Sodium계 건식흡수제의 CO$_2$ 흡수/재생 및 SO$_2$ 농도의 영향 (CO$_2$ Absorption/Regeneration of Sodium-based Dry Sorbent and the Effect of SO$_2$ Concentration)

  • 지구 온난화에 대한 기여도가 50% 이상인 CO$_2$를 제어하려는 국제적 관심에 따라 CO$_2$ 제어에 대한 새로운 기술개발이 진행되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 PVA함량 및 소성온도에 따라 흡수제를 제조하여 고정층에서 CO$_2$ 흡수/재생 연속 실험 및 SO$_2$ 농도에 관한 실험을 수행하였다. 연구 결과, 비표면적은 832.79 m$^2$/g로 나타났고, SEM 측정결과 미세기공이 발달하여 건식흡수제로서의 가능성을 보였으며, CO$_2$ 흡수/재생 연속 실험에서는 SO$_2$ gas가 존재할 경우 부반응물질인 $Na_2SO_3$$Na_2SO_4$생성으로 CO$_2$ 흡수능 저하를 보였다.

천연 망간 광석 탈황제의 재생 반응 특성 연구 (A Study of Regeneration Reaction for Desulfurization Sorbents using Natural Manganese Ore)

  • 석탄가스화 복합발전(IGCC)의 가스 정제 부분에 사용 가능한 비아연계 탈황제중 경제성이 우수하며 탈황성능이 우수한 천연망간광석을 탈황제의 활성성분으로 선정하였다. 본 연구에서는 이미 탈황반응이 끝난 망간계 탈황제의 재생반응특성을 열중량 분석기와 고정층 반응기로 350~55$0^{\circ}C$의 중저온 영역에서 실험하였다. 망간계 탈황제를 4%의 산소로 재생할 경우 85$0^{\circ}C$이상에서 재생 반응이 sulfation 생성반응보다 우세하게 되며, 90$0^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 완전재생 반응이 이루어진다. 중저온 영역에서는 망간의 열역학적 특성으로 인하여 sulfation 반응이 우세하게 되므로 망간산화물이 아닌 MnSO$_4$생성반응이 주물질인 반응이 일어나게 된다. 이를 개선하기 위하여 재생 가스의 조성에 암모니아와 수분을 첨가하여 황화합물이 생성되는 부반응을 억제함으로써 기존 연구와 차별성을 두었으며 XRD와 반복 황화 재생 반응에 의한 반응성 변화를 살펴봄으로써 이에 대한 검증을 해보았다.

원유로 오염된 갯벌 지역의 자연정화 기능 향상 기술의 개발 (Enhanced Natural Purification of Crude Oil Contaminated Tidal Flat)

  • Tidal flats which are ecologically sensitive, are hard to remediate once they are contaminated by oil spill accidents. Traditional oil remediation measures focus on removal efficiency, and their improper implementation can adversely affect crude oil contaminated coastal areas and greatly disrupt the structure and functions of crude oil contaminated tidal flats. In this study, the oil degradation due to the implementation of remediation measures naturally enhanced using air and natural oil sorbents was evaluated in the lower strata of tidal flats. The effects of air and natural oil sorbents on oil degradation for two concentration levels (< 500 ppm and > 500 ppm) were tested at artificially contaminated tidal flats. Fifty days after these treatments, the natural oil sorbent treatment showed the lowest total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) concentration ($4.46{\pm}1.47%$) at the low concentration level, whereas both air and natural oil sorbent treatments showed high degradation efficiencies at the high concentration level ($29.30{\pm}4.39%$). Although the phosphatase activity decreased for all treatments, there was no significant difference between the decreases for the different treatments; on the other hand, B-glucosidase activities were high for both air and natural oil sorbent treatments. Although degradation efficiencies decreased as the concentration increased, the air provision and natural oil sorbent treatment could be an effective ecological restoration measure for oil contaminated tidal flats while minimizing the environmental impact of the remediation efforts.

