On-State Resistance Instability of Programmed Antifuse Cells during Read Operation

  • The on-state resistance ($R_{ON}$) instability of standard complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) antifuse cells has been observed for the first time by using acceleration factors: stress current and ambient temperature. If the program current is limited, the $R_{ON}$ increases as time passes during read operation.

  • This paper describe VLSL design of crytographic processor which can execute triple DES and DES encryption algorithm. To satisfy flexible architecture and area-efficient structure, the processor has 1 unrolled loop structure without pipeline and can support four standard mode, such as ECB, CBC, CFB, and OFB modes. To reduce overhead of key computation , the key precomputation technique is used. Also to eliminate increase of processing time due to data input and output time, background I/O techniques is used which data input and output operation execute in parallel with encryption operation of cryptographic processor. The cryptographic processor is implemented using Altera EPF10K40RC208-4 devices and has peak performance of about 75 Mbps under 20 Mhz ECB DES mode and 25 Mbps uder 20 Mhz triple DES mode.

NVDIMM의 동작 특성 분석 및 개선 방안 연구 (Characterization and Improvement of Non-Volatile Dual In-Line Memory Module)

  • High performance non-volatile memory system can mitigate the gap between main memory and storage. However, no single memory devices fulfill the requirements. Non-volatile Dual In-line Memory Module (NVDIMM) consisted of DRAMs and NAND Flashes has been proposed to achieve the performance and non-volatility simultaneously. When power outage occurs, data in DRAM is backed up into NAND Flash using a small-size external energy storage such as a supercapacitor. Backup and restore operations of NVDIMM do not cooperate with the operating system in the NVDIMM standard, thus there is room to optimize its operation. This paper analysis the operation of NVDIMM and proposes a method to reduce backup and restore time. Particularly, data compression is introduced to reduce the amount of data that to be backed up and restored. The simulation results show that the proposed method reduces up to 72.6% of backup and restore time.

  • Standard Gate Turn Off (GTO) Thyristor drive technology results in inhomogeneous turn-on and turn-off transients which in turn needs costly dv/dt and di/dt snubber circuits. Added to this GTO is bulky in size, needs external cooling, slower switching time etc. The development of high voltage Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) have given new device advantage in the areas where they compete with conventional GTO technology. Indian Railway has developed first IGBT based traction converter and was commissioned in November 2006. Some of the supremacy of IGBT are smaller in size, no external cooling is required, built in power supply which enhances reliability, lower switching losses which leads to higher efficiency, reduced gate drive, high frequency operation in real time etc. These advantages are highlighted along with IGBT Traction system in operation.

Post Production in a Multi-format Environment

  • The introduction of broadcast digital television (DTV) was, at one time, seen as an opportunity to rationalise video formats. The reality is quite different with a rapid divergence as the united States' ATSC offers 18 formats to cover both standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD), and yet more are supported by Europe's DVB. At the same time multi-media is expanding both as an area for source material and for finished work. Post production needs to move away from single-format facilities as requirements for multi-format operation is already increasing. A 'format-independent' solution is described which allows efficient operation with any mix of input formats and able to output any format with high quality. Attention is given to retaining the speed, accuracy and immediacy which is a feature of today's professional facilities -even while handling the greater demands of HD. Another route, using 24 frames-per-second is also examined.

단축질소제거 공정을 이용한 가축분뇨의 적정 처리조건 연구 (Optimal Operation Condition of Livestock Wastewater Treatment Using Shortcut Biological Nitrogen Removal Process)

  • The feasibility of applying the shortcut nitrogen removal process to treat livestock wastewater on individual farms was examined, and appropriate operating parameters were established. As a result,, it was determined that the nitrification reaction was carried out under 550 mg/L of ammonium nitrogen concentration, but it was less effective under conditions of high ammonia concentration. Consequently, it was confirmed that a partial injection of inflow water was necessary to minimize the effects of ammonia toxicity. Following the sequential batch reactor (SBR) operation results, it was difficult to achieve the effluent quality standard without an external carbon source. Also, selection of the appropriate hydraulic retention time was critical for the optimal SBR operation. Following the livestock farm application, with external carbon source injecting, the total nitrogen concentration in the effluent was 85.1 mg/L. This result revealed that the standard could be accomplished through a single treatment on individual livestock farms. The ratio of nitrite nitrogen to ammonia nitrogen in the effluent was verified to be suitable for implementing the anammox process with a 10 days of hydraulic retention time. This study demonstrated the potential applicability of process in the future. However, in order to apply to livestock farms, managing variations in wastewater load across individual farms and addressing reduced nitrogen oxidation efficiency during the winter season are crucial.

