음성엔코더 시뮬레이션에 사용되는 난수발생기 설계 (Design of Random Number Generator for Simulation of Speech-Waveform Coders)

  • 본 논문에서는 음성엔코더 (speech-waveform coder) 시뮬레이션에 사용할 수 있는 난수발생기를 설계하였다. 설계된 난수발생기는 규정된 확률밀도함수와 규정된 스펙트럼을 동시에 만족해야 하는 환경에서 필요로 하는 것이다. 선형필터와 메모리가 없는 비선형 회로로 구성되는 Sondhi 알고리즘 [1]을 기반으로 하여 난수발생기를 구현하였고, 균일 분포, 이진 분포, 감마 분포와 같은 연속적인 확률분포함수들을 얻기 위해 필요한 선형필터와 비선형 회로를 구현하는 방법을 연구하였다. 또한 분석적인 방법을 통하여 구현해야 하는 비선형 회로가 비대칭 형태로 표현되지 않는 경우 (카이-제곱 분포, lognormal 분포)와 수학식으로 표현할 수 없는 경우 (Student-t 분포, F 분포)에는 Sondhi 알고리즘이 동작하지 않음을 보였다.

강박 장애의 정량화 뇌파 소견 (Quantitative Electroencephalographic Findings in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)

  • 서울대학교병원 신경정신과 외래를 방문한 강박 장애 환자 19명(남자 14명, 여자 5명)과 연령과 성별을 맞춘 정상 대조군 19명을 내상으로 뇌파를 측정하고, 스펙트럼 분석하여 절대력, 상대력, 양반구간 비대칭도 등의 지표를 비교하였다. 그 결과를 뇌 영상화 방법을 사용한 기존의 강박 장애의 이상 소견과 비교하고, 강박 장애 환자에서 특징적으로 나타나는 정량화 뇌파의 지표를 발견하고자 하였다. 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 절대력은 환자군의 Fp1-Fp2, T3-T4 부위에서 theta파의 절대력이 감소가 통계적으로 의미있게 관찰되었다. 2) 상대력은 환자군의 Fp1-Fp2, F3-F4 부위에서 delta파의 증가가 통계적으로 의미있게 관찰되었다. 3) 양반구간 비대칭도의 경우 환자군에서 alpha파와 beta파의 F7/T3-F8/T4의 전극에서 비대칭도가 유의미하게 증가되는 것이 관찰되었다. 이상에서 강박장애에서 나타나는 정량화 뇌파의 각 지표의 소견이 기존의 여러 뇌 영상화 방법을 이용한 강박 장애의 소견과 비슷한 결과를 보이고 있음올 알 수 있고, 이는 강박 장애의 발병 기전과 전두엽과 기저핵의 이상이 서로 관련이 있을 것이라는 가성을 뒷받침해주는 소견이다.

  • 이 논문에서는 자원을 공유하는 여러 개의 QoS(Quality of Service) 큐(queue)를 서비스하기 위한 새로운 서비스 규칙 - 선형 서비스 규칙을 제안하고, 그 특징을 분석하였다. 제안하는 선형 서버는 각각의 큐에 대한 출력 트래픽(traffic) 및 고객 수 과정을 입력 트래픽의 선형 함수로 만든다 특히 입력 트래픽이 가우스 분포를 갖는 경우에는 큐 길이의 분포와 출력 트래픽 분포가 모두 가우스 분포를 갖게 하며, 그 분포의 평균과 분산이 입력 트래픽의 평균과 전력 스펙트럼(power Spectrum)의 함수로 나타나게 한다. 중요한 QoS 척도인 버퍼 넘침 확률 및 지연 분포 역시 입력 트래픽의 평균과 전력 스펙트럼의 함수로 나타나게 된다. 이 연구는 네트워크의 각 노드를 하나의 선형 필터로 볼 수 있게 하므로, 선형 시스템 이론에 기초한 네트워크 전반에 걸친 트래픽 관리 기술의 새로운 방향을 제시하였다.

Chemical Composition of RM_1-390 - Large Magellanic Cloud Red Supergiant

  • A high resolution spectroscopic observation of the red supergiant star RM_1-390 in the Large Magellanic Cloud was made from a 3.6 m telescope at the European Southern Observatory. Spectral resolving power was R=20,000, with a signal-to-noise ratio S/N > 100. We found the atmospheric parameters of RM_1-390 to be as follows: the effective temperature $T_{eff}=4,250{\pm}50K$, the surface gravity ${\log}\;g=0.16{\pm}0.1$, the microturbulent velocity $v_{micro}=2.5km/s$, the macroturbulence velocity $v_{macro}=9km/s$ and the iron abundance $[Fe/H]=-0.73{\pm}0.11$. The abundances of 18 chemical elements from silicon to thorium in the atmosphere of RM_1-390 were found using the spectrum synthesis method. The relative deficiencies of all elements are close to that of iron. The fit of abundance pattern by the solar system distribution of r- and s-element isotopes shows the importance of the s-process. The plot of relative abundances as a function of second ionization potentials of corresponding chemical elements allows us to find a possibility of convective energy transport in the photosphere of RM_1-390.

