  • In this paper, we analyze the efficiency of a domain decomposition method for the two-dimensional telegraph equations. We formulate the theoretical spectral radius of the iteration matrix generated by the domain decomposition method, because the rate of convergence of an iterative algorithm depends on the spectral radius of the iteration matrix. The theoretical spectral radius is confirmed by the experimental one using MATLAB. Speedup and operation ratio of the domain decomposition method are also compared as the two measurements of the efficiency of the method. Numerical results support the high efficiency of the domain decomposition method.

  • This paper presents Spectral-Domain optical measurement system using self-fabricated CCD sensor driver. The light source is a high brightness white LED and the detector is a 2048 array typed CCD image sensor. I have fabricated the CCD sensor driver to generate four pulse signals, which are the CCD-driving pulses. Using this Spectral Domain optical measurement system, the distance value between the reference mirror and the sample mirror can be obtained successfully.

  • We present a quantification protocol to get the alignment factors of a custom-made spectrometer and the nonlinear fitting function between the measured CCD pixel domain and the wavelength domain to apply the spectral-domain optical coherence tomography using fiber Bragg gratings. We have used 4 different center wavelength gratings with a narrow spectral bandwidth (<0.05 nm) and the same reflectivity (>92 %) to calibrate and align the custom-made spectrometer.

  • One of the main unresolved issues in large-eddy simulation(LES) of wall-bounded turbulent flows is the requirement of high spatial resolution in the near-wall region, especially in the spanwise direction. Such high resolution required in the near-wall region is generally used throughout the computational domain, making simulations of high Reynolds number, complex-geometry flows prohibitive. A grid-embedding strategy using a nonconforming spectral domain-decomposition method is proposed to address this limitation. This method provides an efficient way of clustering grid points in the near-wall region with spectral accuracy. LES of transitional and turbulent channel flow has been performed to evaluate the proposed grid-embedding technique. The computational domain is divided into three subdomains to resolve the near-wall regions in the spanwise direction. Spectral patching collocation methods are used for the grid-embedding and appropriate conditions are suggested for the interface matching. Results of LES using the grid-embedding strategy are promising compared to LES of global spectral method and direct numerical simulation. Overall, the results show that the spectral domain-decomposition grid-embedding technique provides an efficient method for resolving the near-wall region in LES of complex flows of engineering interest, allowing significant savings in the computational CPU and memory.

  • Microstrip patch antennas are analyzed by a multiresolution wavelet method. The spectral Green's dyad of the structure is obtained and its joint spatial-spectral domain representations are presented. Based on the joint spatial-spectral domain representation, we show that the spectral-domain wavelets are useful in the analysis of this problem. We obtain the matrix equations of the integral equations of this Green's dyad by using the method of moment(MoM), and efficiently solve the problem using the spectral domain wavelet transform concepts in conjuction with the conjugate gradient method. The results for a single-layered square patch are compared with those of conventional MoM and CG-FFT.

  • In this paper, by applying the spectral domain wavelet concept to Green function, a fast spectral domain calculation of scattered fields is proposed to get the solution for the radiation integral. The spectral domain wavelet transform to represent Green function is implemented equivalently in space via the constant-Q windowing technique. The radiation integral can be calculated efficiently in the spectral domain using the windowed Green function expanded by its eigen functions around the observation region. Finally, the same formulation as that of the conventional fast multipole method (FMM) is obtained through the windowed Green function and the spectral domain calculation of the radiation integral.

  • Recently reported asynchronous-optical-sampling terahertz (THz) time-domain spectroscopy enables high-resolution spectroscopy due to a long time-delay window. However, a long-lasting tail signal following the main pulse is often measured in a time-domain waveform, resulting in spectral fluctuation above a background noise level on a high-resolution THz amplitude spectrum. Here, we adopt the wavelet power spectrum estimation technique (WPSET) to effectively remove the spectral fluctuation without sacrificing spectral features. Effectiveness of the WPSET is verified by investigating a transmission spectrum of water vapor.

  • The microwave imaging technique which is mostly analyzed in the spectral domain has been exploited the image reconstruction of object using the 2-dimensional inverse Fourier transform so far. In this paper, a new method of microwave imaging corresponding to a coherent tomographic scheme in the space domain is presented for the conducting objects. Also, it is shown that image reconstruction for lines targets and conducting circular cylinder is per-formed by computer simulation using the filtered-backprojection which is the reconstruction algorithm widely used in X-ray CT. The proposed method analyzed in the space domain can reconstruct the image without any problems such as interpolation and image artifact which results from the reconstruction in the spectral domain for the symmetric conducting objects located in the origin. The image reconstructed by the filtered-backprojection in the space domain has given the superior quality compared with that produced by 2-dimensional IFFT using the interpolation scheme in the spectral domain. Finally, the image of line targets using the moment-method in the space domain which does not require the wide-band signal as the spectral domain has shown a possibility of super-resolution in the microwave imaging.

  • An analysis of the microstripline is started as an assumption of the axial & transveral current distribution. Applying the boundary conditions to the scalar wave equations of a electric & magnetic potential, the two simultaneous coupled integral equations are produced. The electronmagnetic fields in microstrip line can be obtained by solving these two coupled integral equaltion. In general, either a numerical analysis method or a Galerkin method was used to solve them. In this paper, a residue theorem is proposed to solve them. The electromagnetic fields are expressed as integral equations for LSE and LSM mode in the spectral domain. Applying a residue theorem to the Fourier transformed equation and Fourier inverse transformed equation which is necessary for interchanging the space domain and the spectral domain, the electromagnetic fields are expressed as algebraic equations whichare relatively easier to handle. the distributions of the electromagnetic field are shown at the range of -5w/2.leq.x.leq.5w/2, 0.lep.y.leq.4h for z=0. It agrees well with the results of the Quasi-TEM mode analysis.