A New Method for Efficient in-Place Merging

  • There is a well-known simple, stable standard merge algorithm, which uses only linear time but for the price of double space. This extra space consumption has been often remarked as lack of the standard merge sort algorithm that covers a merge process as central operation. In-place merging is a way to overcome this lack and so is a topic with a long tradition of inspection in the area of theoretical computer science. We present an in-place merging algorithm that rear-ranges the elements to be merged by rotation, a special form of block interchanging. Our algorithm is novel, due to its technique of determination of the rotation-areas. Further it has a short and transparent definition. We will give a presentation of our algorithm and prove that it needs in the worst case not more than twice as much comparisons as the standard merge algorithm. Experimental work has shown that our algorithm is efficient and so might be of high practical interest.

자동차 차체금형 가공용 공정계획 시스템 (A Process Planning System for Machining of Dies for Auto-Body Production)

  • This paper presents a variant type process planning system for machining of dies for auto-body production. Through the analysis of dies and their manufacturing processes, the authors categorized the press dies into 15 groups according to the similarity of machining features. After critically reviewing current manufacturing procedures, a standard process plan was defined for each group. The authors present MP3D the process planning system built on the standard process plan database, and show how they apply it at the die manufacturing plant of an automobile company. MP3D is expected to reduce major losses in machining such as reworking caused by mistakenly uncut features and eventually to help to accumulate the knowledge of operators. The operation sheet MP3D produces is also used in monitoring the progress of manufacturing of dies. This paper explains the whole development cycle of a process planning system from process analysis to application so that it can help readers to develop and apply a process planning system to their machine shops.

국내터널 굴착 사이클타임에 대한 분석결과와 표준품셈과의 비교 (An analysis of excavation cycle time for Korean tunnels and the comparison with the Standard of Construction Estimate)

  • 터널공사 시간 및 비용의 예측은 터널공사를 계획하는데 있어서 가장 기본적인 사항이며, 우리나라에서는 결정론적 방법에 따라 체계화된 표준품셈에 의해 계산하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 국내 터널 공사기간 또는 사이클타임의 신뢰성 있는 예측모델 구축이라는 장기적인 목표를 위하여, 우선 국내 터널 3개의 현장에 대한 터널굴착시간을 세부공종별로 분석하고, 터널설계시 공사기간을 추정하는 공식적인 방법인 표준품셈에서의 사이클타임과 비교하였다. 그 결과 실제 굴착 사이클타임은 표준품셈대비 3개의 터널 각각 50 %, 7%, 31% 수준의 차이를 보였고, 특히 숏크리트와 록볼트 타설시간에서는 각각 171%, 88%로 매우 큰 차이를 보였다. 이에 대한 가장 큰 이유는 표준품셈은 주된 작업공종별로만 작업시간이 분류되어 있어 터널작업자들의 숙련도, 각종 시공장비의 종류 및 사양, 또는 터널굴착작업에서 발생하는 다양한 시공조건을 고려하고 있지 않기 때문이다. 결국 본 연구결과는 현재까지 조사가 이루어진 터널 3개 현장의 특정한 상황에 대해서만 적용될 수 있으므로, 향후 터널굴착 세부작업시간에 대한 지속적인 데이터 축적을 통해 신뢰성 있는 터널굴진시간 예측모델을 구축할 계획이다.

Experimental Waveforms of Single-Pulse Soft-Switching PFC Converter

  • A new driving circuit for the SPSS (Single-Pulse Soft-Switching) PFC converter is proposed. The switching device of a SPSS converter switches once in every half cycle of an AC commercial power source. Therefore, it can be solved many problems caused by the high frequency operation. The proposed SPSS converter achieves the soft-switching operation and the EMI noise can be reduced. The resonant capacitor voltage supplies to the resonant inductor even if the input AC voltage is the vicinity of zero cross voltage. Then, the power factor and input current waveform can be improved without delay time. A new driving circuit achieves the operation of SPSS converter by one switching drive circuit. The proposed converter can be satisfied the IEC standard sufficiently
