The Effects of SW Education Using Robots on Prior Level and Gender (초등학생을 위한 로봇 활용 SW 교육의 사전 수준 및 성별 효과 규명)

  • 본 연구는 초등학교에서 로봇 활용 SW 교육을 실시하고 사전 수준 및 성별에 따라 효과에 차이가 있는지 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 경기도의 A 초등학교 5, 6학년 학생 155명을 대상으로 로봇 활용 SW 교육을 실시하였으며, 수집된 자료는 대응 표본 t 검정, 일원분산분석, 공분산분석을 통해 평균의 차이를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 로봇 활용 SW 교육을 실시한 후 학생들의 컴퓨팅사고력과 창의성이 유의하게 향상되었으나, 컴퓨팅사고력 수준이 상 집단인 학생들은 유의한 향상을 나타내지 않았다. 또한 학생들의 컴퓨팅사고력은 성별의 차이가 없었으나, 창의성은 성별에 따른 차이가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 사전 수준과 성별에 따른 로봇 활용 SW 교육의 효과를 규명하여 로봇 활용 SW 교육에 대한 이해를 확장시켰다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.

  • 공개SW의 여러 가지 장점 때문에 공공부분에서 적극적으로 도입하고 있으며, 국방 분야에서도 무기체계 개발 시 공개SW 적용을 권고하고 있다. 하지만 무기체계 개발 시 적용할 가이드라인은 정립되어 있지 않으며, 이에 대한 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 요구 분석, 공개SW 식별, 평가대상 공개SW 선정, 평가기준 정의 및 수행, 평가결과 분석 등 5단계로 구성된 식별 및 선정 프로세스를 제안한다. 향후 무기체계에 공개 SW 도입 시 안전성과 신뢰성 확보 측면에서 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.

Antitumor activity of Bacillus subtilis SW-1 isolated from Jeotgal (젓갈에서 분리한 Bacillus subtilis SW-1의 항암활성)

  • A bacterum containing antitumor activity was isolated from traditional korean food, Jeotgal. Through the 16s rRNA sequence analysis, the bacterium was identitied as a strain of Bacillus subtilis SW-l. The best culture condition for antitumor activity of the bacterium is 3% of soluble starch and 1 % of yeast extract as corbon and nitrogen sources, respectively. Cytotoxicitic concentrations of the culture supernatant of B. subtilis SW-1 against cancer cell lines, A549 and SK-OV3 were 30 ul/ml and 40 ul/ml, respectively, as $IC_{50}$/ values. In DNA fragmentation assay, the culture supernatant showed the programmed cell death (apoptosis) to cause degrading the chromosomal DNA like ladder. Taken together, the culture supernatant of the B. subtilis SW-1 has some possibility to be used as an antitumor agent.

Feasibility of Increasing the Slaughter Weight of Finishing Pigs

  • The present review was aimed to assess the feasibility of increasing the slaughter weight (SW) of finishing pigs. Growth performance, including ADG, ADFI and gain:feed, does not change significantly with increasing SW between 110 and $135{\pm}5kg$ in lean-genotype pigs, whereas in non-lean pigs, ADG and gain:feed decrease with increasing SW within the similar range of BW. Backfat thickness (BFT) and marbling of the carcass, which are greater in barrows than in gilts, increase with the increase of SW. The SW could be increased by using a low-energy diet and thereby reducing the rate of fat deposition per weight gain. The yield of the belly increases with the increase of SW, which may be economically significant in Korea. However, yields of some other primal cuts do not change so much as to affect the carcass value. The redness and fat content of the muscle increase slightly with the increase of SW whereas moisture content is minimally influenced by SW. Muscular protein content rarely changes, but sometimes increases slightly, with increasing SW. Other physicochemical characteristics, including lightness, pH, drip loss, and cooking loss of the muscle, are barely influenced by SW. Marbling of fresh loin and ham increases with increasing SW. Sensory characteristics of fresh loin, ham, and belly, including color, aroma, off-flavor, drip, and acceptability, are not influenced significantly by SW. The eating quality of cooked pork also has almost no relation to SW. In conclusion, it is thought that the current SW for moderately lean barrows and gilts can be raised up to 125 and 135 kg, respectively, with BFT at these weights predicted to be approximately 24 mm near the last rib, without compromising the meat quality.

A Comparative Analysis Study of Relevant Statistics for Understanding the Structure of the Software(SW) Industry (소프트웨어(SW)산업구조 이해를 위한 유관 통계 간 비교분석 연구)

  • To grasp the structure of an industry and monitor its changes, it is essential to utilize relevant statistics. Various statistics are being compiled regarding the software (SW) industry, presenting diverse numerical values. However, without a precise understanding of the scope and measurement methods inherent to each statistic, gaining a rigorous understanding of the industry's structure and evolving trends becomes challenging. Moreover, significant discrepancies between similar statistics often lead to confusion among users. In the software (SW) industry, key statistics commonly used include SW production value and SW market size. As of 2022, the annual domestic SW production value is reported as 77.4 trillion KRW (based on ICT Survey), while the SW market size for the same year is stated as 38.5 trillion KRW (according to IDC data). Although production value and market size may seem conceptually similar, there is approximately a twofold difference between the figures provided. Without understanding the meanings of each statistic and the differences between them, there are limitations in utilizing these statistics effectively. While statistics are utilized for various purposes such as policy development or causal analysis of policy using statistical raw data, research that presents and analyzes the precise meanings and limitations of each SW-related statistic is virtually non-existent. Thus, this study aims to compare and analyze the methodologies and differences among key statistics used to represent the SW industry: SW production value, SW market size, and SW GDP statistics. Through this analysis, the goal is to contribute to a better understanding of the SW industry's structure and enable more accurate and rigorous utilization of relevant statistics.

