  • 상악(maxilla)과 하악(mandibular)의 최대 교합상태에서 하악을 기계적으로 자극(jaw jerk)할 경우 교근(masseter muscle)의 근전도 (electromyography)에서는 근신호가 일시적으로 침묵하는 형태의 휴지기(silent period) 현상이 발생한다. 턱관절 질환(temporo-mandibular joint dysfuntion)이 없는 정상인의 경우 24ms 정도의 휴지기가 나타나지만, 턱관절 질환 환자의 경우 평균 60ms 정도임을 볼 때 휴지기는 턱관절 질환을 진단하는 중요한 요소라 할 수있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 휴지기 기간을 자동적으로 결정하기 위해 mCFAR 알고리즘을 제안하고 CLMS 적응 필터를 사용하여 근전도 신호의 왜곡을 가져오는 전원 잡음의 영향을 효과적으로 제거하였다. 실험 결과 전원 잡음에 대해 강건하며, 정확한 휴지기 기간을 결정할 수 있다.

Effect of Gas Composition on Ozone Generation in Silent Discharge Process

  • The effect of gas composition on the discharge characteristics and the ozone production in silent discharge (SD) process was investigated. The major gas components, $N_2$, $O_2$, and $H_2O$ influence the discharge properties according to their relative magnitude of ionization thresholds and electron affinities. The generated amount of ozone increased with the discharge energy by increasing the electron mean energy. The higher oxygen content injected, the higher ozone produced. A small amount of water vapor significantly lowered the discharge onset voltage by the ionization threshold decreasing effect and high electrical conductivity. However, the further increase of water vapor contributes to decrease the electron density by the electron affinity The addition of water greatly reduced the ozone generation through the formation of OH radical and the catalytic ozone destruction process.

  • In this paper, a control method using Sinusoidal Filter Controller of Silent Discharging Ozonizer is proposed and also the control methode performed robust control against variation of capacitance, command voltage and frequency. As the control system for this methode, Sinusoidal Filter Algorism can be simplified configuration of the power supply by using a low-pass filter. Through simulations and experiment results, the proposed control methode compensates for the high voltage waveform to the ozonizer.

  • This paper proposes a model of SP(silent period) generation in masseter muscle by means of computer simulation. The model is based on the anatomical and physiological properties of trigeminal nervous system. In determining the SP generation pathway, evoked SPs of masseter muscle after mechanical stimulation to the chin are divided into normal and abnormal group. Normal SP is produced by the activation of mechanoreceptors in periodontal ligament. The activation of nociceptors contributes to the latter part of normal SP, abnormal extended SP is produced. As a result, the EMG signal generated by a proposed SP generation model is similar to both real EMG signal including normal SP and abnormal extended SP with TMJ patients. The result of this study have shown differences of SP generation mechanism between subjects both with and without TMJ dysfunction.

  • Recently deep interests have been paid on the effective generation of ozone, which has been widely used for water treatment, deoderization, color removal and chemical processing of exhausted smoke. The silent discharge reaction has been proposed as the most effective in the many ozone generation methods by electric discharge, because silent discharge excel others in the condition of high ozone generation yield and low power consumption. In this paper, ozone water generated system measure with silent discharge characteristics and pulsed power supply.

  • Recently, automotive engines have changed to the silent chain system in order to reduce noise and to improve reliability. High contact fatigue strength is needed for the sprockets of silent chain system. As a result, a high-contact-fatigue-strength P/M material was developed using the technology of surface rolling, which densifies the surface layer of sintered parts. It was established that the contact fatigue strength of the developed material was a great improvement over that of the conventionally used sintered material.

  • In this paper, the discharge characteristics of silent discharge chamber with 2mm and 3mm gap spacings were investigated. Dielectric of $Al_2O_3$ was embedded in the cylindrical type of discharge chamber. It was known that V-I and P-V characteristics depend strongly on the charge transportation characteristics, and in the low frequency silent discharge mode of operation, discharge voltage was always sustained to Vd, irrespective of applied voltage.

  • Genome mining has recently emerged as a powerful strategy to discover novel microbial secondary metabolites. However, more than 50% of biosynthetic gene clusters are not transcribed under standardized laboratory culture condition. Several methods have been applied to activate silent biosynthetic gene clusters in the microbes so far. Among the regulatory systems for production of secondary metabolites, global regulators, which affect transcription of genes through regulatory cascades, typically govern the production of small molecules. In this review, global regulators to affect production of microbial secondary metabolites were discussed.

  • We consider a checkpointing model for silent errors, where a checkpoint is taken every fixed number of verifications. Assuming generally distributed i.i.d. inter-occurrence times of errors, we derive the reliability of the model as a function of the number of verifications between two checkpoints and the duration of work interval between two verifications.

  • The tunnels that longer than 2km which have been recently constructed have serious noise problems resulting from the friction of vehicle wheels and pavement. In special, concrete pavement inside tunnels with a closed characteristic increases discomfort due to the traffic noise and the dust of pavement pollutes the air in tunnels. Therefore, it is urgent that we find out ways to cope with. This study purported to reduce noise inside tunnels covers the investigation of various pavement surface treatment methods adapted in developed countries, the analysis of the effect in noise reduction and construction methods and cases. The surface treatment method for silent pavement in tunnels reduced noise to 5dB (A)~10dB (A). Aggregate treatment method is evaluated the most appropriate method in that, related with other surface treatment method, it reduces noise and improves skid resistance. It is necessary for us to introduce equipments and design and rearrange of specification for the development of the silent pavement method in Korea.
