Recently recognize the labor productivity of port physical distribution system in the port and shipping areas, Much Efforts for evaluating this productivity has been made continuously. BUt still there is little study, so far, on a systematic research for the management of port labor gangs, and even those were mainly depended on a rule of thumb. Especially the object of this study is to introduce the method of optimal allocation and assignment for the labor gangs per pier unit in the multiple ships berthed at an arbitary pier or port. In case the multiple ships have a homogeneous cargoes or do not have sufficient labor gangs to be assigned. The problem of optimal allocation and assignment of the labor gangs to be i) formalized with multi-state decision process in form of difference equation as the pattern which converted the independent multiple ships into a single ship with the intra-multiple ships, and ii) the optimal size of labor gangs could be obtained through the simple mathematical method instead of complicated dynamic programming, and iii) In case of shortage of labor gangs available the evaluation function considering the labor gangs available and total shift times was introduced, and iv) the optimal allocation and assignment of labor gangs was dealt at the point of minimizing the summation of the total shift times and at the point of minimizing the total cost charged for the extra waiting time except PHI time during port times for the multiple ships combinations.
By performing a statistical change-point analysis of activities of the tropical cyclones (TCs) that have affected Korea (K-TCs), it was found that there was a significant change between 1983 and 1984. During the period of 1984-2004 (P2), more TCs migrated toward the west, recurved in the southwest, and affected Korea, compared to the period of 1965-1983 (P1). These changes for P2 were related to the southwestward expansion of the subtropical western North Pacific high (SWNPH) and simultaneously elongation of its elliptical shape toward Korea. Because of these changes, the central pressure and lifetime of K-TC during P2 were deeper and longer, respectively, than figures for P1. This stronger K-TC intensity for P2 was related to the more southwestward genesis due to the southwestward expansion of the SWNPH. The weaker vertical wind shear environment during P2 was more favorable for K-TC to maintain a strong intensity in the mid-latitudes of East Asia.

In this paper, a low-power 32-point IMDCT structure is proposed for MP3. Through re-odering of IMDCT matrices, we propose the systolic structure operating with 16, 8, 4, 2, and 1 cycle, respectively. To reduce power consumption, multiplication of each sub blocks are implemented by add and shift operation with CSD(Canrmic sigled digit) form coefficients. To reduce, furthermore, the number of adders, we utilize the common sub-expression sharing techniques. With these techniques, the relative power consumption of the proposed structure is reduced by 58.4% comparison to the conventional structure using only 2's complement form coefficient. Validity of the proposed structure is proved through Verilog-HDL coding.
For the execution of RIETAN program adopting Rietveld Analysis Method, the sample superconductor is made according to the solid state synthesis method at 920.deg. C for 24hrs, and was examined for the optimization of parameters needed to analyze Rietveld method with the input of the measured pattern data after measuring the pattern resulted from the X-ray diffraction. It was proven that the lattice constant of the superconductor which was consisted of Pmmm orthorhombic crystal structure in the analyzed space group correspond to the presented theoretical lattice constant a=3.8887(8).angs., b=3.8238(4).angs., c=11.7079.angs.. Therefore, it was examined and confin-ned that the R factor, which was compensated after analyzing the structure of superconductor resulted from this experimented data with the computer simulation, was refined to $R_{wp}$=8.83[%], $R_{P}$=6.47[%], $R_{I}$=10.08[%], $R_{F}$=7.19[%], $R_{E}$=3.76[%]. On the basis of these experimental data, the significant parameter such as the scale factor(S) and the zero point shift(Z) and FWHM value(U,V,W) were optimized as follows; S=2.0827E-3, Z=0.2146, U=4.2761E-2, V=1.7983E-2, and W=2.6768E-2.2.2.2.2.2.
In this paper, we develop an approach toward Joint Source-Channel Coding for MPEG-4(Moving picture Experts Group) based video coding In fixed and mobile reception environment. We have considered channel environment of AWGN and mobile reception. The source coder used MPEG-4 video. the channel coder used RCPC(Rate Compatible Punctured Convolution) and the modulation method used QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulation. This study determined optimum Trade-off point between source bit rate and channel coding rate In variable channel states. We compared Joint Source/channel Coding method and general constant bit rate transmission. In this results, Joint Source/channel Coding was appeared better performance than constant bit rate transmission.
Stitching algorithm obtain a descriptor of the feature points extracted from multiple images, and create a single image through the matching process between the each of the feature points. In this paper, a feature extraction and matching techniques for the creation of a high-speed panorama using video input is proposed. Features from Accelerated Segment Test(FAST) is used for the feature extraction at high speed. A new feature point matching process, different from the conventional method is proposed. In the matching process, by tracking region containing the feature point through the Mean shift vector required for matching is obtained. Obtained vector is used to match the extracted feature points. In order to remove the outlier, the RANdom Sample Consensus(RANSAC) method is used. By obtaining a homography transformation matrix of the two input images, a single panoramic image is generated. Through experimental results, we show that the proposed algorithm improve of speed panoramic image generation compared to than the existing method.
