1.29 GHz 도플러 윈드프로파일러 스펙트럼에서 전파 간섭 신호 제거 (Removal of Radio Frequency Interference of 1.29 GHz Doppler Wind Profiler Radar)

  • 윈드프로파일러 시제품의 시험 운용 기간 중 스펙트럼에 전파 간섭(RFI: Radio Frequency Interference) 오염이 발생하였다. 윈드프로파일러 spectra에 나타나는 전파 간섭 제거 알고리즘의 개발 과정과 그 결과를 조사하였고, 전파 간섭을 제거하기 위한 새로운 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 스펙트럼 폭의 임계값 0.1 m/s로 우선 필터링하고 연직 빔인지 경사 빔인지에 따라 동일한 시선속도가 연속되는 gate 수 범위를 결정하였다. 전파 간섭 오염은 비기상 신호의 필터링과 스캔을 통해 제거되었고, 개선된 스펙트럼의 시선속도로부터 산출된 바람벡터의 연속성으로 검증되었다.

Full spectrum estimation of helicopter background and cosmic gamma-ray contribution for airborne measurements

  • The airborne radiation monitoring has been used in geophysics for more than forty years and now it also has its important role in emergency monitoring. The aircraft background and the cosmic gamma-rays contribute to the measured gamma spectrum on the aircraft board. This adverse effect should be eliminated before the data processing. The paper describes two semiparametric methods to estimate the full spectrum aircraft background and cosmic gamma-ray contribution from spectra measured at altitudes where terrestrial contribution is negligible. The methods only assume to know possible peak positions in spectra and their full width at half maximum, that can be easily obtained e.g. from terrestrial measurement. The methods were applied to real experimental data acquired on Mi-17 and Bell 412 helicopter boards. The IRIS airborne gamma-ray spectrometer, with 4×4 L NaI(Tl) crystals, produced by Pico Envirotec Inc., Canada, was used on helicopters' boards. To obtain valid estimate of the aircraft background and the cosmic contribution, the measurements over sea and large water areas were carried out. However, the satisfactory results over inland were also achieved comparing with those acquired over large water areas.

  • For motor operation at low speeds and loads, torque pulsation by the cogging torque is often a source of vibration and control difficulty. In this paper, the magnetic field of a motor is calculated by finite element method. The periodic cogging torque is determined using Maxwell stress method and time stepping method, and then decomposed using fourier series expansion, The purpose of this paper is to characterize design parameters on the cogging torque and to design a permanent magnet motor with a cogging torque less vulnerable to vibration, without sacrificing the motor performance. The design parameters include stator slot width, permanent magnet slot width, airgap length and magnetization direction. A new design with a less populated frequency spectrum of the cogging torque is proposed after characterizing individual effect of design parameters. Magnet pole edge shaping, by gradually increasing the cogging torque with reduced higher harmonics.

  • Photonic crystals containing multiple rugate structure are prepared by electrochemical etchings. Typically etched rugate PSi prepared in this study. Etching is carried out in a Teflon cell by using a two-electrode configuration with a Pt mesh counter electrode. They exhibit sharp photonic band gaps in the optical reflectivity spectrum. This reflectivity can be tuned to appear anywhere in the visible to near-infrared spectral range, depending on the programmed etch waveform. We study the method of full width half maxima and reflectivity index control by using amplitude.

Thermal Properties of Mn-doped LiNbO3 Crystals from Magneto-Optical Transitions

  • In this study, we determine that the electron paramagnetic resonance line-width (EPRLW) is axially symmetric about the c-axis and analyze the spin Hamiltonian with an isotopic g-factor of 1.9920 at a frequency of 9.5 GHz. It should be noted that the electron paramagnetic resonance signals are Lorentzian. Our findings show that the EPRLW decreases exponentially with an increase in the temperature; i.e., its temperature dependence in the range 300-400 K obeys Arrhenius behavior, this kind of temperature dependence indicates an off-center a motional narrowing of the spectrum when $Mn^{2+}$ impurity ions substitute for $Nb^{5+}$ ions. The specific heats follow a linear dependence suggesting a simple Debye $T^3$ behavior.

