor. Since it has no output inductor, the voltage stresses of the secondary rectifier diodes can be clamped at the output voltage level. No dissipative resistor-capacitor (RC) snubber for rectifier diodes is needed. Therefore, high efficiency, as well as, a low noise output voltage can be realized. Due to the elimination of the large output inductor, it features a simple structure, lower cost, smaller mass and lighter weight. Furthermore, the proposed converter has wide zero voltage switching (ZVS) ranges with low current stresses of the primary switches. Also the resonance between the leakage inductor of the transformer and the capacitor of the voltage doubler cell reduces the current stresses of the rectifier diodes. In this paper, operational principles, an analysis of the proposed converter and experimental results are presented.
The conventional sliding mode control (CSMC) has a number of problems. It may cause dc output voltage ripple and it cannot guarantee the robustness of the whole system for a matrix rectifier (MR). Furthermore, the existence of a filter can decrease the input power factor (IPF). Therefore, a novel global sliding mode control (GSMC) based on a hyperbolic tangent function with IPF compensation for MRs is proposed in this paper. Firstly, due to the reachability and existence of the sliding mode, the condition of the matrix rectifier's robustness and chattering elimination is derived. Secondly, a global switching function is designed and the determination of the transient operation status is given. Then a SMC compensation strategy based on a DQ transformation model is applied to compensate the decreasing IPF. Finally, simulations and experiments are carried out to verify the correctness and effectiveness of the control algorithm. The obtained results show that compared with CSMC, applying the proposed GSMC based on a hyperbolic tangent function for matrix rectifiers can achieve a ripple-free output voltage with a unity IPF. In addition, the rectifier has an excellent robust performance at all times.
Electronic/hybrid car and electroplating rectifier should have switching devices such as SCR, MOSFET, IGBT. And those switching devices should be operated by gate driver. In this paper, we propose high power gate driver that contains H-Bridge using 4 BJTs. H-Bridge and transformer generate isolate power. And gate control signal is transferred to isolated one by photo coupler and operate real switching device. We designed H-Bridge and 555-Timer by PSpice simulation and manufactured real product. Finally we succeed to operate 27V 50,000A electroplating rectifier using proposed gate driver.
SiC devices have drawn much attentions for its wide band gap material properties. Especially 4H-SiC Schottky barrier diode is widely used for its rapid switching speed and low forward voltage drop. However, the low reliability of Schottky barrier diode has many problems that Super Barrier Rectifier(SBR) was researched for alternative. makes 4H-SiC trench-type accumulation super barrier rectifier(TASBR) is analyzed and proposed in this paper. We could verified that forward voltage drop was improved 21.06% without severe degradation of reverse breakdown voltage and leakage current based on the results from 2-D numerical simulations. With this novel rectifier structure, we can expect application with less power loss.
For decrease the harmonic current components of the power source, a first method is insert the choke coil that used the choke input type rectifier, the booster chopper circuit and buck chopper circuit. And the several method are studying like as the PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) converter and the active filter type which is used the high frequency switching and the sinusoidal wave formed input current. In this type, there are many problem as a low efficiency, increased the noise, the high leakage current and cost up by the high frequency switching. For improve this problems, the partial resonan method is used on the booster inducter and lossles snubber condenser. This method decreased the distortion factor has lower harmonic components than the hard switching and there is no switching loss by the ZCS(Zero Current Switching) at switch turn-on and the ZVS(Zero Voltage Swithcing) at switch turn-off

In this paper, a new zero-voltage-switching, high power-factor, bridgeless rectifier is introduced. In this topology, an auxiliary circuit provides soft switching for all of the power semiconductor devices. Thus the switching losses are reduced and the highest efficiency can be achieved. The proposed converter has been analyzed and a design procedure has been introduced. The control circuit for the converter has also been developed. Based on the given approach, a 250 W, 400 Vdc prototype converters has been designed at 100 kHz for universal input voltage (90-264 Vrms) applications. A maximum efficiency of 94.6% and a power factor correction over 0.99 has been achieved. The simulation and experimental results confirm the design procedure and highlight the advantages of the proposed topology.

Three-level (3L) DC-DC converters are appropriate for high-input-voltage applications. Although the voltage stress of TL converter switches can be reduced to half of the input voltage, the primary side has a large circulating current, which degrades efficiency. In this study, a dual half-bridge cascaded TL converter is presented to reduce this circulating current and thus decrease the conduction loss of the primary circuit. Moreover, the proposed converter can reduce the voltage stress of rectifier diodes, thereby reducing their conduction loss. Therefore, efficiency can be improved by reducing the conduction loss of the primary circuit and rectifier diodes.
PWM(pulse width modulation) rectifier has unit power factor and low harmonic distortion with high power conversion efficiency in entire loading range. These merits of PWM rectifier help the spread of DC distribution system. In addition, if multiple PWM rectifiers can be operated in parallel connection, maintenance process can be simple and reliability of power source can be advanced because of the hot swapping is available. The other way, the load unbalance among rectifiers can force a converter to stop by over current. The surge current by closed circuit composition between rectifiers can force switching devices damage. In this paper, some problems that can occur in case of parallel operation of PWM rectifiers and problem eliminating methods are considered.
In this paper, implementation of digital control for critical conduction mode power factor correction (PFC) rectifier is presented. Critical conduction mode is widely used in medium and low power conversion application due to its minimized MOSFET turn-on loss and diode reverse-recovery problem. However, it needs additional zero current detection circuit and maximum frequency limit to properly turn the MOSFET on and avoid the excessive switching loss in light load operation. This paper explains the digital IC implementation and verifies its operation with 200-W prototype PFC rectifier.
