  • We give an elementary proof of one of the main results in [H.O. Kim, R.Y. Kim, J.K. Lim, The infimum cosine angle between two finitely generated shift-invariant spaces and its applications, Appl. Comput. Har-mon. Anal. 19 (2005) 253-281] concerning the existence of an oblique projection onto a finitely generated shift-invariant space along the orthogonal complement of another finitely generated shift-invariant space under the assumption that the generators generate Riesz bases.

  • Using the fiberization technique of a shift-invariant space and the matrix characterization of the decomposition of a shift-invariant space of finite length into an orthogonal sum of singly generated shift-invariant spaces, we show that the main result in [13] can be interpreted as a statement about the length of a shift-invariant space, and give a more natural construction of multiwavelet frames from a frame multiresolution analysis of $L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)$.

  • As a generalization of the Fourier transform, the fractional Fourier transform plays an important role both in theory and in applications of signal processing. We present a new approach to reach a uniform sampling theorem in the shift-invariant spaces associated with the fractional Fourier transform domain.

  • In the previous paper, we gave a characterization of backward shift invariant subspaces of the Hardy space over the bidisk on which [${S_z}^n$, $S_w^*$] = 0 for a positive integer n ${\geq}$ 2. In this case, it holds that ${S_z}^n=cI$ for some $c{\in}\mathbb{C}$. In this paper, it is proved that if [$S_{\varphi}$, $S_w^*$] = 0 and ${\varphi}{\in}H^{\infty}({\Gamma}_z)$, then $S_{\varphi}=cI$ for some $c{\in}\mathbb{C}$.

  • This paper describes a new iris recognition method based on a shift-invariant wavelet sub-images. For the feature representation, we first preprocess an iris image for the compensation of the variation of the iris and for the easy implementation of the wavelet transform. Then, we decompose the preprocessed iris image into multiple subband images using a shift-invariant wavelet transform. For feature representation, we select a set of subband images, which have rich information for the classification of various iris patterns and robust to noises. In order to reduce the size of the feature vector, we quantize. each pixel of subband images using the Lloyd-Max quantization method Each feature element is represented by one of quantization levels, and a set of these feature element is the feature vector. When the quantization is very coarse, the quantized level does not have much information about the image pixel value. Therefore, we define a new similarity measure based on mutual information between two features. With this similarity measure, the size of the feature vector can be reduced without much degradation of performance. Experimentally, we show that the proposed method produced superb performance in iris recognition.

Then, the preprocessed iris image is decomposed into multiple subbands using a shift invariant wavelet transform. The best subband among them, which have rich information for various iris pattern and robust to noises, is selected for iris recognition. The quantized pixels of the best subband yield the feature representation. Experimentally, we show that the proposed method produced superb performance in iris recognition.

  • TIn this paper, a centering method for an unfocused input character using the spherical domain system and the centering character to use the shift invariant feature for the recognition system is proposed. A system for recognition is implemented using the centroid method with coordinate average values, and the results of an above 78.14% average differential ratio for the character features were obtained. It is possible to extract the shift invariant feature using spherical transformation similar to the human eyeball. The proposed method, which is feature extraction using spherical coordinate transform and transformed extracted data, makes it possible to move the character to the center position of the input plane. Both digital and optical technologies are mixed using a spherical coordinate similar to the 3 dimensional human eyeball for the 2 dimensional plane format. In this paper, a centering character feature using the spherical domain is proposed for character recognition, and possibilities for the recognized possible character shape as well as calculating the differential ratio of the centered character using a centroid method are suggested.

  • Let $G$ be a metrizable, ${\sigma}$-compact locally compact abelian group with a compact open subgroup. In this paper we define the Gramian and the dual Gramian operators for shift invariant subspaces of $L^2(G)$ and we use them to characterize shift generated dual frames for shift in- variant spaces, which forms a frame for a subspace of $L^2(G)$. We present necessary and sufficient conditions for which standard dual is a unique SG-dual frame of type I and type II.
