  • Purpose: Since infectious disease hospitals are premised on emergency operations, the operational efficiency of secured personnel, equipment, facilities, etc. is relatively low. In order to increase such normal operational efficiency, it is necessary to flexibly operate facilities and operations during normal and emergency times. The purpose of this study is to suggest the architectural planning method focusing on the space composition and circulation of the regional infectious disease hospital which can increase the operational efficiency in the private hospitals. Methods: Through literature review, functional requirements of infectious disease hospitals were identified, and related personnels inter-views and field surveys were conducted to understand the spatial composition and circulation requirements of infectious disease hospitals. Results: Through the complete separation between the negative pressure zone and the general zone, even when the negative pressure zone is completely closed, the general zone should be operated separately to achieve operational efficiency. In addition, the separation of the negative pressure zone and the general zone should simultaneously consider the optimal space configuration and movement for each function while the zone settings match in the floor plan of each department and the overall cross-sectional configuration of the hospital. Implications: Infectious disease hospitals intended to be installed in private hospitals should not apply excessive space just for safety reasons and should plan to ensure their operational efficiency.

  • The food and beverage spaces of modern industrial society have transformed from a simple space for meals into a space of culture, communication and experience as society becomes more complex and diverse along side economic growth. An interior designer who is rapidly rising on this flow of change is Yukio Hashimoto. While working for interior design firm Super Potato, which highlights food and beverage spaces, he was much affected by the expression methods of representative designer Takashi Sugimoto, who makes use of natural elements. By using these expression methods that make use of natural elements in his own creation of spatial ambience and elements of experience and by adding his own differentiated expression methods, he emphasizes an effective spatial expression for food and beverage spaces. The design characteristics of Yukio Hashimoto's food and beverage spaces are as follows. First natural elements like light and water are recreated as memories of nature after being established through a methodology that allows these elements to penetrate his own thoughts. Second, he pursues a hybrid design through the harmony between past tradition and current expressive techniques. Third, he expresses objets of light through a formative sense of shape expressed with light.. Fourth, he establishes an axis in the interior space by light and structure and endows a strong directionality that induces symmetric characteristics, gaze, and movement.. Fifth, he installs lights at the bottom of weighty materials and expresses a sense of floating by light. Sixth, he uses an illusion technique that makes use of the ambiguity and depth of space resulting from reflecting materials like mirrors. The study hopes that such design expression characteristics of food and beverage spaces can be used as data for interior designers to apply and develop a new design vocabulary.

  • Balanced regional development' is rehabilitated as contemporary national agenda by Roh government. The regional equity policies has been justified as insuring more 'even development opportunity'. It is required further examination that the intrinsic relationships between spatial equity and 'the participatory democracy' of the government. The participatory democracy was estimated an important method to achieve 'the alternative development' of the new social movement. But the rapid evolution of transportation and electronic nudes of communication technology strengthened spatial concentration, especially concentration of authoritative resources. These concentrations have a tendency of participation exclusion in the symbolic social practice such as ideological and political decision-making. In order to realize participatory democracy, It is not sufficient to decentralize administration authorities. The reallocation and upbringing policies of symbolic practices such as cultural industries and education facilities is very important.

  • Recently environmental pollution and resource depletion have been rapidly progressing in the world. Construction Industries discharge tones of wastes and consumes heavy resource as compared with the production activities of other industries, so it is the main reason of increasing of the Earth's environment. In Korea, as people become aware of the need of technical and institutional infrastructure for the recycling of construction wastes, they manage Allbraro system which is Total Management System in the wastes. Therefore, they promote the handling of standardized information, processing construction waste of transparency procure and promotion of the efficiency of task about the disposal of occurrence and movement of real-time construction waste. However, objective information for dismantling building did not construct in the organization of the system, so the emission of system randomly produces and discharges information of the waste. Because of that reasons, the exact value of waste abandonment is difficult to measure and recycling after waste disposal has the limit point. Therefore, in this study, advantages and disadvantages of the existing waste management system are analyzed, and we improved solution of construction building and environment of the city when BIM / GIS are utilized.

  • The image information, used most frequently in multimedia, is visual and spatial information. It has several characters including the diversity of storage and output methods, large capacity, spatial relationship expression, and irregularity. Therefore, the various researches for methods of storing efficiently, managing, searching such image data are going on. And recently, it has arisen the movement of international standardization, MPEG-7 for searching contents base in multimedia environment. Especially, the research for implementation of more effective image database searching system important subject, because the practical image search system which can storage a lot of image information as database and query, search them has not generalized. Now the image search system based on text has researched to high degree, but it has many shortages so that nowadays the researches for searching system based on contents are going on. This research has used the wavelet conversion largely using in image processing instead of DCT method largely using in existent system, and so it had met similar and precise results than prior methods by image compression and extraction of specific vector.