長方形柱 後流에 關한 實驗的 硏究 (An experimental Study of the Wake Flow Past a Rectangular Cylinder)

  • This paper describes characteristics of the flow pattern of the flow past a rectangular cylinder experimentally investigated. The width-to-length ratio of the section varried from 2 to4. For the statistical treatment, autocorrelation coefficient, probability density function and power spectral density function are obtained by the digital processing technic through on-line system with a hot wire anemometer. As a results, it was found that strong periodic coherent eddies structure is sustained to about 20H downstream from the cylinder. And nearer the cylinder in the wake, the number of turbulent eddies of a large scale coherent structure are comparatively much more dominant than that of a small scale one. By the analysis of power spectrum, It was cleared that there exists a certain range of the width to length ratio between 2.5 and 3 of which the flow pattern changes abruptly with a sudden discontinuity in Strouhal number.

Field Measurements of Wave Directionality in Water of Finite Depth

  • Field measurements of directional waves were carried out during the summer of 2002 at two coastal sites in water of finite depth. A couple of general purpose instruments were used employing acoustic Doppler technology. The aim of the study was to investigate the spatial behavior of the directional movement of waves as they come ashore. In total,74 tests were carried out during which sea states of low to moderate intensity were recorded. A great number of these runs displayed bimodal characteristics of the spreading function at high frequencies. It was found that in general, the frequency-integrated directional width tends to broaden as the water shoals and when refraction effects are negligible. This is attributed to wave-wave interactions that become pronounced in shallow water. The same directional width showed, also, a tendency to increase with increasing peak frequency of the sea state spectrum. The behavior of the kurtosis of the spreading function was also examined. It was found that for higher frequencies this index tends to increase in wave spectra above a certain sea severity threshold.

묵호항의 파랑특성 (Statisticall Characteristics of Sea Waves at Mookho)

  • The statatistical characteristics and spectra of sea waves at Mookho were analysed by several statistical methods. As the results, the following conclusions are obtained: 1. Values of surface elevation of sea wave are better fitted to Gram Charlier distribution than Gaussian distribution. This proves that sea waves have not only characters of irregularity but also non-linearity. 2. Distribution of maxima of surface elevation practically follows the distribution of Cartwright and Longuet-Higgins, also spectral width parameter is found to be increased with the increase of root mean square of surface elevation. 3. Sea wave may have spectrum of broad frequency band, however distributions of wave heights and periods follow the Rayleigh distribution which is derived from the assumption of narrow frequency band. 4. Ratios among mean wave heights from observed data show good agreements with theoretical values from Rayleigh distribution. 5. Spectral density and spectral width parameter increase with increase of wind velocity. And wave period at optimum band gas higher value than significant wave period by about 10 percent.

Electron Spin Resonance Investigation of Fe3+ in Crystalline LiNbO3 Under the Polarized External Radiation

  • We study the electron spin resonance line-width (ESRLW) of $Fe^{3+}$ in crystalline $LiNbO_3$ ; the ESRLW is obtained using the projection operator method (POM) developed by Argyres and Sigel. The ESRLW is calculated to be axially symmetric about the c-axis and is analyzed by the spin Hamiltonian with an isotopic g factor at a frequency of 9.5 GHz. The ESRLW increases exponentially as the temperature increases, and the ESRLW is almost constant in the high-temperature region (T>8000 K). This kind of temperature dependence of the ESRLW indicates a motional narrowing of the spectrum when $Fe^{3+}$ ions substitute the $Nb^{5+}$ ions in an off-center position. It is clear from this feature that there are two different regions in the graph of the temperature dependence of the ESRLW.

과속방지턱 설치규격 검토를 위한 동역학적 분석 (Dynamic Analysis for Evaluation of Speed Control Hump Dimensions)

  • 본 연구는 과속방지턱의 설치규격 특성을 검토하기 위하여 동역학적 이론을 기반으로 분석을 수행하였다. 먼저 과속방지턱에 대한 현장조사를 통해 기하구조 자료를 수집하여 현행 설치기준과 비교 분석하였으며, 차량과 운전자를 일체화시킨 단자유도 모델링 방법을 이용하여 충격하중에 의한 변위응답 스펙트럼을 구하였다. 해석 결과 과속방지턱의 폭과 높이는 커질수록 운전자에게 미치는 심리적 부담감이 커지나 과도한 불편함을 초래하지 않도록 크기를 결정해야 하는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 과속방지턱의 폭과 높이의 비율은 운전자가 느끼는 수직가속도의 크기를 지배하므로 폭과 높이의 조화도 고려하여 과속방지턱을 설치하여야 한다.
