  • Owing to the development of IT technology, a computerized system in various ways such as a variety of company's businesses, factory automation system and hospital healthcare system is introduced and operated. And it is possible to say that a computer system is more important than anything else to the extent that all businesses are suspended in case the system is down. Attention should be always paid to environmental management such as temperature, humidity and fire in server room for the normal operation of system in this situation. It is thought that there is necessity for a low-cost system which independently monitors environment round the clock in the situation where the person in charge doesn't pay attention and which informs a person in charge in real time when an event occurs for the operation of this small server room. Consequently, it is to be hoped that the suspension of service provided by computer system, which may occur due to a specific event, can be prevented.

  • The extreme heat watch and warnings (EHWW) which is constructed as a part of the climate change adaptation took effect in the summer of 2008, but active response actions failed to be taken because of low perception among citizens. Therefore, a survey investigation targeting citizens residing in Busan and the Gyeongnam province was conducted in order to know the perception regarding EHWW issued by the Korea Meteorological Administration, to identify the main media through which information is acquired, and to propose an improvement measures which may enhance the usefulness and the degree of satisfaction of weather information. The results are as follows; The perception regarding EHWW was not very high as it remained at 59.8% in terms of percentile. Although the statistical significance was not fulfilled in the categories of gender or occupation, significant differences did exist among age groups. The main medium through which citizens acquired information regarding EHWW was the television, which was followed in order by the internet, acquaintances, short message service (SMS), radio, newspapers, the 131 weather hotline, and other media. The usefulness of EHWW was somewhat high (67.2%), and female students were found to utilize the information to a higher degree than male students. The statistics on the level of satisfaction regarding the weather information (65.4%) revealed that most respondents were satisfied. Housewives, professional, and the elder age groups exhibited great satisfaction, leading to the conclusions that the level of perception and interest regarding to the special weather reports (SWR) have an impact on satisfaction of SWR.

  • Advances in the wireless Internet have led to the rise of diverse techniques which can access information regardless of time and place. There are many research efforts to identify the various ways to use a cellular phone in our everyday life. However, it has been rarely used in the elementary school. As an attempt to apply the wireless Internet technology to the elementary school, this study is to design and implement a wireless Internet homepage where the parents would be able to have an easy access to the information any place and any time. The characteristics of the wireless Internet homepage are as follows; first, the images were reduced to the minimum and the text-oriented information is mostly used to deliver the key information, considering the small screen and relatively slow transmission rates. Second, by providing a link set up between the wireless homepage and the wired Internet homepage, users can choose the more convenient access tool. Finally, the SMS (Short Message Service) messages could be used for an immediate delivery of information.

  • A fabricated hybrid control board using multi-communication is designed with a low power 8-bit microcontroller, ATxmega128A1. The microcontroller consists of 8 UART (Universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter) ports, 2 kbytes EEPROM, 128 kbytes flash memory, 8 kbytes SRAM. The 8 URAT ports are used for a multi-communication modem, a GPS module, etc. The EEPROM is used for saving a configuration for running programs, and the flash memory of 128 kbytes is used for storing a F/W (Firm Ware), and the 8 kbytes SRAM is used for stack and for storing memory of global variables while running programs. If we use the multi-communication of CDMA, TRS and RF to remotely control Aid to Navigation, it is able to remove the communication shadow area. Even though there is a shadow area for an individual communication method, we can select an optimal communication method. The compatibility of data has been enhanced as using of same data frame per communication device. For the test, 8640 of data have been collected from each buoy during 30 days in every 5 minutes and the receiving rate of the data has shown more than 85 %.

  • Protected vegetable production area is greater than 26% of the total vegetable production area in Korea, and portion of protected production area is increasing for flowers and fruits. To secure stable productivity and profitability, continuous and intensive monitoring and control of protected crop production environment is critical, which is labor- and time-consuming. Failure to maintain proper environmental conditions (e.g., light, temperature, humidity) leads to significant damage to crop growth and quality, therefore farmers should visit or be present close to the production area. To overcome these problems, application of remote monitoring and control of crop production environment has been increasing. Wireless monitoring and control systems have used CDMA, internet, and smart phone communications. Levels of technology adoption are different for farmers' needs for their cropping systems. In this paper, potential of wireless remote monitoring of protected agricultural environment using CDMA SMS text messages was reported. Monitoring variables were outside weather (precipitation, wind direction and velocity, temperature, and humidity), inside ambient condition (temperature, humidity, $CO_2$ level, and light intensity), irrigation status (irrigation flow rate and pressure), and soil condition (volumetric water content and matric potential). Scenarios and data formats for environment monitoring were devised, tested, and compared. Results of this study would provide useful information for adoption of wireless remote monitoring techniques by farmers.

  • Since automatic social engineering based spam attacks induce for users to click or receive the short message service (SMS), e-mail, site address and make a relationship with an unknown friend, it is very easy for them to active in online social networks. The previous spam detection schemes only apply manual filtering of the system managers or labeling classifications regardless of the features of social networks. In this paper, we propose the spam detection metric after reflecting on a couple of features of social networks followed by analysis of real social network data set, Twitter spam. In addition, we provide the online social networks based unsupervised scheme for automated social engineering spam with self organizing map (SOM). Through the performance evaluation, we show the detection accuracy up to 90% and the possibility of real time training for the spam detection without the manager.

  • The Short Message Service (SMS) is one of the most popular communication tools in the world. As the cost of SMS decreases, SMS spam has been growing largely. Even though there are many existing studies on SMS spam detection, researchers commonly have limitation collecting users' private SMS contents. They need to gather the information related to social network as well as personal SMS due to the intelligent spammers being aware of the social networks. Therefore, this paper proposes the Social network Building Scheme for SMS spam detection (SBSS) algorithm that builds synthetic social network dataset realistically, without the collection of private information. Also, we analyze and categorize the attack types of SMS spam to build more complete and realistic social network dataset including SMS spam.
