This study used survey research method to identify factors affecting suicidal ideation in adolescents. The results of this study are as follows. First, it is necessary to narrow the psychological distance between the parents and the adolescents, to make efforts in each family to be more harmonious within the family, and to reduce consciously the physical and verbal violence which is sometimes unintentionally applied between the parents. Second, when adolescents attempt suicide, counseling agencies in schools, educational institutions, and local communities should be able to respond effectively to adolescent crisis situations, and follow-up measures such as suicide prevention education and suicide attitude education must be conducted Efforts should be made to reduce juvenile delinquent suicide and impulsive suicidal thoughts. Third, when developing adolescent suicide prevention and related programs, differentiated programs and suicide prevention education should be tried. Fourth, I think that it is necessary to prevent the suicidal thoughts of adolescents by early detection and intervention of high - depression adolescents by establishing a system that can be applied to adolescents out of school.
This study was performed in order to verify the effect of family resilience in youth suicide. The subject was the third year of high school boys in Gwang-ju, 308 questionnaires were used in the analysis. In order to derive the results of a study, we used the statistical processing technique SPSS, to perform verification of factor analysis and reliability of each variable, AMOS analysis was performed for hypothesis testing. According to the result of the study, belief systems which was sub-variables of family resiliency affect communication, and communication influence on the idea of adolescents suicide. In addition, the belief system has an indirect impact on the communication mediated suicidal thought. Thus, If we emphasize the harmony between family, suicidal thought of adolescent will be reduced. So we proposed the way to increase the belief of the family, and ways to improve communication between parents and children.
Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Mindfulness-based Emotion Management Training for adolescents immersed in self-harm behaviors. Methods: The participants were 61 middle school students located in Seoul. Thirty students were assigned to the Mindfulness-based Emotion Management Training (M-EMT) group and the other 31 students were assigned to the waitlist group. The students in the M-EMT group participated in a total of 12 sessions, twice a week, for 6 weeks. The modules of the program comprised of mindfulness for emotion, mindfulness for behavior/impulse, mindfulness for thought, and coping with self-harming behavior. The Distress Tolerance Scale, Deliberate Self-Harm Inventory, Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, and Scale Suicidal Ideation were assessed at baseline and post-intervention. Results: Compared to the waitlist group, the intervention group exhibited a statistically significant improvement in distress tolerance and cognitive emotion regulation and a statistically significant reduction in self-harming behaviors and suicidal ideation. Conclusion: These results support the hypothesis that mindfulness-based emotional management training has a positive effect on reducing self-harming behaviors and enhancing distress tolerance and cognitive emotional regulation.
Purpose: The depression of the elderly in recent years has been increasing every year due to the remarkable change of the psychological function, which has a great influence on the life. Depression which is a powerful predictor of suicide in elderly people, causes various psychological and social problems. In this study, we try to understand convergently about the adaptation experiences of the depressed elderly with suicidal ideation. Procedures and Methods: Seven elderly people with a GDS(Geriatric Depression Scale) score of ${\geq}17$ and a SSI(Scale for Suicidal Ideation) score of ${\geq}9$ in the self-help group were interviewed until theoretical saturation. Data were analyzed based on the Grounded theory method. Results and Contribution: Depressed elderly recognized the importance of being the center of their lives through interactions with peer groups and they started to embrace their lives. Further studies: Empirical studies on positive interactions with peer groups affecting the adjustment experience of depressed elderly should be expanded and continued.

