  • The binary decision diagram (BDD) method provides a means to calculate the exact probability of a fault tree, but cannot solve large fault trees for nuclear power plant PSAs. However, the BDD method can be used as a supplementary means to increase the accuracy of PSA quantification, especially for a seismic PSA which includes many non-rare events. Since it is difficult to solve a large PSA model using BDD method, several approaches have been developed that partially apply the BDD technique to small-sized branches of a large PSA model. This paper proposes an approach of partially applying BDD technique to large-sized branches. The results from the pilot application to a seismic PSA model shows that the partial BDD approach of this paper provides a relatively accurate way to quantify each sequence as well as the overall core damage in a seismic PSA model.

  • The study focused on the petrology and petrochemistry of the so called "Ganghwa syenitic rocks" which intruded into metasediment of basement in southeastern part of Ganghwa Island. The geologic sequence of the mapped area was shown in table 1, 10 model analyses and 7 chemical analyses on the rock samples taken from the Ganghwa syenitic rocks and Manisan granite have been used to discuss the nomenclature of the rocks and petrological relationship between rock types. The petrograpical and petrochemical features based on, the analyses are as follows: 1) Ganghwa syenitic rocks consist of Ganghwa alkali syenite and Ganghwa diorite porphyry which based on the classification of the subcommision on systematics of igneous of IGUS. Ganghwa diorite porphyry which occured as dike forms are intruded into Ganghwa alkali syenite. The rock forming minerals of Ganghwa alkali syenite are composed of perthite, plagioclase, quartz, hornblend and chlorite in major, and zircon, apatite, sericite and magnetite in minor. Ganghwa diorite porphyries consist of plagioclase, biotite, hornblend, orthoclase and chlorite, with, porphyritic texture. 2) In silica-oxides variation (Fig. 2) and AMF diagram (Fig_ 3), the Ganghwa alkali syenite is similar to the trend of Daly's average basalt-andesite-dacite-rhyolite than Skaergaard which shows the trend of the fractional crystallization of magma, and equivalent to the alkali rock series by Peacock. 3) The general trend of data points shift to plagioclase, and are superimposed on the alkali rich terminal part of the granodiorite province of SW Finland in normative Q-Kf-Pl(Fig. 4) and Or-Ab-An diagram respectively. The above-mentioned evidences suggested that the Ganghwa syenitic rocks are the differential products resulted by assimilation of intermediated magma and metasedment rock under relatively rapid cooling condition.

  • Software is continuously changing during development and after development. When a change is required, it is difficult to precisely grasp the scope of impact intuitively. A systematic method is needed to accomplish the required change. The purpose of impact analysis on software change is to avoid missing any information by recognizing the ripple effect that the change might cause. This paper proposes a dynamic method that can easily identify the scope of change request by using the association between use-case scenarios and artifacts of UML modeling in object-oriented development environment. By using this approach, the scope of impact that the change might have on other components such as class diagram and sequence diagram in use-case scenarios can be identified by forward tracing. In addition, analysis of influence of possible further changes due to changes in other components can be identified iteratively through backward tracing. The results of this paper are not limited to impact analysis on artifacts and change type. They can also be used as basic guidelines during impact analysis for various change requests.

  • High quality software is the one that has an excellent performance with a low price, consumer's request satisfaction and less bug. In addition, it should have structure easily maintainable. CBD(Component Based Development)technology is getting more popular as a method for software development which can satisfy all above conditions. Although there are a lot of test methods about component for composition, function, compatibility and reliability, it's not enough to ensure that the component has reliability, maintainability, and reusability, so an integated method are necessary. In this paper, we are going to propose the solution model for integrating components, which are based on UML (Unified Modeling Language) technologies. This model can extract existing faults in the component interfaces by referencing sequence diagram and collaboration diagram.

  • More than 22,300 stars in NGC 6752 were measured over the region of 5' < r < 23' in B and V AAT plates. The most of these are main sequence(MS) stars and about 130 blue horizontal branch(BHB) stars were detected. The C-M diagram of all measured stars shows gaps appearing at $V{\approx}15.^{m}2$ and $16.^{m}2$ along the red giant branch(RGB) and their appearance shown by Lee & Cannon(1980) is found to be independent of measured region. The bimodal distribution of BHB stars is confirmed again and a wide gap shown by Lee & Cannon(1980) at $V{\approx}16^m$ is clearly seen for stars in the outer part (8' < r < 13') in the cluster. It is noted, however, that this gap is occupied by about a dozen of BHB staIs located in the inner region (5' < r < 8'). The number ratio of bright BHB star (V < $15^m$) to faint BHB stars (V > $15^m$) decreases with increasing radial distance from the cluster center. Three faintest BHB stars were found, and two stars ($V{\approx}18.^{m}5$) of there are located in the inner region of $r{\approx}6'$ and the other faintest one ($V{\approx}19.^{m}3$) located in the outer part of $r{\approx}13'$. Also a bluest star of (B - V) $\approx$ -0.5 at $V{\approx}17.^{m}2$ is found but it is located at the outer part of $r{\approx}13'$ in NE region. Therefore, the membership of the faintest BHB star and bluest star is suspected. The luminosity function(LF) and mass function(MF) for NGC 6752 were derived for MS stars. The LF for stars of $M_v\;<\;6^m$ in the outer part of r > 8' shows a consistency with that derived by Penny & Dickens(1986).

