  • This study investigated (1) the relation of aggressiveness to the outcome of conflict, intentional attribution, predicted response, and (2) friendship as a variable affecting intentional attribution and predicted response. The subjects are 78 fifth grade boys selected from a public elementary school located in Seoul. The children were individually tested by the researcher who read the items to the child. Dodge and Somberg's aggression questionnaire and Dodge and Frame's conflict outcome of ambiguosly intended stories were modified for use in this study. The instigator of aggression in the stories was classified as friend or non-friend and aggressive non-friend or nonaggressive non-friend. Two-way analyses of variance involving one between-subjects factor (aggression of subject) and one within-subjects factor (instigator combination) were performed on children's responses to three of the scales (hostile, neutral, positive). The results show that (1) there were differences in intentional attribution to the children's aggressiveness, regardless of the friendship status of the instigator, and (2) the predicted response to aggressiveness varied with type of instigator.

  • Discussing the history of mathematics in classrooms is often recommended as a way to help show that mathematics was not handed down unchanged from God into the students' notebooks but has been changing and growing throughout the centuries. Now that new millenium century is begun, it is appropriate for historians to look back and for teachers to show that mathematics is not only alive and well but in its most productive period ever. This paper is a brief summary that hints at the flavor of recent mathematical developments. Even if the actual content may be difficult, however, the exciting stories of the people, developments, results, and applications deserve coverage. These stories can add life to school mathematics and encourage our students to join in the fun.

  • The paper deals with the structural analysis and vibration test for the scaffolding system of LNG cargo containment. The eight-stories scaffolding system has telescopic area, working area, coner area and storage area in real system. In the structural analysis, the maximum displacement and stress of the each floor for the scaffolding system are investigated by finite element method. In the vibrational analysis, the natural frequencies and mode shapes for 8-stories scaffolding system of the LNG cargo containment are investigated. In order to compare theoretical natural frequencies with experimental ones, small size of 2-step scaffolding structure is used, and the theoretical results for natural frequency have a good agreement with experimental ones.

  • The severe shortage of the available sites in the highly developed downtown area in Korea necessitates the construction of high-rise buildings which meet the need of residence and commercial activity simultaneously. The objective of this study is to investigate the seismic performance of this type of building structures. For this purpose, two 1:12 scale 17-story reinforced concrete model structures were constructed according to the similitude law, in which the upper 15 stories have a bearing-wall system while the lower 2-story frames with infilled shear wall have two different layouts of the plan : The one has symmetric plan and the other has unsymmetric plan. Then, this model was subjected to a series of earthquake excitations. The test results show that the layout of shear wall has the negligible effect on the natural period and the base shear coefficient, but great effect on the failure mode of beam-column joint at flexible side frame.

  • Narratologists have long raised the question of how narrative theories could be applied to other disciplines that involve stories and storytelling. Focusing on recently revitalized concepts of space, sequence, and story, this article attempts to illustrate narrative constructions in various fields of arts and humanities and examine them particularly in typographical works. Through the concept of narrativity, this article highlights the prevalent uses of narrative in typography and scrutinizes the ways in which a sense of storyness is forming and emerging in some typographical works. Particularly emphasized are the importance of and interplay between the formal and cultural attributes of narrative that transform the spatial world of visual images to the temporal world of stories. Narrative is arguably the most familiar, interesting, and effective medium of communication regardless of age, race, and culture, and can be critically rethought to apply to typography and design.

  • Currently, natural aggregates of good quality are hard to use because of continuous decrease of internal aggregate resource and regulation of gathering. So, use of crushed sand was being increased. On the other hand, skyscraper projects with 100 stories are being planned within the country and high strength concrete must be used to construct a skyscraper with 100 stories. High strength concrete is necessary to use crushed sand too because we are still unable to secure natural aggregates of good quality. So, This study indicated basic data necessary for mix design of high strength concrete through valuation of concrete property by quality variation of crushed sand.

  • A modular house is a house that is assembled on-site from modularized units. As such units are manufactured in a factory, the construction period is reduced, resources are recycled, and quality is improved. However, the construction technique applied to conventional modular houses has not overcome certain structural restrictions, as it is currently used to build houses less than 4 stories in height, which means that it lacks economic feasibility. For this reason, this research aims to develop a scenario of a construction method for Korean modular housing that can be applied to urban-type housing higher than 12 stories. This research is expected to provide fundamental data necessary for the future development of a construction method for Korean modular housing.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the development of preschoolers'narrative competence. The subject were 60 preschoolers aged 3 through 5 years who were enrolled in the day care center All the subjects were asked to produce a new story. All the story children toad were recorded on audiotape. The data were analyzed Qualitatively and quantitatively using content analysis and the statistical package for Social Science 9.0. The main results of this study were as follows. 1) Significant age difference was observed in preschooler's narrative structure. Older children produced structurally more complex stories containing setting, character, initiating event, attempt and consequence than younger children. 2) Significant age difference was observed in preschooler's narrative length. Older children used significantly more words and sentence when they produced stories than younger children.3) Preschooler'narrative structure was significantly correlated with narrative length.

  • The role of branding has been to differentiate products, but brands have been increasingly applied to organizational image too. The brand image holds a key position by the marketing system in this era. The main purpose of this research is to analyze the case for the development of farm brand. A in-depth interview was conducted to analyze the case for development of farm brand in connection with agricultural products and their business operation. The farms used various stories in the process of develop brand including farm history, cultivation process, product, management, relationship with consumers. The study present the findings divide into brand naming, image, positioning. The farms built trust by consumer relationship with the farm brand. The results of the study provide insights for agricultural marketers who intend to design brand stories that align with their produce.
