Not only consumers but also corporations need to use and develop sustainable consumption for environmental preservation these days. This research studied the level of environmental consciousness, knowledge of environmental problems and consumption behavior for environmentally sustainable home electrical goods. This study was conducted by survey method and the sample was 300 housewives aged 20-50 living in Seoul and urban areas in 2003. The consciousness for the environment and seriousness of theenvironmental problems were very high. Nevertheless, the level of consumption behavior for environmentally sustainable goods was lower than the consciousness. Of the total sample, 33% were aware of the ultrasonic-waves-sink, 73% of the non-detergent-wash machine, 50% of the vacuum-without-trash envelope, and only 17% of the micro-oven-zero air power. Over 50% of the sample wanted to buy these environmentally sustainable, home electrical goods, especially working housewives.

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the educational philosophy, goal, method, content, and environment of ecologically-oriented alternative elementary schools and suggest several practical methods for alternative education. Both ecologism and alternative education pursue sustainable values. The educational content of ecologically-oriented alternative elementary schools, analyzed from the view of sustainable development, focuses most on the natural resources, biodiversity, and sustainable food production, and also include human rights, peace and security, unification, cultural diversity, and health food in terms of the social sustainability and sustainable production and consumption concerning economic sustainability. This study should help environmental education become establish its possibility and position as alternative education and be recognized of its educational value. Furthermore, based on the cases of ecologically-oriented alternative elementary schools that are becoming 'garden of environmental education' as sustainable development education, it should lead to 'education communicating with environmental education at schools'.

The purposes of this studies were (1) to compare environmentally responses with green responses, (2) and departmentalized green responses, (3) and linked green responses to sustainability. First, I compared environmental responses with green responses. Environmental responses and green responses had different paradigm. So it is impossible to compare them same criteria. And there is no theory and method to prove which is better. I can't tell which one is better because they environmental responses and green responses. Second, I departmentalized green responses and compared the advantages and disadvantages of each departmentalized green responses. Third, linked green responses to sustainability. It is difficult to seek environmentally sustainable society without losing sustainable economic growth. Green responses and environmentally sustainable society seems to impractical. Environmentally sustainable society and sustainable economic growth seems to will never meet no matter how far extended. At the present speaking, sustainable economic growth and an environmentally sustainable society were incompatible.

Recently, it is throwing the spotlight on environment-friendly architecture for preservation of the global environment throughout the world. At this point in time, home products to have Eco-label in architecture materials is increasing constantly and the demand of environment-friendly building and material is rising. The purpose of this study is to propose a way of development through analysis about necessity and concept of environment-friendly architecture and research into institution and standard for certification of environment-friendly building materials. So, it will make exactly progress to this study that is based on analysis and research of periodical publications, theses, reports of journal and data of the advanced country about environment-friendly architecture.

In development of housing estates, 'Sustainable development' is indispensable method for the quality in our living environment, and minimize any environment problems which treat our life. And the community elements of sustainable housing complex to make it better life in housing complex. The purpose of study is to suggest the evaluation factors sustainability and community for the planning of housing complex. Within this purpose, this study firstly deducing elements of sustainabilty and community. In the study, literature research method are used for data collection. The results of this study are showed as follows: First, the elements of sustainability are composed of social, economic and environment aspects. Second, the elements of community are composed of hardware, software, humanware aspects.

In order to answer the challenge that development gave to environment, Chinese cities are making up and putting into effect the green space system planning. The planning main keys are: set down standards and scope of green space; bring the characteristics of every types of green space in to full play and made into basic units of the system; formed powerful links of the system; make full use of the natural system of city, constituted the urban and countryside as a organic whole green space system, therefore give full play their function and ecological effect. In fact, this green space system is a complex system. It is the main body of city ecological system, a main container of the citizen activities of leisure and recreation and a leading factor for making characteristic city landscape. Therefore it is a system carrying city's environment sustainable development.

As environmental concerns grow, people are becoming more aware of energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and sustainable development. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification is currently the most widely recognized building environment assessment method connected to energy and the environment worldwide. This study explores trends for six factors (energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, sustainable sites, water efficiency, and innovation in design) to assess four levels of LEED certification (Platinum, gold, silver, and certified) using 11,209 LEED projects in the United States. The study analyzes trends using scores of percentages of maximum points by certification level, ownership type, space type, and climate zones. With the interest in the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principle on the rise, this study contributes to a better understanding of the trends and future of LEED certification in the built environment sector.

Architectural design for school can be completed well when the environment-friendly elements are satisfied. In other words, the environment-freindly element could be most important idea for school planning, and one should have this direction for each element as a design goal. In this study, I defined the "environment-friendly" as the environment for nature and human. I examined what could satisfy those and would be its principles. I set up the criteria to satisfy each priciple. Most important factor to keep the relation between nature and human would be reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and a green belt would absorb it. Therefore, I think that there would be effective possibility when suitable conditions are applied in phases. Every school can have comfort as environment-friendly facility, at the same time, contribute to nature. Also, students can learn and study nature, and perform a duty as human.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate an environmental education model school and to devise proper plans for school management through the school eco-audit. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, environmental education model school is analysed from view point of planning and executing. So that, environmental education model school put emphasis on executing rather than planning. It requires to emphasis planning, for example, establishing environment management system, ecological measures, environment reporting. Secondly, environmental education model school is in the incipient stage as the environment prevention. The preparation for planning is inefficient compared to the ecological pretest of school eco-audit. In the aspect of ecological measures and education, the participant of all the school staff is unsatisfactory. In conclusion, the school eco-audit could be presented as a key role for establishing basic organizational conditions, ecological measures and education for sustainable development, It is necessary to drive environmental education model school to achieve extended effect for sustainable society.

The paper presents time and cost effective remote sensing technology to estimate recharge potential of fresh water shallow aquifers for their sustainable management in arid ecosystem. Precipitation measurement of Raudatain Basin in Kuwait from TRMM data has been made and integrated with geological, geomorphological and hyrological data, to estimate the recharge potential of the basin. The total potential recharge to the area is estimated as 333.964 MCM annually. The initial losses are estimated at $60\%$ of the net precipitation .The net available quantity for recharge is 133.58 MCM. For sustainable management of the ground water resources, recharge wells have been proposed in the higher order streams to augment the Raudatain aquifer in Kuwait. If the available quantity of precipitation can be successfully utilized, it will reduce considerable pressure on desalination, which is leading to increased salinity off the coast in Arabian Gulf.