This paper presents the Doppler Scanning technique which enables us to detect the relative positions of moving distributed sources using Doppler frequency shift estimate when the moving source consists of distributed sources with different signature frequencies. Doppler frequency shifts of characteristic frequencies of machinery noise sources such as ship's generator and propeller, with tine along CPA (Closest Point of Approach of moving source) are unique, and can be functioned with respect to each source position. Therefore, this technique can be applied to estimate the relative geometrical positions between machinery noise sources. The Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) which has a high frequency resolution with high time resolution, is adopted for improving accuracy of Doppler frequency shift estimate geometric resolution of machinery positions since machinery noise sources show in general low frequency band characteristics with limited spacial distance. The performance of the technique is examined by the numerical simulations and is verified by the experiment using loudspeaker sources on the roof of the car.
As an efficient method to detect blending of general gravitational microlensing events, it is proposed to measure the shift of source star image centroid caused by microlensing. The conventional method to detect blending by this method is measuring the difference between the positions of the source star image point spread function measured on the images taken before and during the event (the PSF centroid shift, ${\delta}{\theta}$c,PSF). In this paper, we investigate the difference between the centroid positions measured on the reference and the subtracted images obtained by using the difference image analysis method (DIA centroid shift, ${\delta}{\theta}$c.DIA), and evaluate its relative usefulness in detecting blending over the conventional method based on ${\delta}{\theta}$c,PSF measurements. From this investigation, we find that the DIA centroid shift of an event is always larger than the PSF centroid shift. We also find that while ${\delta}{\theta}$c,PSF becomes smaller as the event amplification decreases, ${\delta}{\theta}$c.DIA remains constant regardless of the amplification. In addition, while ${\delta}{\theta}$c,DIA linearly increases with the increasing value of the blended light fraction, ${\delta}{\theta}$c,PSF peaks at a certain value of the blended light fraction and then eventually decreases as the fraction further increases. Therefore, measurements of ${\delta}{\theta}$c,DIA instead of ${\delta}{\theta}$c,PSF will be an even more efficient method to detect the blending effect of especially of highly blended events, for which the uncertainties in the determined time scales are high, as well as of low amplification events, for which the current method is highly inefficient.
In this short note, we report the result of measurement for the ferro- to paramagnetic phase transition temperature, that is Curie point of bulk gadolinium. This note is written to give the solid validity for the previous measurement of Curie point shift of gadolinium film (1. Rhee, E. Lee and S. Lee, Kor. J. of Mat. Research,3, 3, 1993). The Curie point of bulk gadolinium is determined by measuring the resistance of sample as function of temperatures. At Curie point, we can observe the resistivity anomaly which arises due to the heat capacity difference between below and above Curie point. Finally, the curie point of bulk gadolinium is found to be 19.2${\pm}$0.$3^{\circ}C$.
Some circadian rhythms can become disorgnized due to rotating shift work. This lack of organization, termed desynchronization, can produce a group of symptoms such as insomnia, GI disturbance and fatigue among many rotating shift workers. The magnitude of these symptoms are influenced by personal and environmental factors and the patterns of shift work. This study was carried out to investigate the subjective symptoms related to rotational schedules of shift work after personal and environmental factors adjusted. 182 male workers in rapidly rotating shift system and 86 male workers in weekly rotating shift system were conducted the questionnaire on personal factors and subjective sleep, GI and fatigue symptoms. Major findings obtained from this study are as follows: 1. The symptoms of 'feeling tired at work' and 'being irritable' were more frequent in weekly rotating shift workers (P<0.05), and the mean of symptom score was significantly higher in weekly rotating shift workers(P<0.01). 2. According to 6 hours of sleeping which is a definite elevation point of fatigue, there was not a significant difference between two groups in sleeping hours. Among workers in rapidly rotating shift system, the mean of symptom score was significatly higher in workers of less than 6 hours of sleeping(P<0.05), but it was not different among weekly rotating shift workers. 3. The symptoms of GI disturbance were more frequent in weekly rotating shift workers but statistically not significant. 4. The positive rate of mental and physical fatigue symptoms were significantly higher in weekly rotating shift workers(P<0.01) and mental and physical fatigue symptoms were more frequent in them (P<0.01). 5. After the effect of the factors that were significantly different between two groups by $X^2-test$ were controlled, the mean score of sleep disturbance was significantly higher in weekly rotating shift workers (P<0.01) and mental physical fatigue symptoms were more frequent in them (P<0.01). Based on these study results, subjective symptoms were more common in the weekly rotating shift workers. In future, medical examination and laboratory test will be also administered to evaluate a more accurate health outcomes and the review of current shift schedules will be required.
