The purpose of the present study is to investigate frequency related information and syllable structure constraints on Sino-Korean. Previous studies on Sino-Korean have mostly investigated the historical change of sounds and reviewed archaic features of Chinese language in Sino-Korean. Unfortunately, there is little study on the sounds of contemporary Sino-Korean in terms of syllable structure constraints. For the purpose of the present study, sounds of 7,742 Chinese characters used in Sino-Korean (7,795 syllables) were investigated and syllable matrices made based on the results of frequency related information. As a result, 483 syllable types were observed and the most frequently observed syllables were as follows: /ku/ (103) > /ki/ (100) > /ju/ (87) > /pi/ (86). Only 16 out of 19 consonants are used for Sino-Korean. /$t^{\ast}$/ and /$p^{\ast}$/ are never used in Sino-Korean and /kh, $s^{\ast}$, $k^{\ast}$/ occur only a few times (3, 2, 1 respectively). /k/ (17.5%) shows the highest frequency and /n, ${\eta}$, 1, tc, m/ occupied the next rankings. Among 20 vowel types, /a/ showed the highest frequency and /o, u, i, $j{\Lambda}$, ${\Lambda}$/ occupied the next rankings. Based on the syllable matrices, gaps were observed and classified into accidental or systematic ones. Onset and nucleus, nucleus and coda, onset and coda, and other syllable structure constraints of Sino-Korean were listed.
The purpose of this study is to find the influence of Chinese falling-rising tone on the pitch pattern of corresponding Sino-Korean words delivered by Chinese learners of Korean and to examine how the falling-rising tone of corresponding Chinese words affect the pitch patterns of Sino-Korean words. The scope of this research is limited to Chinese learners of Korean, especially when they pronounce same-form-same-meaning Sino-Korean words. In this study, Chinese learners pronounced both Chinese words and corresponding Sino-Korean words. Learners' pitch patterns were recorded and analyzed using software and compared with the tone of corresponding Chinese words. Experimental results showed that Sino-Korean words were affected by Chinese 'falling-rising tone - high and level tone' when they started with lenis sounds. On the other hand, when Sino-Korean words started with aspirated sounds they were affected by Chinese 'falling-rising tone - high and level tone', 'falling-rising tone - falling-rising tone', and 'falling-rising tone - falling tone'. In conclusion, the Chinese learners' pitch patterns of Sino-Korean words are affected by Chinese falling-rising tone, especially when Sino-Korean words start with aspirated sounds.
The purpose of this study is to find the influence of Chinese falling-rising tone on the pitch pattern of corresponding partly-different-form-same-meaning Sino-Korean words delivered by Chinese learners of Korean and to examine how the falling-rising tone of corresponding Chinese words affects the pitch patterns of Sino-Korean words. The scope of this research is limited to Chinese learners of Korean, especially on two groups of Sino-Korean words - AB:CB type and AB:AC type that the are second-most frequently occuring different-form-same-meaning Sino-Korean words. In this study, Chinese learners pronounced both Chinese words and corresponding Sino-Korean words. Learners' pitch patterns were recorded and analyzed using software and compared with the tone of corresponding Chinese words. Experimental results showed that AB:CB type Sino-Korean words were not affected by Chinese 'falling-rising tone - high and level tone'. As well as AB:CB type, experimental results showed there were no significant influence on the pitch pattern of AB:AC type Sino-Korean words by Chinese falling-rising tone. But it was clear that Chinese learners' made pitch errors on both AB:CB type and AB:AC type Sino-Korean words. In conclusion, the Chinese learners' pitch patterns of partly-different-form-same-meaning Sino-Korean words are different from Korean native speakers', but their pitch errors cannot be attributed to Chinese falling-rising tone.
The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of Chinese high and level vs. rising tone on the pitch pattern of corresponding Sino-Korean words delivered by Chinese learners of Korean and to examine the aspects how these two tones of corresponding Chinese words affect the pitch patterns of Sino-Korean words. Scope of this research is limited to the Chinese learners of Korean, especially when they pronounce same-form-same-meaning Sino-Korean words. In this study, Chinese learners pronounced both Chinese words and corresponding Sino-Korean words. By using the software learners' pitch pattern were recorded, analyzed, and compared with the tone of corresponding Chinese words. Experimental results showed that Sino-Korean words were affected by Chinese 'high and level tone - high and level tone', 'high and level tone - rising tone', 'high and level tone - falling-rising tone', 'high and level tone - falling tone' and 'rising tone - falling tone' when they started with lenis sounds. On the other hand when Sino-Korean words started with aspirated sounds they were affected by Chinese 'rising tone - high and level tone', 'rising tone - rising tone', 'rising tone - falling-rising tone', 'rising tone - falling tone'. In conclusion, the Chinese learners' pitch patterns of Sino-Korean words are affected by both Chinese high and level & rising tone, especially when Sino-Korean words started with lenis sounds they were more affected by Chinese high and level tone, on the other hand Chinese rising tone influence Sino-Korean words more when they were started with aspirated sounds.