Bacillus sp. SK3l의 생물흡착제 흡착특성 및 생산 (Adsorption Properties and Production of Biosorbent from Bacillus sp. SK31)

  • 흡착제 생산균주를 선별하기 위하여 토양시료에서 분리한 홉착제 생산균주중 가장 뛰어난 흡착물질을 생산하는 균주, SK3l을 선별하였으며 분리균주 SK3l은 Bacilus속으로 동정되었다. Bacillus sp. SK3l에 의하여 생산된 흡착물질(생물흡착제 SK3l)은 ethanol 침전과 cetylpyridinium(CPC)침전을 통하여 정제하여 아연과 납 이온에 대한 흡착특성을 조사하였다. 생물흡착제 SK3l의 아연과 납 이온의 흡착량은 각각 52 mg/g과 112 mg/g이었다. Bacillus sp. SK3l 균주가 흡착제를 생산하기위한 flask수준에서의 배양조건들이 조사되었다. 흡착제 생산을 위한 최적 pH와 최적온도는 각각 7.5와 $30^{\circ}C$로 나타났다. 흡착제 생산시 주요한 탄소원과 질소원은 glucose와 ammonium nitrate이었다. 최적화된 배지에서의 흡착제 생산은 기초배지에서 보다 약 3배 증가하였다. Jar fermentor배양에서 배양 60시간에서 가장 많은 흡착제를 생산하였으며, 흡착제의 생산량은 9.2 g/$\ell$이었다.

대형배출원에서의 수은 측정방법 비교 및 배출계수 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Comparison of Measuring Methods and Development of Emssion Factor on Mercury from Large-Scale Emission Sources)

  • Recently, studies on reducing mercury have been actively conducted worldwide, which include the current status of mercury emissions and mercury control technology. Among the control technology, Sorbent Trap measurement method has been aggressively developed due to its reliability, easiness in measurement and analysis. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the applicability of the new international measurement method; Sorbent Trap. For this, the study compared the Sorbent trap method (US EPA Method 30B) and the Korean Standard Method for Examination of Air (ES 01408.1) to evaluate their reliability, and developed mercury emission factors. As the result, the relative standard deviations (% RSD) of the two methods were 3.5~13.4% at Coal-fired Power Plants (CPP), 4.0~18.4% at Cement Kilns (CK), and 3.0~11.3% at Medical Waste Incinerators (MWI). The emissions factors were developed as 14.50 kg/ton at CPP, 45.10 kg/ton at CK, and 1,290.2 kg/ton at MWI.

Alanine and serine functionalized magnetic nano-based particles for sorption of Nd(III) and Yb(III)

  • Magnetic nano-based sorbents have been synthesized for the recovery of two rare earth elements (REE: Nd(III) and Yb(III)). The magnetic nano-based particles are synthesized by a one-pot hydrothermal procedure involving co-precipitation under thermal conditions of Fe(III) and Fe(II) salts in the presence of chitosan. The composite magnetic/chitosan material is crosslinked with epichlorohydrin and modified by grafting alanine and serine amine-acids. These materials are tested for the binding of Nd(III) (light REE) and Yb(III) (heavy REE) through the study of pH effect, sorption isotherms, uptake kinetics, metal desorption and sorbent recycling. Sorption isotherms are well fitted by the Langmuir equation: the maximum sorption capacities range between 9 and 18 mg REE $g^{-1}$ (at pH 5). The sorption mechanism is endothermic (positive value of ${\Delta}H^{\circ}$) and contributes to increase the randomness of the system (positive value of ${\Delta}S^{\circ}$). The fast uptake kinetics can be described by the pseudo-second order rate equation: the equilibrium is reached within 4 hours of contact. The sub-micron size of sorbent particles strongly reduces the contribution of resistance to intraparticle diffusion in the control of uptake kinetics. Metal desorption using acidified thiourea solutions allows maintaining sorption efficiency for at least four successive cycles with limited loss in sorption capacity.

