This study investigated general problems concerning the subject Chemical Engineering in the KDC(Korean Decimal Classification) 4th edition based on the comparative analysis with DDC, NDC, and Disciplinary Classification System of Korean Research Foundation, and suggested on some ideas for the improvements of them. The subject of chemical Engineering in the KDC 4th edition had to be improved to use current terminology, to choose appropriate headings, and to subdivide the subjects more to introduce new topics.

Recently, information on international trade goes on increasing in quantity because of the globalism and many related areas of the field. Most of libraries and informatin centers in Korea are using Dewey Decimal Classification(DDC), Library of congress Classification(LCC), and Korean Decimal Classification(KDC) to classify library materials on the subject. The application of three classification shcemes, DDC, LCC, and KDC were queried to determine the classification of materials on international trade. And analyses of the parts of international trade in three classification shemes were done in order to identify what major changes have made with the development of the field. There was subject scatter in DDC and LCC; there was an overlap among the classes of the three systems; and there was little change between present editions and the previous editions. The revision for international trade field of the KDC, the 4t edtition was suggested to help cover some deficiencies of the classification scheme. Inorder to develop a better KDC, the 5th edition, continuous revisions based upon the opinions of subject specialists and catalogers in the field are highly recommended.

Even though the variety of expressions are dealt with in Korean elementary mathematics, the systematization of the subject matter of expressions is still insufficient. This is basically due to the failure of revealing clearly the identity of expressions dealt with in elementary mathematics. In this paper, as a groundwork to improve this situation, after the classification of signs as elements constituting expressions, in a position to consider elementary mathematics using transitional signs such as ${\square}$, ${\triangle}$, etc and words or phrases in expressions, expressions were defined and classified based on that classification of signs. It can be presented as the conclusion that the following four judgements which helps to promote the systematization of the subject matter of expressions are possible through this definition and classifications. First, by clarifying the identity of the expressions, any mathematical clauses or sentences can be determined whether those are expressions or not. Second, Forms of expressions can be identified. Third, the subject matter of expressions can be identified systematically. Fourth, the hierarchy of the subject matter of expressions can be identified.

Though the computer has become deeply entrenched as the major tool in information processing(library works), it may be obvious that automatic book classification techniques ate still under experimentation, and the techniques have not yet been tested against the criterion of usefulness. The purpose of this study is to design of knowledge base for automatic book classification which can be put to use in library operation, and to present a methodology of application of the automatic classification into the library. Since the enumerative classification schemes which are existing are manual systems, it cannot be applied to the automatic classification, the principle of faceted classification based on concept analysis is brought in and studied. The result of this study are summarized as follows : 1. The design of knowledge base confined the field of agriculture and medicine. 2. If title is entered by the computer keyboard it will be searched in knowledge base, and then be classified by the principle of automatic classification. 3. Program flowcharts are designed as a bases of classification procedures for automatic subject recognition and classification. 4. 283 books in agriculture, 196 books in medicine were drawn at random from Taegu University Library and Young-Nal Medical Center Library respectively. 5. The experiment of automatic classification is performed 143 books in agriculture 166 books in medicine except for other subject books. 6. It was proved that automatic book classification is possible by design of knowledge base. In addition the expected values from design of knowledge base for automatic book classification are as follows : 1. The prompt and accurate process of classification is possible. 2. Though some title is classified in any library, it can be classified the some classification number by a program. 3. The user can retrieve the classification codes of books for which he or she wants to search through the computer. 4. Since the concept coordination method is employed the representing of a multisubject concept is make simple. 5. By performing automatic book classification the automation of total system can be achieved. 6. The efficient international information transfer will be advanced since all the institution maintain unified classification number.

In this paper, we explored the new method for extracting feature from the electroencephalography (EEG) signal based on linear regression technique with the orthonormal polynomial bases. At first, EEG signals from electrodes around motor cortex were selected and were filtered in both spatial and temporal filter using band pass filter for alpha and beta rhymic band which considered related to the synchronization and desynchonization of firing neurons population during motor imagery task. Signal from epoch length 1s were fitted into linear regression with Legendre polynomials bases and extract the linear regression weight as final features. We compared our feature to the state of art feature, power band feature in binary classification using support vector machine (SVM) with 5-fold cross validations for comparing the classification accuracy. The result showed that our proposed method improved the classification accuracy 5.44% in average of all subject over power band features in individual subject study and 84.5% of classification accuracy with forward feature selection improvement.

The Design Protection Act of Korea classifies industrial designs into examined-based and unexamined-based articles. For design application and registration under the DPA, applicable product for the design needs to be chosen in order for it to be registered. Clothing and personal belongings under class B in the classification list are subject to unexamined-based articles. A sound and logical classification system will lead to higher administrative efficiency as well as assurance of more convenience for the system users. This paper examines the suitability of the design classification for clothing and personal belongings and purposes to suggest improvements.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the guidelines for developing the effective classification scheme of woman studies on the Internet. In order to do that, fuve search engines and three subject web databases are analyzed based on the characteristics, problems of their classification schemes. In addition their classification schemes are measured in terms of coverage of subject fields and systematic logic. The results suggest the guidelines far classification scheme reflecting the characteristics of women's studies that ice interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary fields.

This study tries to compare the classification systems of major internet portals and their sub-portals specialized for the children and of major online book stores. It compares and analyzes the major directories of them and suggests recommendations not only to improve their own systems but also to apply to the development for the classification systems for children's library. Some of them are: (1) The system should reflect information requests and use behaviors of the children netizen. (2) It should select the terms reflecting the children's viewpoints and expressions and suggest the guidelines by ages. (3) It should maintain the clear hierarchies and grouping for the accessability and convenience of the users. (4) It will be helpful to establish the categories to mix the subject- or concept-based categories and the activities and objects of the children. (5) It will also be helpful to establish the categories based on the curricula added by those creating the imagination and interest and to subdivide by subject.

To search based on the functional classification or provenance is not easy for users, and the key word-based information retrieval presents only simple words matching with the title of the records. The Presidential Archive of Korea developed a subject classification scheme to improve the convenience of searching for various records and came up with a subject thesaurus based on the scheme that utilizes the terms appearing on the title of the records and the terms used by the users who searched the portal or requested information disclosure. This research presents the development process of subject thesaurus. It also presents the utilization methods for records management work and services.

This study suggests the development of a classification system for the Independent Movement Records of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs based on the collection of Gonghun Digital Archive based on sources, subjects, and media types. First, the classification system by source is organized by hierarchy, and the records classified by source are classified into the second category based on the related keyword. Then, the records are classified into 17 media types. Finally, it is described in the citation order of "source-subject-media type." In addition, a meaningful collection using inductive methods based on the subject words is derived. Finally, Gonghun Digital Archive collections are categorized by media types, sources, and subjects so that users can easily find the records. The result of this study is a classification system to support records retrieval of an independent movement collection, and it will become a basis for expanding the accessibility of the user and the service of independent movement records.
