  • This paper newly analyzes the effect of the phase noise in the frequency synthesizer on the performance of SFH/M-NCFSK system by standard frequency deviation(equation omitted) when noncoherent FSK demodulation of the square-law detector is considered. We derive the SER in the SFH system and analyze the effect of phase noise on the SFH/M-NCFSK system performance according to the hopping frequency spacing (1/T$\_$h/) and the variation of the standard frequency deviation (equation omitted). The required SNR is about 13.4 dB to meet Ps=10$\^$-3/ when the standard frequency deviation is about 4.0 Hz and the hopping frequency spacing (1/T$\_$h/) in the SFH/2-NCFSK system is 30. So, there is about 2.4 dB power penalty than the phase noise-free system. If the hopping frequency spacing 1/T$\_$h/ is under 30, the error floor may happen and SER considerably grows up. We show that the analytic results closely match with the simulation results.

  • In this study, OSA (the obstructive sleep apnea) periods were detected in patients with OSA during sleep because of the treatment was different according to the frequency and symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea. ANS (autonomic nervous activity) was changed by obstructive sleep apnea periods so we intended to detect the periods to care the obstructive sleep apnea patients. RR intervals, SDNN (standard deviation of normal to normal) and RMSSD (root mean square standard deviation) were calculated in time domain analysis and LF (low frequency), HF (high frequency), NHF (normalized high frequency), NLF (normalized low frequency) were calculated in frequency domain analysis of HRV (heart rate variability) with obstructive sleep apnea patients. In this paper, SDNN (standard deviation of normal to normal) of time domain analysis were decreased in the obstructive sleep apnea periods. And NLF and LF/HF ratio were increased and NHF (normalized high frequency) was decreased in the frequency domain analysis. The parameters can be used to treat obstructive sleep apnea patients by detecting the obstructive sleep apnea periods such as CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure).

  • In this paper we propose a new noise reduction algorithm for stationary and nonstationary noisy environments. Our algorithm classifies the speech and noise signal contributions in time-frequency bins, and is not based on a spectral algorithm or a minimum statistics approach. It relies on calculating the ratio of the standard deviation of the noisy power spectrum in time-frequency bins to its normalized time-frequency average. We show that good quality can be achieved for enhancement speech signal by choosing appropriate values for ${\delta}_t\;and\;{\delta}_f$. The proposed method greatly reduces the noise while providing enhanced speech with lower residual noise and somewhat higher mean opinion score (MOS), background intrusiveness (BAK) and signal distortion (SIG) scores than conventional methods.

  • The reproducibility of measured level is a prior condition for the reliable assessment of the sound insulation performance. To review the reproducibility of impact sound level, 20 floors were selected in highrise apartment house, and then impact sound levels of two kinds of typical floors were measured with 10 times in each receiving point. The impact sound insulation class values were derived with a standard tapping machine and bang machine. Inspection of the result showed that smaller scale of the room caused to lower the reproducibility and that the higher values of standard deviation in lower frequency caused to deteriorate the reliability of assesment. Thus to enhance the reproducibility of the impact sound insulation class, greater allowable deviation of measured level is required in lower frequency than in higher one.

  • The dynamic characteristics of rotor shafts for electric motors were investigated through the modal tests. The natural frequencies and modal dampings in each manufacturing stage of rotor core assembly were analyzed from the frequency response functions fer all 6 motors of a product model. The deviation of the each individual modal feature was found dependent on the mode shapes as well as the rotor assembly stage. The core stacking itself is known to widen the deviation of modal properties but fellowing processes of rotor bar insertion and swaging are confirmed to reduce the deviation. Finally the equivalent diameter of core part was estimated from the comparison of measured and calculated results to include the stiffness of core part.

  • The Bollinger Band indicating the current price position in the recent price action range is obtained by adding/substracting the simple standard deviation (SSD) to/from the simple moving average (SMA). In this paper, we first compare the characteristics of the SMA and the exponential moving average (EMA) in the operator's point of view. A basic equation is obtained between the interval length N of the SMA operator and the weighting factor ${\rho}$ of the EMA operator, that makes the centers of the 1st order momentums of each operator impulse respoinse identical. For equivalent N and ${\rho}$, frequency response examples are obtained and compared by using the discrete time Fourier transform. Based on observation that the SMA operator reacts more excessively than the EMA operator, we propose a novel exponential standard deviation (ESD) band centered at the EMA and derive an auto recursive formula for the proposed ESD band. Practical examples for the ESD band show that it has a smoother bound on the price action range than the Bollinger Band. Comparisons are also made for the gap corrected chart to show the advantageous feature of the ESD band even in the case of gap occurrence. Trading techniques developed for the Bollinger Band can be straight forwardly applied to those for the ESD band.

  • Heart rate variability is significantly associated with cardiovascular complications in various neurological disorders with cardiac impairment. Measures of spontaneous heart rate variability might be different from provocating tests of heart rate variability such as deep breathing and Valsava maneuver. Methods for analysis are divided into time domain methods and frequency domain methods. There are standard deviation of NN interval, standard deviation of average NN interval, root mean square of the successive differences, NN50, and pNN50 in time domain methods. Frequency domain bands can be divided into very low, low, and high frequency. Each variables are influenced by sympathetic and/or parasympathetic activity.

  • This study attempts to analyse the solid mixing in the feeder and the packing effect for pressure fluctuations in the fluidized bed. To study the mixing characteristics of solid in vibrating feeder for the stable operations of fluidized combustion, the system consisted of two groups of particles such that fine particles were located on the top of the coarse particles before vibratory mixing had started. The effects of packing materials on the pressure fluctuations in a fluidized bed were analysed by using a statistical method to interpret the behavior of fluidized bed. The experiments were carried out in a fluidized bed of 6.7cm-ID, and the experimental variables were particle sizes, of 115 to 1,015$\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter and the multi-sized particles haying Rosin-Rammler and Gaussian distributions. The settled bed heights of particles to diameter ratios (L/D) were ranged from 0.5 to 2.0. And fluidizing of particles was carried out by air. The packing materials used were screen packing, and the properties of the pressure fluctuations in the fluidized bed were measured by a differential pressure transducer. The properties of the pressure fluctuations calculated were the mean, the standard deviation, and the major frequency of the power spectral density functions. From the characteristics of fluidizing, it was found that the standard deviation of pressure fluctuations could be effectively used to explain the fluidized phenomena, and the packing materials affected severely the properties of the pressure fluctuations. As a result, from the interpretation by spectral analysis, the effects of measuring radius of pressure fluctuations on standard deviation were constant in the case of the fluidized bed with and without packing materials. However, the effects of measuring the height of pressure fluctuations on standard deviations were linear increasing for the fluidized bed with packing materials, but were constant for the fluidized bed without packing materials at 4.5cm above the gas distributor. The major frequency of pressure fluctuations was found to be nearly independent of fluidized system. Also, the major frequency of pressure fluctuations decreased with increasing packing size, and it had maximum value at 10% of the packing amount.

  • The alternative binary offset carrier (AltBOC) signal shares frequency spectrum with the phase shift keying (PSK) signal, enabling us to manage the satellite communication spectrum more efficiently. However, the side-peaks in the AltBOC autocorrelation pose an ambiguity in the AltBOC signal tracking, and consequently, makes the frequency sharing via the AltBOC difficult. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a cancellation scheme of the AltBOC correlation side-peaks. From the numerical results, it is confirmed that the proposed scheme removes the ambiguity in signal tracking caused by the side-peaks completely, and thus, has a much lower tracking error standard deviation (TESD) (i.e., a much better tracking performance) than the conventional scheme.