Studies on the development of enzyme linked immuno-sorbent assay (ELISA) for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) by monoclonal antibodies of different affinity constants

  • Mouse monocolonal antibodies to Hepatitis B surface antien (HBsAg) were prepared and their functional capabilities tested by the method of solid phase enzyme linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA). HBsAg binding studies inicated that one monoclonal antibody 6E-1-1 bound more HBsAg at a faster rate than the other monoclonal antibodies. Also, for the binding inhibition studies with the selected monoclonal antibody 6E-1-1, one monoclonal antibody 8D-3-6 didn't exhibit binding inhibition for HBsAg. Then, a simultaneous ELISA method was developed for the immunodiagnosis of HBsAg. Different combinations of two monoclonal antibodies as solid phase and horseradish peroxidase (HRPO) labeled phase were studied. The combination of monoclonal antibody of higher affinity constant (6E-1-1) immobilized in a solid phase and monoclonal antibody of lower affinity constant (8D-3-6) as a HRPO laeled phase was more sensitive when two monoclonal antibodies of different affinity constants for HBsAg were prepared.

KOH activated pine tree needle leaves biochar as effective sorbent for VOCs in water

  • The removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from water using KOH-activated pine tree needle leaves biochar is considered a cost effective and efficient process. In this study, pine tree needle leaves were mixed with 0, 50, 100 and 200% (KOH weight/feedstock weight) of KOH, respectively. Then, the mixture was pyrolyzed at $500^{\circ}C$ for 6 hrs. The adsorption characteristics of 10 VOCs to the biochar were tested. The results indicated that the removal efficiency of the KOH activated biochar was highest in 100% KOH-biochar. The VOC removal efficiencies of 50% and 200% KOH activated biochar were similar and the 0% KOH activated biochar showed the lowest VOC removal. The FTIR results showed that increasing the amount of KOH seemed to enhance the formation of various functional groups, such as -OH, -C=C, -O. The adsorption strength of 10 VOCs to the KOH activated biochar seemed to be increasing by the increase of the solubility of VOCs. This may suggest that the adsorption is taking place in hydrophilic sites of the biochar surface. The KOH activated pine tree needle leaves biochar can be an effective sorbent for VOCs removal in water and 100% KOH mixing seemed to provide better sorption capacity.

  • Flue gas control systems for small-scale combustors must be designed to provide highly effective removal of three criteria pollutants (S $O_{2}$, N $O_{x}$ and particulate matter), and must be safe, reliable and small. These requirements make dry, regenerative clean-up process particularly attractive and this paper describes a new concept for integrated pollutant control : a filter comprised of layered, gas permeable membranes that act as an S $O_{2}$ sorbant, a N $O_{x}$ reduction catalyst and a particulate filter. A mixed metal oxide sorbent, Cu-Ce was used as a sorbent/catalyst and the activity was compared with Cu-7Al. The S $O_{2}$ removal eficiency of Cu-Ce was increased with temperature increase up to 500$^{\circ}$C and the catalytic activity for NO was higher than that of Cu-7Al. By the sulfation of Cu-Ce, the reduction activity was increased at the temperature higher than 350$^{\circ}$C. The regeneration of Cu-Ce was very fast and some amount of elemental sulfar was found.

특허정보를 활용한 CCS(CO2 Capture and Storage) 기술동향 분석 (Technology Trend Analysis of CO2 Capture and Storage by Patent Information)

  • As recognized by all scientific and industrial groups, carbon dioxide($CO_2$) capture and storage(CCS) could play an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Especially carbon capture technology by dry sorbent is considered as a most energy-efficient method among the existing CCS technologies. Patent analysis has been considered to be a necessary step for identifying technological trend and planning technology strategies. This paper is aimed at identifying evolving technology trend and key indicators of dry sorbent from the objective information of patents. And technology map of key patents is also presented. In this study the patents applied in korea, japan, china, canada, US, EU from 1993 to 2013 are analyzed. The result of patent analysis could be used for R&D and policy making of domestic CCS industry.
