  • The fundamental basis of AI technology is learningable data. Recently, the types and amounts of data collected and produced by the government or private companies are increasing exponentially, however, verified data that can be used for actual machine learning has not yet led to it. This study discusses the conditions that data actually can be used for machine learning should meet, and identifies factors that degrade data quality through case studies. To this end, two representative cases of developing a prediction model using public big data was selected, and data for actual problem solving was collected from the public data portal. Through this, there is a difference from the results of applying valid data screening criteria and post-processing. The ultimate purpose of this study is to argue the importance of data quality management that must be most fundamentally preceded before the development of machine learning technology, which is the core of artificial intelligence, and accumulating valid data.

  • The major objective of this paper is to empirically examine the effect of process maturity on the performance of industrial R&D projects. Process maturity, a fundamental concept of the Capability Maturity Model developed by Software Engineering Institute, represents the essential of Total Quality Management (TQM). Based on literature, our research model constructs process maturity in terms of structured process, goal setting and controlling, metrics, and process learning; and links it to the R&D performance that consists of technical, commercial and managerial successes. The model also includes firm size as a moderator of different effects that process maturity may have across firms. Measures for process maturity are based on the best practices identified in literature. Data are obtained from 77 successful R&D projects carried out by Korean manufacturing firms. Multiple regression and t-test are used to test proposed hypotheses. Findings are as follows. (1) In the R&D process, process maturity partially contributes to the performance of R&D projects. More specifically, goal setting and controlling-related practices drive both technical and commercial successes, while process learning-related practices drive commercial success. In contrast, traditionally emphasized elements such as structured process or metrics are found not to be significant. (2) The degree of process maturity is significantly higher in large firms. (3) Process maturity impacts on commercial success in the case of large firms, whereas it does on technical success in the case of small firms. The results imply that the TQM principles are partially associated with R&D performance, and the nature of benefit from high maturity could vary according to firm size.

  • Due to the convergence of voice, data, and video, today's telecom operators are facing the complexity of service and network management to offer differentiated value-added services that meet customer expectations. Without the operations support of well-developed Business Support System/Operations Support System (BSS/OSS), it is difficult to timely and effectively provide competitive services upon customer request. In this paper, a suite of NGOSS-based Telecom OSS (TOSS) is developed for the support of fulfillment and assurance operations of telecom services and IT services. Four OSS groups, TOSS-P (intelligent service provisioning), TOSS-N (integrated large-scale network management), TOSS-T (trouble handling and resolution), and TOSS-Q (end-to-end service quality management), are organized and integrated following the standard telecom operation processes (i.e., eTOM). We use IPTV and IP-VPN operation scenarios to show how these OSS groups co-work to support daily business operations with the benefits of cost reduction and revenue acceleration.

  • The fourth industrial revolution based on information and communication technology (ICT) becomes the center of society, and the overall industrial structure is also changing significantly. ICT refers to the hardware of information devices and the software technologies required for the operation and information management of these devices, and any means of collecting, producing, processing, preserving, communicating and utilizing them. ICT is integrated into industries and services or combined with new technologies in various fields such as robotics and nanotechnology to connect all products and services to the network. The development of ICT, which continuously creates new products and services, has spread to all sectors of the industry, affecting not only daily life but also the livestock sector recently. In agriculture, ICT technology can reduce production costs by efficiently managing labor and energy because it can improve quality and yield based on data on environmental and growth information such as temperature, humidity, light and soil. In particular, smart livestock is considered suitable for achieving livestock management goals because it can reduce labor force and improve productivity by remotely and automatically managing accurate information necessary for raising and breeding livestock with ICT devices. The purpose of this study is to propose the need for ICT technology by comparing farm productivity before and after ICT is introduced. The method of the study is to compare the productivity before and after the introduction of ICT in Korean beef farms, pig farms, and poultry farms. The effectiveness of the study proved the excellence of ICT technology through the production results before ICT introduction and the productivity improvement case of livestock farms that efficiently operated manpower management and reduced labor force after ICT introduction. The conclusion of this paper is to present the need for smart livestock through ICT adoption through case study results.

  • Mining of ore minerals (sfalerite, cinnabar, and chalcopyrite) from the old mine has led in significant environmental effects as contamination of soils and plants and acidification of water. Also, nanoparticles (NP) have obtained global importance because of their widespread usage in daily life, unique properties, and rapid development in the field of nanotechnology. Regarding their usage in various fields, it is suggested that soil is the final environmental sink for NPs. Nanoparticles with excessive reactivity and deliverability may be carried out as amendments to enhance soil quality, mitigate soil contaminations, make certain secure land-software of the traditional change substances and enhance soil erosion control. Meanwhile, there's no record on the usage of Nano superior substances for mine soil reclamation. In this study, five soil specimens have been tested at 4 sites inside the region of mine (<100 m) to study zeolites, and iron sulfide nanoparticles. Also, through using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Extreme Learning Machine (ELM), this study has tried to appropriately estimate the mechanical properties of soil under the effect of these Nano particles. Considering the RMSE and R2 values, Zeolite Nano materials could enhance the mine soil fine through increasing the clay-silt fractions, increasing the water holding capacity, removing toxins and improving nutrient levels. Also, adding iron sulfide minerals to the soils would possibly exacerbate the soil acidity problems at a mining site.

  • Consumer trust plays a crucial role in the development of the sharing economy. This study primarily focuses on the factors influencing consumer trust and examines the case of ofo, a former leader in China's bike-sharing industry. This paper analyzes the decline in consumer trust in ofo, which can be attributed to internal management issues and the near-bankruptcy situation. The "difficulty in refunds" issue faced by ofo since December 2018 has been growing continuously, and this study explores the factors influencing trust and distrust in this context. By considering product factors (quality), platform factors (payment security, privacy protection, reputation), and social factors (social norms, government regulation) as independent variables, the study analyzes the factors affecting consumer trust. The analysis results revealed that as consumers' distrust towards shared bikes increases, their switching intention also increases. The company's reputation and social norms were found to influence both trust and distrust, while government regulation was found to influence trust. The research findings provide insights relevant to sharing economy platforms and offer guidance for future studies.
