  • In the presented paper, the first section contains strong convergence and demiclosedness property of a sequence generated by Karakaya et al. iteration scheme in a Hilbert space for quasi-nonexpansive mappings and also the comparison between the iteration scheme given by Karakaya et al. with well-known iteration schemes for the convergence rate. The second section contains some applications of the fixed point theory in solution of different mathematical problems.

  • In this paper, we study some dynamics of the uniform limits of sequences in dynamical systems on a noncompact metric space. We show that if a sequence of homeomorphisms on a noncompact metric space has the uniform ergodic shadowing property, then the uniform limit also has the ergodic shadowing property. Then we apply this result to nonwandering maps.

  • The binary classification, Yin & Yang, can be shown in our culture. Yin & Yang thinking reveals the Up/Down (Principal/Subordinate) relation in space, and Before/After relation in time, and it shows the sequence of Contrast${\to}$Reconciliation & Unification${\to}$Contrast. For example, a follower is Yin against King, while Yang as a father against his son in our trational cognitive structure. With Left/Right, Front/Rear, and Upper/Lower, In/Out division is a basic body-space term to grasp the space position. In the traditional Korean house, when we go out from the deepest 'In', Anbang to Daechung, we may call Anbang 'In' and Daechung 'Out'. When from Daechung to Anmadang reversely, we call Daechung 'In' and Anmadang 'Out'. Namely, Daechung is both 'In' and 'Out'. This is a fallacy logic in view of western basic conception. 'The In/Out Structure, system of a series of inner spaces, is defined as a transformation of cognitive structure of Yin & Yang thinking to the Korean architectural space. The space structure is one of the important deep structure in Korean society.' The concept of the space structure, apperred in east Asia, can make humane space, for it is not a physical 'type' of typepology but related to cognitive structure of human thinking, The structure is applicable to space design in modern society, for the cognitive structure exists in living culture by transformation.

  • The public performance of drama has essence to convert text to visual images as stage and to represent, inform such visual images. Visual image is formed through a space as stage. Stage is a dish to fill the texts and is the mother's womb of visual image. Namely, visual image of drama equals space image. The purpose of this study is a trial to grasp the structure and system represented through interpreting. Especially, the concerns of this study are not semiology of letter imported in image but spacial image text importing just contents of text and the process and contents grasping the structure and meaning of dramatic space. Finally, this study proposed 'the system of space embodiment'from the semiotic point of view as interpretation methodology of actual memorial, symbolic space.

  • In this paper, we will prove the following: Let D be a nonempty of a normed linear space X and T : D -> X be a nonexpansive mapping. Let ${x_n}$ be a sequence in D and ${t_n}$, ${s_n}$ be real sequences such that (i) $0\;{\leq}\;t_n\;{\leq}\;t\;<\;1\;and\;{\sum_{n=1}}^{\infty}\;t_n\;=\;{\infty},\;(ii)\;(a)\;0\;{\leq}\;s_n\;{\leq}\;1,\;s_n\;->\;0\;as\;n\;->\;{\infty}\;and\;{\sum_{n=1}}^{\infty}\;t_ns_n\;<\;{\infty}\;or\;(b)\;s_n\;=\;s\;for\;all\;n\;{\geq}\;1\;and\;s\;{\in}\;[0,1),\;(iii)\;x_{n+1}\;=\;(1-t_n)x_n+t_nT(s_nTx_n+(1-s_n)x_n)\;for\;all\;n\;{\geq}\;1.$ Then, if the sequence {x_n} is bounded, then $lim_{n->\infty}\;$\mid$$\mid$x_n-Tx_n$\mid$$\mid$\;=\;0$. This result improves and complements a result of Deng [2]. Furthermore, we will show that certain conditions on D, X and T guarantee the weak and strong convergence of the Ishikawa iterative sequence to a fixed point of T.

  • In vitro analyses of type I signal peptidase activities require protein precursors as substrates. Usually, these pre-proteins are expressed in vitro and cleavage of the signal sequence is followed by SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis coupled with autoradiography. Radioactive amino acids have to be incorporated in the expressed protein, since the amount of the in vitro expressed protein is usually very low and processing of the signal peptide cannot be followed by SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis alone. Here we describe a rapid and simple method to express large amounts of a protein precursor in E. coli. We have analyzed the effect of ionophors as well as of azide on the accumulation of expressed protein precursors. Azide blocks the function of SecA and the ionophors dissipate the electrochemical gradient across the cytoplasmic membrane of E. coli. Addition of azide ions resulted in the formation of inclusion bodies, highly enriched with pre-apo-plastocyanine. Plastocyanine is a soluble copper protein, which can be found in the periplasmic space of cyanobacteria as well as in the thylakoid lumen of cyanobacteria and chloroplasts, and the pre-protein contains a cleavable signal sequence at its N-terminus. After purification of cyanobacterial pre-apo-plastocyanine, its signal sequence can be cleaved off by the E. coli signal peptidase, and protein processing was followed on Coomassie stained SDS polyacrylamide gels. We are optimistic that the presented method can be further developed and applied.

  • Load variations on a distribution line result in voltage fluctuations at the point of common coupling (PCC). In order to keep the magnitude of the PCC voltage constant at its rated value and obtain zero voltage regulation (ZVR), a D-STATCOM is installed for voltage correction. Moreover, the ZVR mode of a D-STATCOM can also be used to balance the source current during unbalanced loading. For medium voltage and high power applications, a D-STATCOM is realized by the cascaded H-bridge topology. In the ZVR mode, the D-STATCOM may draw unbalanced current and in this process is required to handle different phase powers leading to deviations in the cluster voltages. Zero sequence voltage needs to be injected for ZVR mode, which creates circulating power among the phases of the D-STATCOM. The computed zero sequence voltage and the individual DC capacitor balancing controller help the DC cluster voltage follow the reference voltage. The effectiveness of the control scheme is verified by modeling the system in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The obtained simulations are further validated by the experimental results using a dSPACE DS1106 and five-level D-STATCOM experimental set up.

  • We have carried out a survey of T Tauri stars (TTSs) in a 1,800-square-degrees region toward the Taurus-Auriga star forming region with the AKARI Mid-Infrared All-Sky Survey. By combination of AKARI, 2MASS, and UCAC surveys, we created new criteria to chose TTS candidates. We also considered Asymptotic Giant Branch stars and galaxies, which have similar infrared colors, to separate TTSs from these sources. On the basis of our criteria, we find 27 new TTS candidates. To verify our criteria, we performed follow-up observations for them and confirmed that 23 are TTSs.

  • It is believed that age controls horizontal-branch (HB) morphology of Globular Clusters besides metallicity (first parameter). However, other second parameter candidates, such as He abundance and alpha elements enhancement, could also affect HB morphology. These effects may influence to the age measurements from the main-sequence turnoff (MSTO) as well. We will measure the variations of age caused by each second parameter candidate at HB and MSTO respectively, using the well known second parameter pair M3 and Ml3. (omitted)
