  • This paper considers the sequencing problem in mixed model assembly lines with hybrid workstation types and sequence-dependent setup times. Computation time is often a critical factor in choosing a method of determining the sequence. We develop a mathematical formulation of the problem to minimize the overall length of a line, and present a tabu search technique which can provide a near optimal solution in real time. The proposed technique is compared with a genetic algorithm and a branch-and-bound method. Experimental results are reported to demonstrate the efficiency of the technique.

  • There is the high interest for sensing of tool wear with the aim of controlling machine tools productivity from the point of view of qualitity. Difficulties in this measurement are also known. This study is on the development of measurement setup for crater wear by CCD image inturning. In this study, the crater wear measurement system consists of the He-Ne gas laser, diffraction grating. CCD camera, noise filter, slit, microcomputer, diverging lens, converging lens and so on. He-Ne laser beam passes through a diverging lens and a diffraction grating is positioned properly. A converging lens focuses so that the interference fringes can be obtained on the crater wear. Performance test revealed that the developed image technique provides precise, absolute tool-wear quantification and reduces human measurement errors. The results obtained are as follows 1. The digitizing of one image requires less than 2ses. 2. It can give detailed information on crater wear with limited times and errors 3. All parameters required by specification are easily obtained for several points of the cutting edge.

  • In this paper, a two-echelon production-inventory model is developed which integrates the production scheduling problem of the multi-products produced on a single facility and the inventory problem of the related raw materials. The setup costs of the final products are assumed to be dependent on the production sequence. The aim is to determine simultaneously the production cycle time and the production sequence of the final products, and the procurement cycle times of the raw materials. For the model developed, a solution algorithm is suggested and illustrated with a numerical example. And the result is compared with those obtained by two separate subproblems.

  • Semiconductor manufacturing line includes several batch processes which are to be controlled effectively to enhance the productivity of the line. The key problem in batch processes is a dynamic batch sizing problem which determines number of lots processed simultaneously in a single botch. The batch sizing problem in semiconductor manufacturing has to consider delay of lots, setup cost of the process, machine utilization and so on. However, an optimal solution cannot be attainable due to dynamic arrival pattern of lots, and difficulties in forecasting future arrival times of lots of the process. This paper proposes an efficient batch sizing heuristic, which considers delay cost, setup cost, and effect of the forecast errors in determining the botch size dynamically. Extensive numerical experiments through simulation are carried out to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed heuristic in four key performance criteria: average delay, variance of delay, overage lot size and total cost. The results show that the proposed heuristic works effectively and efficiently.

  • The MATS (Mesosphere Airglow / Aerosol Tomography Spectroscopy) satellite is a Swedish scientific microsatellite which Kyung Hee University participates in developing. The limb telescope of the MATS satellite is designed with linear astigmatism-free off axis optical configuration which allows wide field of view ($5.67^{\circ}{\times}0.91^{\circ}$). Here we present the full-field optical performance test setup that consists of a point source, a collimator, the limb telescope and a CCD (Charged Coupled Device). The incidence angle of the collimator was carefully controlled by the rotary stage under the limb telescope. The imaging tests represent expected results without dominant aberrations.

  • This paper is proposing a novel machine scheduling model for the unrelated parallel machine scheduling problem without setup times to minimize the total completion time, also known as "makespan". This problem is a NP-complete problem, and to date, most approaches for real-life situations are based on the operator's experience or simple heuristics. The new model based on the Memetic Algorithm, which was proposed by P. Moscato in 1989, is a hybrid algorithm that includes genetic algorithm and local search optimization. The new model is tested on randomly generated datasets, and is compared to optimal solution, and four scheduling models; three rule-based heuristic algorithms, and a genetic algorithm based scheduling model from literature; the test results show that the new model performed better than scheduling models from literature.

