여성 한부모 및 양부모 가정의 모-자녀 의사소통과 청소년 자녀의 심리적 소외감 (The Relationship between Mother-Adolescent Communication and Adolescents' Alienation in Single Mother-Headed Family and Two-Parent family)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship mother-adolescent communication and adolescents' alienation in both single mother-headed family and two-parent family. The subjects were 548 middle and high school students who were 82 single mother-headed family's adolescents and 466 two-parent family's adolescents in Keoungbok. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, t-test, standard multiple- and hierarchical multiple regression(using SPSS 12.1). Major findings were as follows: (1) The single mother-headed family's adolescents were perceived less positive mother-adolescent communication and higher alienation than two-parent family's adolescents. (2) The adolescents' alienation was associated with mother-adolescent communication in both single mother-headed and two-parent family. The less positive parent-adolescent communication, the higher adolescents' alienation. (3) The family structure(single mother-headed or two-parent) was a significant predictor of adolescents' alienation. But when the effect of mother-adolescent communication was controlled, the effect of the family structure became non-significant.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the children's adjustment according to the their problems and problem solving pattern in single mother. The data of this study were abtained from 186 children of single-mother. For analysis of data, Factor analysis, t-test, One-way ANOVA, pearson's correlation, Multiple regression were used The results are as follows; 1. The children's problem are composed seven factors that are house life, emotion, school life, peer-relationships, academic achievement, finicial, future life. The family structural variables to have relationship with the children's problem are age, sex, father's absence reason, SES, mother postering attitude. 2. The mean value of children's problem solving pattern such as seeking religion support and passive appraisal was highest. The children's problem solving pattern were affected by mother's fostering attitude. 3. The inadequacy among children in single-mother was related to mother fostering attitude after father's loss, children's problem and children's problem solving pattern that emphasizes the interdependence of each element in this children's adjustment network.

한부모가족의 가계지출에 영향을 미치는 요인: 모자가족과 부자가족의 지출 비교 (Determinants of household expenditure in single-parent families: A comparison between single-mother families and single-father families)

  • This study examines household expenditure patterns for single-parent families to better understand the decision-making process and to consider the appropriateness of the decisions on monetary allocation. This study investigates the household expenditure patterns and the determinants of expenditure patterns for single-father families as compared to those for single-mother families. A series of analyses of the data, which was gathered from the 2015 Single-parent Family Survey on household expenditures, were conducted. The results show that there are differences in the household expenditure volumes and patterns between single-father families and single-mother families. Differences in the categories of expenditure and variations in the share that was allocated for each expenditure category in single-father families as compared to in single-mother families were both statistically significant. Disparities were found in seven categories of household expenditure between single-father families and single-mother families. The amount allocated from total expenditures for each expenditure category was also significantly different between single-father families and single-mother families in regards to clothing, home equipment, housing, water/light/heat costs, transportation, and telecommunication. The determinants of the total household expenditure for single-parent families were age, level of education, number of family members, public transfer, household income, assets, and debt.

여성 한부모의 사회적응력 향상을 위한 교육프로그램 개발 및 효과 (The Development and Effectiveness of an Educational Program for Improving Single Mother's Adaptation)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an educational program that enhances a single mother's social adaptation (self-esteem and sociality) based on the precedent studies. The subjects of this program were seven single motherswholive in C city in Chung Cheong Namdo. Paired-Sample t-test, individual change and group processing description data, and behavior observation record data were analyzed. Research results are as follows based on the research questions. First, a group of 8 single mothers who participated in the program showed an improvement of their social adaptation. Therefore, the effectiveness of the educational program was verified. Second, as the group session went on, the cohesion among the group members was solidified and their will to participate in the program was increased. Third, generally, individuals' understanding, acceptance, and adaptation toward themselves and others were enhanced. On the whole, the educational program for improving single mother's social adaptation was verified. We need to develop and implement more programs that enhance single mother's social adaptation in the future.

모자보호시설 아동을 위한 교육 프로그램 개발 및 평가 (Development and Evaluation of Family Life Education Program for Children of Institutionalized Single-Mother families)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate a family life education program for children of institutionalized single-mother famines. Based on the strong family perspective and empirical research in this field, the program was developed to enhance children's self-esteem and social ability, and to help children accept diverse family patterns. The program consists of four 60-minute sessions. Ten children and their mothers in two institutions for single-mother families participated in this program. The results of program evaluation revealed that this program was helpful for promoting children's personality development and strengthening their family life of institutionalized single-mother famines. Conclusions and implications are discussed.

미국 편모가계의 자녀보육비 지출에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors that Influence on Child Care Expenses of Single Mother Families in the U. S.)

  • Using the 1999 National Survey of America's Families(NSAF), this study investigated the factors that affect child care expenses and examined financial and social support of single mother families in the U. S. In this study, 4,676 single mother families with children aged twelve and under are included for the analytical sample. About half of all single mother families with children under age 12 had some amount of child care expenses in 1999. Monthly child care expenses for those who had child care expenses was an average of $255 and it accounted for about 15 percent of their family earnings. The profile of financial and social support showed that about one-quarter of single mothers received financial support for child care, one-fifth received free child care by relatives and about 40 percent received child support payments from nonresident fathers. Tobit analysis results showed that the significant factors that affected child care expenses were mother's age, marital status, educational level, employment status, the numbers of children aged 0-5, family income, the receipt of public assistance and financial support for child care.