Optimization of Milling and Puffing Conditions of the Varieties of Wheats (밀쌀 품종별 도정 및 퍼핑 조건의 최적화)

  • Process optimization of milling and puffing condition of the typical varieties of wheat such as HRS, ASW, and SW were studied. Distibution of optimal milling size of 8 mesh-on was more than 90% after milling of three wheats. That of HRS was the highest, 78%, and that of SW and ASW were pretty high, above 75%. Moisture content of three wheats was between 10∼12%, and protein content which are important for texture profile and puffing was 12.68%, 13.59%, and 11.82% for SW, HRS, and ASW, respectively. Puffing was optimal of 7 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ heating pressure for SW, and 5 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ lot HRS and ASW when the puffing process was pursued at 14.5 ∼15.0 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ steam pressure. Moisture content decreased from 11∼l3% to 5.6∼6.0% after puffing. Bulk density of SW, HRS, and ASW was 0.0441, 0.0523, and 0.0460, respectively. Size distribution of HRS was 82.4% after Puffing. Press strength of HRS was high, 51.0%, and texture of HRS was crispy.

The Development and Application of the SW-STEAM Program by Utilizing Ozobot Coding for Elementary Science Class (초등과학 수업에서 오조봇 코딩을 활용한 SW 융합교육프로그램의 개발과 적용)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the SW-STEAM program by utilizing ozobot coding for elementary science class. The developed SW-STEAM program was applied to $5^{th}$ grade students of S elementary school located in B city. The participants were divided into an experimental group which is consisted of 22 students and a comparative group comprised 22 students. And they were engaged in different teaching and learning methods during 11 class hours. The experimental group participated in the SW-STEAM program, the comparative group was taught by using a traditional instruction. The main results of this study are like followings. The SW-STEAM program had a positive effect on elementary school students' basic science process skill, science learning motive, science achievement. Therefore, the SW-STEAM program by utilizing ozobot coding could be meaningful works to encourage students' basic science process skill, science learning motive and science achievement, and more studies on developing SW-STEAM program are needed.

Gender Differences in Computational Thinking, Creativity, and Academic Interest on Elementary SW Education (초등 SW교육에서 성별에 따른 컴퓨팅 사고력, 창의성, 학습흥미의 차이)

  • The purpose of this study was to propose instructional-learning strategies for designing effective software education investigating gender differences in computational thinking, creativity and academic interest on elementary SW education. 86 elementary school students who had SW education for 4 months, consisting of 49 boys (57%) and 37 girls (43%), participated for this study. They responded surveys regarding computational thinking, creativity, and academic interest. With the use of independent t-tests, this study found that there was significant differences in creativity and academic interest between boys and girls at elementary SW education. The mean of creativity of girls was higher than that of boys. however, the mean of academic interest of males was higher than that of girls. On the other hand, there was no difference in computational thinking between boys and girls. In conclusion, this study suggests design and implementation of successful SW education class considering gender.

A Reconfigurable Antenna for Mobile Handset Using RF Switch (RF 스위치를 이용한 이동통신 단말기용 재구성 안테나)

  • This paper proposes a frequency reconfigurable antenna which operates at not only LTE but also other currently serviced bands. The high band(1,710-2,170 MHz) performance was satisfied through PIFA structure, and the low band performance through the additional RF Switch by changing the state between SW1 and SW2. When the RF switch is SW1 state, the operation bandwidth is 782-907 MHz (GSM), and 738-861 MHz (LTE) at OFF state. The proposed antenna has a omni-directional radiation pattern and measured peak gains were 0.04-4.68 dBi at the SW1 state and 0.92-1.53 dBi at the SW2 state, respectively. Judging from the results, proposed reconfigurable antenna is expected to be applied to LTE-Advanced mobile terminals since the antenna shows an outstanding performance.

Analysis of Elementary Pre-service Teachers' Concern on Software Education Using the Concerns-Based Adoption Model (관심기반수용모형을 활용한 초등 예비교사의 소프트웨어 교육 관심도 분석)

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the current status of elementary pre-service teachers' concern on SW education using the Concern-Based Adoption Model, and to investigate issues to be considered in pre-service teacher education. The participants were 137 senior students enrolled in a university of education. A survey was conducted using the Stages of Concerns Questionnaire(SoCQ). Elementary pre-service teachers' concern on SW education was turned out to be the highest at the awareness stage, and the lowest at the consequence stage, and thus showed the 'nonuser' pattern. It also showed a 'positive nonuser' pattern by indicating a little more concern at the collaboration and refocusing stages than the consequence stage concerning the impact of SW education. In addition, no significant difference was found according to pre-service teachers' gender. In comparison with that, significant differences were found according to their programming level at the awareness, personal, consequence and collaboration stages. Based on the results of the research, suggestions were made for the improvement of the pre-service teachers' SW education program concerning the presentation of related information and the enhancement of programming capabilities.
