  • Carbon-silica membranes were Prepared by Pyrolyzing polyimide/silica composite obtained from ill-situ polymerization of alkoxy silanes via sol-gel reaction. In this study, effects of silica content and silica network in polyimide matrix were focused on the gas permeation and separation properties of the final carbon-silica membrane. The membranes prepared were characterized with a field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), a solid state $^{29}$ Si nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy ($^{29}$ Si-NMR), an electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA), a thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and gas permeation tests.

Role of Rab11 on Membrane Trafficking of Rat Vanilloid Receptor, TRPV1 (바닐로이드 수용체 TRPV1의 막수송과정에서의 Rab11의 역할)

  • Vanilloid receptor, TRPV1 (transient receptor potential vanilloid 1) is a non-selective cation channel that responds to a variety of pain-eliciting material including capsaicin, pH, heat. Although, membrane trafficking of TRPV1 was not much known so far, TRPV1 was reported to interact with FIP3 (family of Rab11 interacting protein 3). FIP3 was identified as one of Rab11 interacting proteins that is recently reported important in membrane trafficking of several channel proteins directly or indirectly. Therefore, in this study, we examined the role of Rab11 in the membrane trafficking of TRPV1 using cell biological and biochemical techniques. Rab11 was found really colocalized with TRPV1 based on the result of confocal microscopy. However, GST-pulldown assay, one of biochemical technique, found that Rab11 did not interact with TRPV1. Although Rab11 does not interact with TRPV1 directly, we hypothesized that Rab11 is indeed involved in the membrane trafficking of TRPV1. In order to examine further the role of Rab11 in the membrane trafficking of TRPV1, the expression of TRPV1 on the membrane was examined when the expression of Rab11 was decreased down to about 50% by siRNA technique and found decreased significantly. From this result, we can conclude that Rab11 is involved in the membrane trafficking of TRPV1 in a way of including FIP3.

The Permeation Characteristics of $O_{2}/N_{2}$ Gas for Composite Membrane Prepared by Plasma Polymerization (플라즈마 종합에 의해 제조된 복합막에 대한 $O_{2}/N_{2}$의 기체투과 특성)

  • In this study, we prepared non-porous plasma membrane for having high permeability and selectivity and this membrane was deposited on the $Al_{2}O_{3}$ membrane by using $CHF_{3}$ & $SiH_{4}$ monomer. Also, we investigated for the permeation characteristics of the plasma polymer membrane by Ar plasma treatment. When the position of substrate was near cathode, the selectivity was increased with Ar plasma treatment time and rf-power. The pore size of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ membrane had an effect on the permeability and the position of substrate affected selectivity.

Hydrogen-Permselective TiO$_2$2/SiO$_2$2 Membranes Formed by Chemical Vapor Deposition

  • Films of TiO$_2$/SiO$_2$ were deposited on the inner surface of the porous glass support tubes by decomposition of tetraisopropyl titanate (TIPT) and tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) at atmospheric pressure. Dense and hydrogen -permselective membranes were formed at 400-600$\^{C}$. The permeation rates of H$_2$ through the membrane at 600$\^{C}$ were 0.2-0.4 ㎤(STP)/min-㎠ atm and H$_2$:N$_2$permeation ratios were above 1000. The permeation properties of the membranes were investigated at various deposition temperatures and TIPT/TEOS concentrations. Decomposition of TIPT alone at temperatures above 400$\^{C}$ produced porous crystalline TiO$_2$ films and they were not H7-selective. Decomposition of TEOS produced H$_2$-permeable SiO$_2$ films at 400-600$\^{C}$ but film deposition rate was very low. Addition of TIFT to the TEOS stream significantly accelerated the deposition rate and produced highly H$_2$-selective films. Increasing the TIPT/TEOS concentration ratio increased the deposition rate. The TiO$_2$/SiO$_2$ membranes formed at 600 $\^{C}$ have the permeation properties comparable to those of SiO$_2$ membranes produced from TEOS.

  • Film Bulk Acoustic wave Resonator (FBAR) using thin piezoelectric films can be fabricated as monolithic integrated devices with compatibility to semiconductor process, leading to small size, low cost and high Q RF circuit elements with wide applications in communications area. This paper presents a MMIC compatible Suspended FBAR using surface micromachining. It is possible to make Si$_3$N$_4$/SiO$_2$/Si$_3$N$_4$membrane by using surface micromachining and its good effect is to remove the substrate silicon loss. FBAR was made on 2$\mu\textrm{m}$ multi-layered membrane using CVD process. According to our result, Fabricated film bulk acoustic wave resonator has two adventages. First, in the respect of device Process, our Process of the resonator using surface micromachining is very simple better than that of resonator using bull micromachining. Second, because of using the multiple layer, thermal expansion coefficient is compensated, so, the stress of thin film is reduced.

Hydrogen Permeation of ZnO-SiC Membranes Encapsulated with SiO2

  • ZnO and SiC powders were fabricated to make crack-free composite membranes. Parts of some membranes were re-treated with an encapsulation process. These membranes were characterized by XRD, BET, and FE-SEM analyzes. The hydrogen permeation fluxes of the encapsulated and heat-treated membranes after encapsulation were observed using Sievert's type equipment. Values were measured at 1 bar with increasing temperatures. The obtained values of encapsulated and further heat-treated membrane at 298 K were $4.20{\times}10^{-6}$ and $8.64{\times}10^{-5}mol/m^2sPa$, respectively.

The Fabrication of Micro-Heaters with Low-Power Consumption Using SOI and Trench Structures

  • This paper presents optimized design, fabrication and thermal characteristics of micro-heaters for thermal MEMS (micro electro mechanical system) applications using SOI and trench structures. The micro-heaters are based on a thermal measurement principle and contains thermal isolation regions of 10 ${\mu}m$-thick Si membranes consisting of oxide-filled trenches in the SOI membrane rim. The micro-heaters were fabricated with Pt-RTD on the same substrate via MgO buff layer between Pt thin-film and $SiO_2$ layer. The thermal characteristics of micro-heater with trench-free SOI membrane structure was $280^{\circ}C$ at input power 0.9 W; in the presence of 10 trenches, it was $580^{\circ}C$ due to reduction of the external thermal loss. Therefore, a micro-heater with trenches in SOI membrane rim structure provides a powerful and versatile alternative technology for enhancing the performance of micro-thermal sensors and actuators.

  • Dimethyl ether(DME)는 대기 오염 문제와 에너지 문제가 대두됨에 따라 저공해 경유 대체 연료로 각광받고 있는 물질이다. 최근 들어 메탄올로부터 고체산 촉매를 이용하여 DME를 합성하고자 하는 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다[1-4]. 메탄올로부터 DME의 합성시 촉매로는 제올라이트나 SiO$_2$/${\gamma}$-Al$_2$O$_3$를 사용하기도 하지만 ${\gamma}$-Al$_2$O$_3$나 변형된 ${\gamma}$-Al$_2$O$_3$가 일반적으로 사용된다.(중략)
