  • The main purpose of this study was to examine the relations between Children's stress, self-esteem, and subjective well-being with a sample of 320 elementary school 5th graders (of which 161 were boys and 159 were girls) living in Seoul. They completed questionnaires on Children's stress, self-esteem, and subjective well-being. The results were analyzed by means of Pearson's correlation coefficients and regressions. It was observed that children's stress of studying/mother was negatively related to subjective well-being. Children's self-esteem was positively related to subjective well-being. Children's stress of studying/mother was negatively related to self-esteem. Self-esteem tended to play a perfectly mediating role between children's stress of studying/mother and subjective well-being. These results clearly indicate that children's self-esteem plays a crucial role in improving the levels of children's subjective well-being.

Data were analyzed by means of two-way ANOVA, Pearson's coefficients, and stepwise regression. Results indicated that : (1) There were age or gender differences for stress, academic self-efficacy, and subjective well-being. (2) Stress was negatively correlated with academic self-efficacy and subjective well-being, whereas academic self-efficacy was positively correlated with subjective well-being. (3) Stress and academic self-efficacy explained 43% of subjective well-being. Specifically, stress from parents was the most influential variable for positive affects, and self-regulatory efficacy was the most influential variable for positive efficacy and inter-relatedness.

Methods: This study was based on the 17th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey(KYRBS, 2021). A total of 54,848 individuals who responded to items regarding to depression, stress, and subjective oral symptoms were analyzed. Logistic regression analysis was performed to examine subjective oral-related symptoms according to depression and stress, and the analysis results were presented as OR (odds ratio) and 95% CI (confidence interval). Results: Among the subjective oral-related symptoms, 'aching and throbbing teeth' was 1.41 times (95% CI: 1.34-1.49) higher in the group with depression, and 1.40 times (95% CI: 1.31-1.51) was significantly higher in the group with stress. In the case of 'gum pain or bleeding', the symptoms were significantly higher in the group with depression and stress by 1.36 times (95% CI: 1.27-1.45), respectively. Conclusions: As a result of this study, it was found that depression and stress in Korean adolescents had an effect on subjective oral symptoms. Method: The subjects of this study were 283 female undergraduate nursing students in Korea. Data were collected using a self-reporting questionnaire. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Stepwise multiple regression and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. Results: Yangsaeng negatively correlated with stress (r=-.299, p<.001) but positively correlated with subjective happiness (r=.440, p<.001). Stress negatively correlated with subjective happiness (r=-.238, p<.001). Stepwise multiple regression revealed that Yangsaeng and satisfaction with the field of nursing explained 25.4% of subjective happiness. Conclusion: The Yangsaeng oriental health care regimen could lower stress and heighten subjective happiness. • This study explored pathways from mothers' beliefs to children's subjective well-being through children's private after-school activities and stress levels. A sample of 230 6th grade elementary school students (125 boys and 105 girls) in Seoul completed questionnaires on children's stress and subjective well-being. Their mothers responded to questionnaires on mothers' beliefs and children's private after-school activities. Data were analyzed by means of Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression analyses. Our results demonstrated that mothers' beliefs indirectly influenced children's subjective well-being through both children's private after-school activities and stress levels. Neither children's private after-school activities nor children's stress mediated between mothers' beliefs and children's subjective well-being. Mothers' beliefs also had a direct effect on children's subjective well-being. Significantly, both mothers' beliefs and children's stress played crucial roles in improving children's subjective well-being.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine subjective happiness related factors in Korean nursing students. Methods: A purposive sample of 200 nursing students was recruited for the cross-sectional survey design. The instruments were perceived stress scale, major satisfaction scale, resilience scale, and subjective happiness scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, hierarchical linear regression, and the Sobel test for testing mediating effects. Results: The mean score of stress, major satisfaction, resilience and subjective happiness was 2.21, 3.95, 3.60 and 5.03, respectively. Perceived health status, stress_positive perception, stress_negative perception, resilience_self confidence, resilience_positivity, resilience_social support had significant effects on subjective happiness. Explained variance for the subjective happiness was 53.4%. Resilience had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between stress and subjective happiness (Sobel test: Z=-5.67, p<.001). Also, resilience had a mediating effect in the relationship between major satisfaction and subjective happiness (Sobel test: Z=5.65, p<.001). Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, nursing intervention programs focusing on improving resilience are recommended to improve subjective happiness in nursing students.