Objectives: This study was performed to identify the associations of social capital with suicidal thoughts and attempts in Korean communities with poor health. Methods: We used the data from community health interviews conducted at 40 administrative sections (dong, eup, or myeon) with high mortality from August to October in 2010, 2011, and 2012 as part of the Health Plus Happiness Plus Projects in Gyeongsangnam-do Province. The 8,800 study subjects composed of 220 adults systematically sampled from each administrative section were asked if they had thought about suicide or had attempted suicide within 1 year. The social participation was measured with 'participation in formal and/or informal group' and trust using responses to three questions about trust of others. Results: The prevalence of suicidal ideation and attempt within 1 year were 10.4% and 0.8%, respectively. The logistic regression analysis revealed that those who participated in only informal groups, or had highest trust level reported less suicidal ideation, or attempt after adjusting for socio-demographic factors (sex, age, marital status, occupation, and food affordability), self-rated health, and health behaviors (smoking, alcohol drinking, and exercise). Conclusions: This study suggested social capital such as social participation and trust was associated with less suicide ideation and attempt. More studies are warranted for the association of social capital with suicidal behavior.
Background: The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the depressive mood experience of adults in their 20s. Methods: This study is a descriptive survey that conducted a secondary analysis using data from the 2017 Community Health Survey, which is conducted annually in Korea. The study targets 21,324 adults in their 20s. Data analysis was conducted after creating a composite sample plan file that reflected layering variables, colony variables, and weights. Results: Factors affecting the depressive mood experience were suicide thought experience, subjective stress level, gender, monthly household income, smoking status, subjective health level, breakfast status, participation in social activities, and whether the Internet, games, and smartphone interfered with daily life (p<0.05). Conclusion: It is necessary to establish and realize a system that enables early detection and support of depression and suicide high-risk groups at the individual, home, community, and national levels.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the personal factors affecting the ideation of suicide to identify the risk factors of suicide and to provide basic data for suicide prevention. The study subjects were 260 elderly people aged 65 or older who use the elderly general welfare center, the elderly classroom, and the senior club living in Jecheon City. The results of this study showed that personal factors affecting the idea of suicide in the elderly were significant in psychological factors such as stress, depression and loneliness. This means that the higher the stress, depression, and loneliness, the higher the elderly's suicide thought. In addition, the most influential factors in the idea of suicide of the elderly were stress, followed by loneliness and depression. Based on these findings, first, psychological treatment and prevention programs are needed to prevent suicide in the elderly. Second, it is necessary to expand the mental health support system, education and service for the elderly. Third, it is necessary to develop and disseminate stress coping, easing and arbitration programs.

Objectives Although impulsivity has long been thought as an important factor influencing suicidal behaviors, it is unknown whether impulsivity increases the risk of dying from suicidal behaviors and what specific component among constructs of impulsivity contributes to the risk of dying among suicide attempters. Methods To elucidate the association between impulsivity and medical lethality of suicide attempt among suicide attempters, we consecutively recruited 46 suicide attempters who visited an emergency room of a general hospital located in a metropolitan area, Seoul, Republic of Korea, due to suicide attempts and consented to participate in this study. Then we assessed medical lethality with the Beck Lethality Scale (LS) and impulsivity with the Korean version of the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale-11-Revised (BIS). Demographic variables were obtained from medical records and structured social work reports for suicide attempters. Results Although total scores of the BIS did not correlate with LS scores, only the scores of self-control, that is one of the Barrett's six theoretical constructs of impulsivity in which the higher score indicates less self-control and more impulsivity, had a significant positive correlation with scores of LS (p = 0.003). The association remained significant after adjusting for variables known to affect suicide lethality such as job status, recent alcohol consumption, diagnosis of depressive disorders, and having a plan for suicide (${\beta}=0.429$, p = 0.009). Conclusions Not impulsivity in general, but poor self-control, in particular, predicts lethal suicidal behaviors among suicide attempters. The degree of self-control should be evaluated when assessing patients with elevated suicide risk, and proper measures should be installed to prevent possible future lethal suicide attempts.

This study aims to understand the influence of COVID-19 on youth daily life by analyzing the correlation between youth health and diet according to whether economic status has changed due to COVID-19 and to provide basic data on program construction for the welfare of socially marginalized adolescents. As a result of the study, the proportion of respondents who answered that there was a change in economic status at a high rate for decreased academic performance (p<0.001), stress perception, and suicidal thoughts (p<0.001), and the proportion of decreased number of breakfasts and increased fast food consumption (p<0.001) was also high. These results of the study are thought to be the reason for the increase in adolescents who are alienated due to changes in home conditions due to COVID-19, which is expected to affect the physical and mental health of adolescents who lack communication and guidance, and the increase in delinquents rate due to reduced academic concentration and increased junk food intake. Therefore, through this study, it can be helpful to use basic data for the development of welfare programs such as non-face-to-face as basic data for teenagers alienated from COVID-19.