Effects of Vibration Fatigue on Compression Strength of Corrugated Fiberboard Containers for Packaging of Fruits during Transport

  • Purpose: The compression strength of corrugated fiberboard containers used to package agricultural products rapidly decreases owing to various environmental factors encountered during the distribution of unitized products. The main factors affecting compression strength are moisture absorption, long-term top load, and fatigue caused by shock and vibration during transport. This study characterized the durability of corrugated fiberboard containers for packaging fruits and vegetables under simulated transportation conditions. Methods: Compression tests were done after corrugated fiberboard containers containing fruit were vibrated by an electro-dynamic vibration test system using the power spectral density of routes typically traveled to transport fruits and vegetables in South Korea. Results: To predict loss of compression strength owing to vibration fatigue, a multiple nonlinear regression equation ($r^2=0.9217$, $RMSE=0.6347$) was developed using three independent variables of initial container compression strength, namely top stacked weight, loading weight, and vibration time. To test the applicability of our model, we compared our experimental results with those obtained during a road test in which peaches were transported in corrugated containers. Conclusions: The comparison revealed a highly significant ($p{\leq}0.05$) relationship between the experimental and road-test results.

실험실적 방법에 의한 Color CRT와 염색직물의 칼라 매칭 (Color matching of color CRT and dyed fabric by using experimental method)

  • The accurate representation of the colors of dyed fabric on a color CRT(cathode ray tube) screen is the basis for the automatic process in dyeing industry. In the former study, we had focused on the theoretically color matching method between CIE(International Commission on illumination) and RGB color coordinates, but In this study we tried simulating the colors obtained from fabrics on the color CRT by using experimental method. we obtained the following results. 1. We could simulate all of the color CRT by gamut mapping method, even though some of the KOSCOTE(Korea Standard Color of Textile) colors represented on the color CRT didn't exist in the region of color region 2. We could do conditional matching by CIE system, even though it was hard to do invariant matching the Red, Green, Blue phosphors of the color CRT because of the SPD(Spectral Power Distribution) which had been set up before. 3. We could simulate all the colors obtained from fabrics on the color CRT by matching those two color groups from KOSCOTE fabrics and color CRT using match algorithm and matching programs. 4. If we get over on obstacles by grafting CCM and CCK machines which have been used in educational and industrial areas by matching KOSCOTE with color CRT we will be able to invent color simulation system controled automatically.

  • 자기지전류 탐사의 적용에 있어 인공잡음의 영향은 탐사의 승패를 좌우하는 매우 중요한 요소이며 인공잡음의 영향을 최소화할 수 있는 탐사의 설계와 자료처리가 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 수치공간자료들에서 추정되는 인공잡음의 영향과 실제 탐사 자료 간의 상관관계를 살펴봄으로써 자기지전류 탐사에 있어 공간자료의 활용가능성을 고찰하였다. 60Hz 조화파 대역에서는 건물과 도로가 주요한 인공잡음원이며 잡음원의 분포와 자기장의 파워가 서로 상관관계를 가짐을 확인하였다. 'Dead band'로 불리는 0.05-0.5Hz 대역에서는 매우 강한 분극을 가지는 신호가 광범위하게 관찰되고 있으며 이는 탐사지역에 인접한 거대도시의 영향으로 추정된다.

Influence of non-Gaussian characteristics of wind load on fatigue damage of wind turbine

  • Based on translation models, both Gaussian and non-Gaussian wind fields are generated using spectral representation method for investigating the influence of non-Gaussian characteristics and directivity effect of wind load on fatigue damage of wind turbine. Using the blade aerodynamic model and multi-body dynamics, dynamic responses are calculated. Using linear damage accumulation theory and linear crack propagation theory, crack initiation life and crack propagation life are discussed with consideration of the joint probability density distribution of the wind direction and mean wind speed in detail. The result shows that non-Gaussian characteristics of wind load have less influence on fatigue life of wind turbine in the area with smaller annual mean wind speeds. Whereas, the influence becomes significant with the increase of the annual mean wind speed. When the annual mean wind speeds are 7 m/s and 9 m/s at hub height of 90 m, the crack initiation lives under softening non-Gaussian wind decrease by 10% compared with Gaussian wind fields or at higher hub height. The study indicates that the consideration of the influence of softening non-Gaussian characteristics of wind inflows can significantly decrease the fatigue life, and, if neglected, it can result in non-conservative fatigue life estimates for the areas with higher annual mean wind speeds.

Detection of SCC by Electrochemical Noise and In-Situ 3-D Microscopy

  • Stress-corrosion cracking (SCC) of alloy 600 and alloy 800 in 0.5 mol/L thiosulfate solution during constant strain was investigated using electrochemical noise (EN) combined with 3-D microscope techniques. The in-situ morphology observation and EN results indicate that the SCC process could be divided into three stages: (1) passive film stabilization and growth, (2) crack initiation, (3) and crack growth. Power Spectral Density (PSD) and the probability distribution obtained from EN were used as the "fingerprint" to distinguish the different processes. During passive film stabilization and growth, the current noise signals resembled "white noise": when the crack initiated, many transient peaks could be seen in the current noise and the wavelet energy at low frequency as well as the noise resistance decreased. After crack propagation, the noise amplitudes increased, particularly the white noises at low and high frequencies ($W_L$ and $W_H$) in the PSDs. Finally, the detection of metal structure corrosion in a simulated sea splash zone and pipeline corrosion in the atmosphere are established.