This paper is to clarify the literary value of sino-korean poems interposed in Changseongamuirok. As the author of Changseongamuirok is thought to be a person with considerable knowledge of sino-korean literature, the sino-korean poems interposed in Changseongamuirok can be the clue to examine his literary ability. Furthermore, evaluation on the sino-korean poems interposed in Changseongamuirok can have the verification of Changseongamuirok's literary value and of the author's ability to create novels and to compose literary pieces be possible, and is thought to help determining who wrote Changseongamuirok. The sino-korean poems interposed in Changseongamuirok is not necessary parts for composition or development of the entire piece but additional parts for explaining and verifying characters and situations. Functions and roles of the interposed sino-korean poems are indeed very limited, but it is thought that the reason the author interposed such sino-korean poems into the piece is that those poems perform functions more than superficial limited ones. When the composition of Changseongamuirok and the literary achievement of its interposed sino-korean poems are examined, it can be thought that the author of Changseongamuirok achieved the level of professional novel writer. From the point of view, it can be said that Changseongamuirok was written in the time closer to the $19^{th}$ century than to the $17^{th}$ century and that the author also had literary and narrative creativity with considerable sino-korean literary ability. Such an author adopted sino-korean poems since he thought those interposed sino-korean poems took important roles for strengthening novelistic value and literary excitement. Further and deeper interests in and researches on sino-korean poems interposed into novels of Joseon dynasty period are expected.
Most of elementary and secondary school mathematical terms in Korean are Sino-Korean words. We check Chinese characters relating to such Sino-Korean words by using Chinese dictionaries, and critically judge how much we can understand Sino-Korean words by Chinese characters. Through this search, we classify Sino-Korean words into three categories; words which can be understood by Chinese characters, words which can not be understood by Chinese characters, words which are misunderstood by Chinese characters.
The speech of Sino-Korean has been evolved from geopolitical cause since 1945. The aim of this study is to collect Yanji dialectal speech and to compare with South Korean dialectal speech. Twenty Yanbian university students participated as informants. Acoustic speech informations are analyzed using the Multi-Speech Windows Vista version. Dialectal speech characteristics of Yanji sino-Korean showed posterior vowel /${\alpha}$/, neutralization of mid-vowel /o/ between /o/ and /Ɔ/. Lenis stop sound showed the tendency of glottalization based on VOT value. Sibilant sound contains aspiration following constriction and lateral /l/ realized the approximant /r/.
Author studied the pathogenesis of Sino-bronchiectasis with review of clincal and pathological findings of resected lungs in 24 eases of bronchiectasis, and the results were as follows: 1. Of the 24 eases of bronchiectasis, Sino-bronchiectasis were found in 11 cases and these cases most commonly, developed in first and second decade of life. In a majority of these cases, the main symptoms were the signs of wet bronchiectasis. 2. The typical roentgenograrn changes of plain chest x rays were increase in size and loss of definition of the markings and bronchographically revealed the cylindrical or tubular form in majority of these cases. 3. Pathologically Sino-bronchiectasis involved specific segmental areas of the lungs such as left basal and S4+5 segments and revealed commonly tubular dilatation. The most common findings of bronchial wall of dilated bronchus were the inflammatory cellular infiltration and cylindrical hyperplasia of mucus epithelial layers. 4. It was suspected that there were some causal relations in pathogenesis between chronic sinusitis and bronchiectasis.
Background: Panax ginseng Meyer is a representative Chinese herbal medicine with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. 20(S)-Protopanaxadiol (PPD) has been isolated from ginseng and shown to have promising pharmacological activities. However, effects of PDD on pulmonary fibrosis (PF) have not been reported. We hypothesize that PDD may reverse inflammation-induced PF and be a novel therapeutic strategy. Methods: Adult male C57BL/6 mice were used to establish a model of PF induced by bleomycin (BLM). The pulmonary index was measured, and histological and immunohistochemical examinations were made. Cell cultures of mouse alveolar epithelial cells were analyzed with Western blotting, coimmunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, siRNA transfection, cellular thermal shift assay and qRT-PCR. Results: The survival rate of PPD-treated mice was higher than that of untreated BLM-challenged mice. Expression of fibrotic hallmarks, including α-SMA, TGF-β1 and collagen I, was reduced by PPD treatment, indicating attenuation of PF. Mice exposed to BLM had higher STING levels in lung tissue, and this was reduced by phosphorylated AMPK after activation by PPD. The role of phosphorylated AMPK in suppressing STING was confirmed in TGF-b1-incubated cells. Both in vivo and in vitro analyses indicated that PPD treatment attenuated BLM-induced PF by modulating the AMPK/STING signaling pathway. Conclusion: PPD ameliorated BLM-induced PF by multi-target regulation. The current study may help develop new therapeutic strategies for preventing PF.
In this study, From 1,560 entry-level of TOPIK standard vocabularies are 702 Sino-Korean words selected which account for 45% of the whole vocabularies in TOPIK. In addition, the same form and morpheme words in Sino-Korean are sorted out by comparing them with 5,000 words of the NEW HSK vocabularies in Sino-Korean morpheme, array position of morpheme, meaning, and usage. Those are categorized into three parts : type of completely the same form-morpheme and same meaning, use, class(189 pairs), type of completely the same form-morpheme and partly same meaning, use, class(28 pairs), and type of completely the same form-morpheme and different meaning, use, class(10 pairs). The first type of words that account for 83.26% of them are used in exactly the same way in both Chinese and Korean. Through an accurate understanding of these vocabularies could either Chinese-speaking Korean learners or Korean-speaking Chinese learners apply those words in their mother tongue to the acquisition of the target language and get more effective means of learning methods for language proficiency test.
