  • With advances in IT Smart-Work is emerging as a new way of conducting business and several companies are considering to introduce the Smart-Work digital convergence technology. In this paper, we examined the effects of the Smart-Work IT resources on the work efficiency and the corporate performances in service industry by applying the Resource-Based View. The results of the structural equation modelling analysis showed that Smart-Work IT infrastructure and individual IT skills had positive influence on individual work efficiency while business application software and IT skills affected team work efficiency. Also, we confirmed that individual and team work efficiency positively affect financial and market performance of business firms. With the findings of the study, we expect that the introduction of Smart-Work would have positive effect, at least in service industry, on work efficiency and corporate performance, which will in turn lead to gaining competitive advantage for those firms adopting Smart-Work.

  • In order to develop smart grid communications infrastructure, a high level of interconnectivity and reliability among its nodes is required. Sensors, advanced metering devices, electrical appliances, and monitoring devices, just to mention a few, will be highly interconnected allowing for the seamless flow of data. Reliability and security in this flow of data between nodes is crucial due to the low latency and cyber-attacks resilience requirements of the Smart Grid. In particular, Artificial Intelligence techniques such as Fuzzy Logic, Bayesian Inference, Neural Networks, and other methods can be employed to enhance the security gaps in conventional IDSs. A distributed FPGA-based network with adaptive and cooperative capabilities can be used to study several security and communication aspects of the smart grid infrastructure both from the attackers and defensive point of view. In this paper, the vital issue of security in the smart grid is discussed, along with a possible approach to achieve this by employing FPGA based Radial Basis Function (RBF) network intrusion.

Followings are the results of the research: (a) Smart learning turns out to be more statistically effective comparing to traditional education. The total effect size of smart learning is .768 and the value of U3 is 61.50%. (b) There is no significant difference between general education and fisheries & marine education in the view of effect size. (c) There is a significant difference in subjects, type of publication, and size of members in experimental group. High school student group has the most effect size of smart learning.

The study has an academic meaning by empirically analyzing the effects of factors identified based on the existing study on the IT resources in Mobile Smart-Work, and practical implications to identify how the significance of the Mobile Smart-Work used as a platform of variety industries in manufacturing, logistics, service, distribution, finance, public institutions, and so on positively affects improvement of corporate efficiency and performance. The results showed that IT Infrastructure and IT skills in the Mobile Smart-work environment were found to bring positive effects on individual work efficiency, and IT skills had positive influence on team work efficiency. Also, we confirmed the individual and team work efficiency positively affect financial and market performance of business firms. Finally, we expect that business firm equipped with IT resources in the Mobile Smart-Work environment with IT convergence Technology. It can improve this work efficiency and the performance, which leads to strengthening the core competency.

  • The Technology Acceptance Model(TAM) proposed by Davis(1989) has been applied as a reliable and robust model in the study of user’s adoption of different technologies. However it is necessary to incorporate additional constructs to the original model in the quest for increased predictive power. This study investigate consumer’s acceptance of smart clothing applied by the extended TAM. Besides perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, clothing involvement is included in the extended TAM. Data were collected from the adults over 20 years old living in Seoul and other metropolitan areas from March 2 to March 12, 2009. 815 copies of data were analyzed to examine a structural model and test research hypotheses using AMOS package. The study showed the extended TAM for smart clothing was validated empirically in predicting the individual’s acceptance of smart clothing and 5 hypotheses among 7 hypotheses were supported. Specifically, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and clothing involvement were the factors affecting attitude toward smart clothing. Attitude toward smart clothing was influenced directly by perceived usefulness and clothing involvement but influenced indirectly by perceived ease of use. Acceptance intention toward smart clothing was influenced strongly by attitude. From a theoretical point of view, the study extended the TAM for smart clothing. Moreover, this study would be beneficial for those who would develop smart clothing by providing information about attitude and acceptance intention of smart clothing consumers.

  • Since the late 1990, "Smart clothing" has been developed in a various way to meet user centered design and human engineering that considered usability, wearability with clothing. Under this circumstance, research and development of smart clothing has been demanded usability and wearability test. But, Study of the usability evaluation for sensor based smart clothing is insufficient. In this study, we suggest criterion of usability evaluation for sensor based smart clothing that evaluate on the point of view such as wearability of clothing, interaction of clothing and devices, interaction of body and devices. we performed qualitative and quantitative test with developed smart clothing to present usability evaluation criterion for sensor based smart clothing. As a result, total 7 categories such as 'usefulness', 'wearability', 'appearance', 'riskness', 'facility of management', 'perceived change', were extracted as the usability and wearability criterion. Additionally, 28 factors of evaluation criterion for sensor based smart clothing were indicated on the result of this research. This study have meaning to indicate usability evaluation criterion for sensor based smart clothing.

  • This study show that the policy direction to invigorate smart education for special education based on the view of parents of students with disability through AHP methodology. The result show that development of smart contents, supporting infrastructure, supporting teaching and learning, arrangement for legal basis and building smart education network are relatively important policy ordered by weights. The analysis of weights of sub-factors indicates that various smart contents development considering inability characteristics, the developments of smart devices considering accessibility and preparing legal basis for financial support are important to invigorate smart education for special students ordered by weights.

  • With the rapid development of both ubiquitous computing and the mobile internet, big data technology is gradually penetrating into various applications, such as smart traffic, smart city, and smart medical. In particular, smart medical, which is one core part of a smart city, is changing the medical structure. Specifically, it is improving treatment planning for various diseases. Since multiple treatment plans generated from smart medical have their own unique treatment costs, pollution effects, side-effects for patients, and so on, determining a sustainable strategy for treatment planning is becoming very critical in smart medical. From the sustainable point of view, this paper first presents a three-dimensional evaluation model for representing the raw medical data and then proposes a sustainable strategy for treatment planning based on the representation model. Finally, a case study on treatment planning for the group of "computer autism" patients is then presented for demonstrating the feasibility and usability of the proposed strategy.

  • We propose a novel method for object recognition using the smart tag system with a stereo vision on a pan-tilt mechanism. We developed a smart tag which included IRED device. The smart tag is attached onto the object. We also developed a stereo vision system which pans and tilts for the object image to be the centered on each whole image view. A Stereo vision system on the pan-tilt mechanism can map the position of IRED to the robot coordinate system by using pan-tilt angles. And then, to map the size and pose of the object for the robot to coordinate the system, we used a simple model-based vision algorithm. To increase the possibility of tag-based object recognition, we implemented our approach by using as easy and simple techniques as possible.