  • When using Image Guided Radiation Therapy, the patient is placed using skin marker first and after confirming anatomical location using OBI, the couch is moved to correct the set up. Evaluation for the error made at that moment was done. Through comparing $0^{\circ}$ and $270^{\circ}$ direction DRR image and OBI image with 2D-2D matching when therapy planning, comparison between patient's therapy plan setup and actual treatment setup was made to observe the error. Treatment confirmation on important organs such as head, neck and spinal cord was done every time through OBI setup and other organs such as chest, abdomen and pelvis was done 2 ~ 3 times a week. But corrections were all recorded on OIS so that evaluation on accuracy could be made through using skin index which was divided into head, neck, chest and abdomen-pelvis on 160 patients. Average setup error for head and neck patient on each AP, SI, RL direction was $0.2{\pm}0.2cm$, $-0.1{\pm}0.1cm$, $-0.2{\pm}0.0cm$, chest patient was $-0.5{\pm}0.1cm$, $0.3{\pm}0.3cm$, $0.4{\pm}0.2cm$, and abdomen was $0.4{\pm}0.4cm$, $-0.5{\pm}0.1cm$, $-0.4{\pm}0.1cm$. In case of pelvis, it was $0.5{\pm}0.3cm$, $0.8{\pm}0.4cm$, $-0.3{\pm}0.2cm$. In rigid body parts such as head and neck showed lesser setup error compared to chest and abdomen. Error was greater on chest in horizontal axis and in AP direction, abdomen-pelvis showed greater error. Error was greater on chest in horizontal axis because of the curve in patient's body when the setup is made. Error was greater on abdomen in AP direction because of the change in front and back location due to breathing of patient. There was no systematic error on patient setup system. Since OBI confirms the anatomical location, when focus is located on the skin, it is more precise to use skin marker to setup. When compared with 3D-3D conformation, although 2D-2D conformation can't find out the rolling error, it has lesser radiation exposure and shorter setup confirmation time. Therefore, on actual clinic, 2D-2D conformation is more appropriate.

  • This paper is to analyze an integrated production and inventory model in a single-vendor multi-buyer supply chain. The vendor is defined as the manufacturer and the buyers as the retailers. The product that the manufacturer produces is supplied to the retailers with constant periodic time interval. The production rate of the manufacturer is constant for the time. The demand of the retailers is constant for the time. The cycle time of the vendor is defined as the elapsed time from the start of the production to the start of the next production, while the cycle times of the buyer as the elapsed time between the adjacent supply times from the vendor to the buyer. The cycle times of the vendor and the buyers that minimizes the total cost in a supply chain are analyzed. The cost factors are the production setup cost and the inventory holding cost of the manufacturer, the ordering cost and the inventory holding cost of the retailers. The cycle time of the vendor is investigated through the cycle time that satisfies economic production quantity with the production setup cost and the inventory holding cost of the manufacturer. An integrated production and inventory model is formulated, and an algorithm is developed. An numerical example is presented to explain the algorithm. The solution of the algorithm for the numerical examples is compared with that of genetic algorithm. Numerical example shows that the vendor and the buyers can save cost by integrated decision making.

  • A DC-magnetron inline sputter was established, and the influence of the base pressure on the structural characteristics of the ITO thin films was studied. When the inline sputter system was established and operated for ITO sputtering, its initial vacuum level did not go below $5\times10^{-6}$ torr. The vacuum leak test was conducted by measuring t he elapsed time until the vacuum level reached $1\times10^{-6}$ torr. The base pressure was successfully maintained at $1\times10^{-6}$ torr for 900 min, and the uniformity of the ITO film that had been deposited at this pressure significantly improved.

  • This paper will evaluate the usefulness of 3D target of CBCT by comparing human body's posture and position when simulated treatment is being carried out as well as human phantom posture and position using CBCT which is applying OBI. From the Rando Phantom which is located in the datum point moved in parallel and rotationary direction using CBCT. Then the mean and standard deviation difference on images location difference that are acquired were compared with real the Rando Phantom' moved distance. To make a plan of simulated treatment with the same procedure of real radiation therapy, we are going to setup the Rando Phantom. With an assumption that the position is set in accurate place, we measured the setup errors accroding to the change of the translation and rotation. Tests are repeated 10 times to get the standard deviation of the error values. The variability in couch shift after positioning equivalent to average residual error showed lateral $0.2{\pm}0.2$mm, longitudinal $0.4{\pm}0.3$mm, vertical $-0.4{\pm}0.1$mm. The average rotation erroes target localization after simulated $0.4{\pm}0.2$ mm, $0.3{\pm}0.3$ mm, and $0.3{\pm}0.4$ mm. The detection error by rotation is $0{\sim}0.6^{\circ}$ CBCT 3D/3D matching using the Rando Phantom minimized the errors by realizing accurate matching during simulated treatment and patient caring.
