Based on superimposed training methods, a novel time-varying multipath channel estimation scheme is proposed for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems. We first develop a linear least square channel estimator, and meanwhile find the optimal superimposed sequences with respect to the channel estimates' mean square error. Next, a low-rank approximated channel estimator is obtained by using the singular value decomposition. As demonstrated in simulations, the proposed scheme achieves not only better performance but also higher bandwidth efficiency than the conventional pilot-aided approach.

The guaranteed stability margin of LQ optimal regulators with cross-product terms in a performance index is derived for the discrete-time case. In order to obtain the guaranteed stability margin, the singular value of the return difference matrix is examined. A numerical simulation is provided to demonstrate the validity of the derived stability margin.

특정 영역에 대해 사용자에게 관련 정보를 제공하는 서비스를 위해 정보 에이전트를 개발하고 있다. 이 시스템은 웹 상에서 문서를 수집해 오는데 특정 영역과 관련한 지식베이스를 토대로 하고 있는데, 이들 중 몇몇 전문 사이트 내의 정보가 많이 포함되어 있음을 볼 수 있다. 그러므로 전문 사이트 내의 관련 문서 수집은 중요한 의의가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이들 전문 사이트 내의 전문 문서 수집을 위해 문서간의 유사성을 토대로 클러스터링 한다. 즉, 문서내의 텀(term)과 HTML 태그(tag), 지식베이스의 WordNet 계층구조를 data로 하고 SVD(Singular Value Decomposition)을 사용하여 문서간의 관계를 밝혀내었다.

Biplot is a graphical display of the rows and columns an $n{\time}p$ data matrix. In particular, Gabriel(1981) suggested The MANOVA BIPLOT using singular value decomposition (SVD) with the averages of response variables according to treatment groups. But his biplot may cause wrong results by disregarding them when there exists covariate effects. In this paper, we will provide the MANCOVA BIPLOT based on the SVD with the parameter estimates for MANCOVA model when there exist covariate effects.

Combined with the indeterminate boundaries of spatial objects, n:m correspondences makes an object-based matching be a complex problem. In this study, we model the boundary of a polygon object with fuzzy model and describe their overlapping relations as a weighted bipartite graph. Then corresponding pairs including 1:0, 1:1, 1:n and n:m relations are identified using a spectral singular value decomposition.

The nuclear steam generator level control system is designed by robust control methods. The feedwater controller is designed by three methods of the H$\infty$, the mixed weight sensitivity and the structured singular value. Then the controller located on the feedback loop of the level control system is designed. For the system performance, the controller of simple PID whose coefficients vary with the power is selected. The simulations show that the system has a good performance with proper stability margins.

This paper presents a technique for avoid- ing indefiniteness in Maximum Likelihood (ML) criteria for Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) finding using a sensor ar- ray with arbitrary configuration. The ML criterion has singular points in the solution space where the criterion becomes indefinite. Solutions fly iterative techniques for ML bearing estimation may oscillate because of numerical instability which occurs due to the indefiniteness, when bearings more than one approach to the identical value. The oscillation makes the condition for terminating iterations complex. This paper proposes a technique for avoiding the indefiniteness in ML criteria.

A class invariant is the value of a modular function that generates a ring class field of an imaginary quadratic number field such as the singular moduli of level 1. In this paper, we compute the Galois actions of a class invariant from a generalized Weber function $g_1$ over imaginary quadratic number fields with discriminant $D{\equiv}64(mod72)$.

This paper presents an algorithm that the mobile robot track accurately a moving object with information from a CCD camera mounted on mobile robot. Singular Value Decomposition is adapted to remove the measurement noise of a Raw data of CCD. The mobile robot estimate the trajectory using Kalman filter and track the path of a moving object with a servo motor. Computer simulation results are showed that the efficient tracking system for the mobile robot is designed properly.
