Adaptive control of flexible joint manipulators based on the singular perturbation theory (특이 섭동 이론에 의한 유연성 관절 매니퓰레이터의 적응제어)

  • The adaptive control of flexible joint manipulator is the focus of this paper. The full order flexible joint manipulator dynamic system does not allow the determination of a feedback linearization control as for rigid manipulators. This drawback is overcome by a model order reduction based on a singular perturbation strategy. The full order flexible joint manipulator dynamic model is adopted for derivation of the adaptive control law to damp out the elastic oscillations at the joints. It is shown that the joint position error will converge to zero asymptotically and that other signals remain bounded without precise knowledge of parameters of the manipulator and its joint flexibility.

  • The LQG/LTR controller design procedure for ground alignment of inertial platform is accomplished. Due to the alignment system dynamics, LQG/LTR controller is proposed to overcome both singular problem and nonsquare problem. To show the effectiveness of this control system, computer simulation was performed under the assumption of random sway motion.

  • Structured singular value (SSV)는 robust stability와 robust performance를 매우 엄밀하게 다루기 위해 고안되었다 (Doyle, 1982; Safonov, 1982). 이 엄밀성으로 제어시스템의 설계 및 분석에 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 강건제어의 단초를 이루었으며 loop failure tolerance, decentralized integral controllability (Campo and Morari. 1994), D-stability (Lee and Edgar, 2001) 등에 SSY가 사용되고 있다. SSV의 중요성이 알려짐에 따라 이것에 관한 많은 연구가 있었다(Fan et at., 1991 ; Pacltard and Pander, 1993), 그러나 이 값의 계산은 매우 어려운 NP-hard인 것으로 판명되었으며 (Braatz et al.. 1994). 실수 불확실 변수에 대한 SSV의 경우 원하는 오차범위 내로 근사 값을 구하는 것도 마찬가지 인 것으로 밝혀졌다(Fu, 1997).(중략)

  • The optimal control and filtering problems for the systems with the generalized state space model are considered and the generalized Riccati equation is derived. Also the algorithm for the solution of the generalized algebraic Riccati equation is developed and it is shown that the algotithm can be applied to the case where the matrix R is singular or near singular.

  • Wood, laminates, reinforced concrete, and some special types of metals systems with controlled grain orientation are often orthotropic and at least rectilinearly anisotropic from point to point, if regarded as homogeneous media. Orthotropic bodies where a crack is not associated with a plane of elastic symmetry may be conveniently treated as a crack problem in a generally anisotropic body. At this work, approach for the determination of the stress intensity factors (SIF) of anisotropic body using crack tip singular elements is presented. Caculated values are in good agreement with the others.

  • The coexistence and extinction of species are important concepts for biological systems and can be distinguished by an investigation of stability. When determining local stability of nonlinear systems, Lyapunov indirect method based on the Jacobian linearization has been widely employed due to its simplicity. Despite such popularity, it is not applicable to singular systems whose Jacobian has at least one eigenvalue that is equal to zero. In such singular cases, an appropriate Lyapunov function should be sought to determine the stability of systems, which is rather difficult and quite involved. In this paper, we seek for a simple criterion to determine stability of the equilibrium that is located at the boundary of the positive orthant, when one of eigenvalues of the Jacobian is zero. The goal of the paper is to present a generalized condition for the equilibrium to attract all trajectories that starting from initial condition in the positive orthant and near the equilibrium. Unlike the Lyapunov direct method, the proposed method requires just a simple algebraic computation for checking the stability of the critical point. Our approach is applied to various biological systems to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we propose the image watermarking method for good compression ratio and satisfactory image quality of the cover image and the embedding image. This method is based on the singular value decomposition and the vector quantization using fuzzy c-mean clustering. Experimental results show that the embedding image has invisibility and robustness to various serious attacks. The advantage of this watermarking method is that we can achieve both the compression and the watermarking method for the copyright protection simultaneously.

  • This study explores hedge fund characteristics that affect hedge fund performance, namely, fund size, fund age, and performance fee. Previous studies have examined relationships between hedge fund characteristics and fund performance using singular and static thinking to report inconsistent findings without providing full understanding of the causal relationships among variables. To identify that comprehensive causal relationships between hedge fund characteristics and hedge fund performance, this research applies the system dynamics perspective, which allowed demonstration of the interactions within the overall system beyond the singular causal relationships between hedge fund characteristics and performance found in existing traditional research. This study contributes to existing literature in the following ways. First, it overcomes the limitations of singular research methodologies by looking at the integrated system of hedge fund characteristics and fund performance from a bird's eye view based on their dynamic feedback relationships. Second, policy suggestions in terms of regulation and education are presented as growth strategies for the sustainable development of the Korean hedge fund market.

  • In this note, we propose the discrete model reduction method over disc-type analytic domains. We define Hankel singular value over the disc that is mapped by standard bilinear mapping. And GSPA(generalized singular perturbation approximation) and DT(direct truncation) are generalized to GSPA and DT over a disc. Furthermore we show that the reduced order model over a smaller domain has a smaller L$_{\infty}$ norm error bound..