  • Finding exclusive closest pairs in road network is very useful to real applications such as, for example, finding a closest pair between a passenger and a nearby taxi in a road network. Few studies, however, have been interested in this problem. To match two close moving objects exclusively, one object must belong to only one result pair. Because moving objects in a road network change their position continuously, it is necessary to monitor closest pair results. In this paper, we propose a methodology to monitor k exclusive closest pairs via a road network. Proposed method only updates the results which are influenced by objects' movement. We evaluated the performance of the proposed method with various real road network data. The results show that our method produces better accuracy than normal batch processing methods.

  • Applicability of Land-based MMS(Mobile Mapping System) having been increased gradually as digitalization of administrative operation and construction of integrated systems of the government and provincial government are growing up. As these requirements, the case can be occurred that the facilities should be surveyed rapidly in the specific area. At this case, the real time field processing method is more necessary than the post processing method and data processing speed should be an essential element as important as accuracy. In this study, the two space intersection methods used in photogrammetry were programmed and compared with each other to select more proper method for the three dimensional positioning in the field processing. Especially, at the analytic space intersection, the traditional close range terrestrial photogrammetry was modified and applied to that to adapt to MMS's characteristics that camera position and attitude are changed according to the vehicle movement. As a result, the difference of the accuracy between two methods is not significant but at the calculation time, the analytic space intersection is faster three times than the space intersection using collinearity condition.

  • Spatio-temporal join operators are essential to the management of spatio-temporal data such as moving objects. For example, the join operators are parts of processing to analyze movement of objects and search similar patterns of moving objects. Various studies on spatio-temporal join queries in outdoor space have been done. Recently with advance of indoor positioning techniques, location based services are required in indoor space as well as outdoor space. Nevertheless there is no one about processing of spatio-temporal join query in indoor space. In this paper, we introduce continuous spatio-temporal self-join queries in indoor space and propose a method of processing of the join queries over stream data of moving objects. The continuous spatio-temporal self-join query is to update the joined result set satisfying spatio-temporal predicates continuously. We assume that positions of moving objects are represented by symbols such as a room or corridor. This paper proposes a data structure, called Candidate Pairs Buffer, to filter and maintain massive stream data efficiently and we also investigate performance of proposed method in experimental study.

  • This study has proposed a method of content-based image retrieval using object region in order to overcome disadvantages of existing color histogram methods. The existing color histogram methods have a weak point of reducing accuracy, because these have both a quantization error and an absence of spatial information. In order to overcome this problem, we convert a color information to a HSV space, quantize hue factor being pure color information, and calculate histogram. And then we use hue for retrieval feature that is robust in brightness, movement, and rotation. To solve the problem of the absence of spatial information, we select object region in terms of color feature and region correlation. And we use both the edge and the DC in the selected region for retrieving. As a result of experiment with 1,000 natural color images, the proposed method shows better precision and recall than the existing methods.

  • Many museums have recently employed digital technologies in exhibition installations to provide visitors with interactive experiences with the installations, not just audiences. However, most of them have focused on the adoption of new prototypes or technologies, not considering user experiences of those systems carefully. This study developed an evaluation tool for usability of the tangible user interfaces and conducted a usability study on museum installations emphasizing user interaction and experience. The evaluation tool is composed of 5 features of tangible user interfaces such as tangible, interaction, convenience, representation, spatial interaction and social interaction, and 24 items. The museum we investigated is the Gwacheon National Science Museum, where 8 installations, classified 4 categories, were selected for the usability study. We recruited 6 undergraduate students, who were divided into 2 teams, each team having 3 students. Three students in a team manipulated and experience each installation together and reported their evaluation score through the questionnaire and interviews. The results showed that the score of the usability for the category 3, which requires students to move their bodies for the interaction, is the highest one because it features with spatial interaction. Students expressed much interest in the category 4, which utilizes users' other senses, however, the score of the usability is the lowest because the interaction is temporary and repetitive. Most installations are well designed in terms of control constraints, legibility, lower thresholds, participation encouragement, and open to the public, but pooly designed in terms of multiple access points, configurability, accurate movement, ambient media, and full-body interaction.