  • 본 연구는 여성 한부모의 경제적 스트레스가 자녀의 사회적 유능감에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 그 과정에서 모-자녀 관계 만족도가 어떠한 역할을 하는지를 파악하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 즉, 여성 한부모의 경제적 스트레스가 자녀의 사회적 유능감에 직접적인 영향을 미치는지, 모-자녀 관계 만족도를 매개로 간접적인 영향을 주는지에 대해 검증하였다. 구조방정식 모형을 통해 경로를 분석한 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 여성 한부모의 경제적 스트레스는 모-자녀 관계 만족도에 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 여성 한부모의 경제적 스트레스는 모-자녀 관계 만족도를 매개로 해서 자녀의 사회적 유능감에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 여성 한부모의 경제적 스트레스는 직접적으로는 자녀의 사회적 유능감에 미치지 않고 모-자녀 관계 만족도를 통해서 간접적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 여성 한부의 경제적 스트레스가 자녀의 사회적 유능감에 미치는 영향에 있어서 모-자녀 관계 만족도가 완전 매개역할을 하는 것으로 입증되었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 여성 한부모 자녀의 사회적 유능감을 증진시키기 위한 실천적 함의들이 논의 되었다.

청소년기 자녀를 둔 한부모가족의 모자녀갈등, 대처와 심리적 안녕 (Single Mother Family's Mother-Adolescent Conflicts, Copings and Psychological Well-being)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the general trends and the correlations of parent-child conflicts, copings, and psychological well-being of single mothers and their children, and to analyze the variables explaining relationships between single mothers and their children. The subjects were 196 dyads of single mothers and their children who reside in Gwangju city and Jeonnam area. The data were analyzed with frequency, t-Test, Pearsons' r, and multiple regression by SPSS. The major findings are as follows: 1. Scores of single mothers and their children had conflicts and emotion-focused copings lower than median. Another scores of single mothers and their children had significantly higher problem solving focused copings and emotion-focused copings than their children except life satisfaction; 2. Conflicts, copings, life satisfaction, and depression of a single mother were positively related to those of children; 3. Life satisfaction of single mothers depends on the reason for spouse-loss, their own education background, and problem solving-focused copings. Also, that of children depends on problem solving-focused copings, mother-child conflicts, and the mothers' education. Depression of single mothers is dependent upon mother-child conflicts, emotion-focused copings, and mothers' education. Also, that of children is upon mother-child conflicts, emotion-focused copings, mothers' education, and problem solving-focused copings.

주말부부와 일반부부의 자녀양육 비교 연구 -유아기와 학령초기 자녀를 둔 부부를 중심으로- (A Comparison of Dual Residence Couple's and Single Residence Couple's Child-rearing.)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there is any difference between the dual residence couples and the single residence couples in terms of the situation of child care, development of their child and mother's parenting guilty or parenting stress. Also, this study aimed to explore the variables which influence parenting guilty and parenting stress of dual residence mothers. The 178 mothers of three to eight tear-old participated the survey. Half of them were dual residence mothers and another half were those of single residence. These two groups were matched in terms of the occupation of the mother and the age of the child. Major finding were as follows. 1) Compared with single residence couples, dual residence couples used multiple methods of child care. And they depended maternal families more than paternal ones as a care-giver. They also payed much more for the child care than single residence couples. 2) Children of the dual residence couples did not differ with those of the single residence couples in terms of cognitive and social development. 3) Dual residence mothers had more parenting guilty than those of single residence while these two groups did not differ in terms of parenting stress. 4) While dual residence mother's parenting guilty was significantly related with the amount of information provided by the paternal families, their parenting stress was significantly related with the frequencies of communicating with the husband, the mother's age, the flexibility of time in the mother's work place, the mother's orientation to the career, and the supports of the husband. In conclusion, dual residence families in Korea were not so negative as expected. Furthermore, this study suggests that the parenting difficulties of the dual residence mothers could be decreased by the change of social and economic situations and the psycho-social support of the husband.

  • The purposes of this study were to find the general trends of single mothers' and adoescents' family resources stress perceptions coping and psychological well-being to examine the differences and correlations among single mothers' and their adolescents' variables and to analyze the effects of socio-demographic variables and family stress influencing psychological well-being. The subjects were the 568 single mothers and their adolescents living in Kwangju. The major findings were as follows; 1. Scores of single mothers' and their adolescents' family resources stress perceptions were lower than median but their stressors problem solving-focused coping life satisfaction and depression were higher than median. Single mothers' stressors coping stress perceptions were significantly higher than their adolescents' 2. Single mothers' family rsources stressors stress perceptions coping life satisfaction and depression were positively related to adolescents' 3. Single mother family's l fe satisfaction were influenced by stress perceptions problem solving-focused coping family strengths. Single mother family's depression were influenced by stress perceptions emotion-focused coping.