  • Due to the global warming and unstable abnormal climate changes, water resources differences between regions and water shortage are occurring. Therefore, the water resources management is becoming more important for the stable securement of future water supply and demand. Researches on Smart Water Grid (SWG), which is considered as a new method, that can stably secure and maintain the water resources, are actively being conducted but it is still in infancy. Thus, this study aimed to design SWG simulator based on GIS in order to provide integrated water information in web environment. The user's requirements were analyzed for system development and important functions such as SWG current situation checking, future prediction, filtration plant situation checking functions were designed and data expression techniques using GIS and HTML5 were applied to enhance the understanding of the users. Also, when the emergency situations occurred, the solving process of the situations are reproduced to check the solution process using scenario reproduction functions. Use-case, class, sequence diagram, which are a design for real system development and defines the system usage contents of users, were written, and the story board was written to check the final development contents. This study designed a SWG simulator in order to support the water maintenance reacting to climate changes. The development of system is expected to help securing information to deal with emergency situations such as water shortage and help the decision maker to make decision through reproduction of scenario. The major functions were designed for the convenience of water resource manager and producer but new contents for consumers must be developed to enable duplex information transmission.

  • The study revealed that the sequence of volcanism in Ulrung island can be classified into 5 stages, and the volcanic history is summerized as follow: 1st stage: Eruption of basaltic agglomerates, tuffs and lavas, 2nd stage: Eruption of trachytic and trachyandesitic agglomerates and tuffs, 3rd stage: Eruption of trachyte lavas and their lapilli tuffs, 4th stage: Eruption of trachyte lavas and nepheline phonolites, 5th stage: Eruption of pumice, trachytic ash and lapilli, and plutonic ejecta (fragments of alkali gabbro, monzonite and alkali feldspar syenite) and a subsequent caldera formation. Finally, a small scale eruption of leucite bearing trachyandesite lava in the caldera. Several evidences show that there have been long erosional intervals between the 1st and 2nd stages and between the 4th and 5th stages. A K-Ar age for trachybasalt lava of the 1st stage was determined to be 1.8 Ma, and a $C^{14}$ age, 9300Y. (Machida, 1981) is available for these volcanic events. Therefore, it is considered that volcanic activity of the island above sea level began at least in early Pleistocene, and continued to until 9300 years ago exploding large amount of pumice, prior to pouring out of leucite bearing trachyandesite from the inner caldera. Using solidification index (SI) of Kuno, microscopic texture and mineral composition as criteria of the classification, the volcanic rocks are classified into alkali basalt, trachybasalt, trachyandesite, trachyte and phonolite. These are mostly prophyritic in texture. Main constituent minerals of alkali basalt and trachybasalt are plagioclase, olivine, Ti-augite and magnetite. Principal minerals of trachyandesite are plagioclase, anorthoclase, clinopyroxenes, kaersutite, biotite and magnetite. Trachyte and phonolite consist mainly of anorthoclase, clinopyroxene and magnetite, showing typical trachytic texture in groundmass. In solidification index, alkali basalt ranges from 39 to 27, trachybasalt 17 to 14, trachyandesite 12 to 9 and trachyte 8.15 to 0.72. A trend of compositional variation showing a typical alkali volcanic rock series is revealed on $SiO_2$-oxides and SI-oxides diagrams. In $SiO_2$-total alkali diagram, alkali lime index and An-Ab'-Or diagram, the samples fall into the fields of potassic series of the alkali volcanic rock series, whereas in A-F-M diagram show a trend toward the alkali enrichment with a curve approaching toward the iron apex. In particular, trachybasalt lavas in this island have higher total iron contents which is comparable to alkali rocks in other areas, e. g. as Gough and Tristan volcanic islands located near the Mid-Oceanic ridge in South Atlantic Ocean.

  • In this paper, four types of deposition control processes such as temperature, pressure, input/output(I/O), and gas were replaced by the Internet of Things(IoT) to analyze the data load and sequence procedure before and after the application of it. Through this analysis, we designed the load balancing in the sensing area of the deposition process by creating the sequence diagram of the deposition process. In order to do this, we were modeling of the sensor I/O according to the arrival process and derived the result of measuring the load of CPU and memory. As a result, it was confirmed that the reliability on the deposition processes were improved through performing some functions of the equipment controllers by the IoT. As confirmed through this paper, by applying the IoT to the deposition process, it is expected that the stability of the equipment will be improved by minimizing the load on the equipment controller even when the equipment is expanded.

  • In the ship building industry various problems of erection is counterfeited due to formation of bottle necks in the block erection flow pattern This kind of problems cause accumulated problems in real-time erection right on the floor, When such a problem is approached, a support data of the entire erection sequence should be available, Here planning is done by reasoning about the future events in order to verify the existence of a reasonable series of actions to accomplish a goal. This technique helps in achieving benefits like handling search complications, in resolving goal conflicts and anticipation of bottleneck formation well in advance to take necessary countermeasures and boosts the decision support system, The data is being evaluated and an anticipatory function is to be developed This function is quite relevant in day to day planning operation. The system updates database with rearrangement of off-critical blocks in the erection sequence diagram, As a result of such a system, planners can foresee months ahead and can effectively make decisions regarding the control of loads on the man, machine and work flow pattern, culminating to an efficient load management. Such a foreseeing concept helps us in eliminating backtracking related adjustment which is less efficient compared to the look-ahead concept. An attempt is made to develop a computer program to update the database of block arrangement pattern based on heuristic formulation.

  • We present the ultraviolet (UV) color-color relation of early-type galaxies (ETGs) in the nearby universe (0.05 < z < 0.12) to investigate the properties of hot stellar populations responsible for the UV excess (UVX). The initial sample of ETGs is selected by the spectroscopic redshift and the morphology parameter from the SDSS DR 7, and then cross-matched with the GALEX far-UV (FUV) and near-UV (NUV) GR6 data. The cross-matched ETG sample is further classified by their emission line characteristics in the optical spectra into quiescent, star-forming, and active galactic nucleus categories. Contaminations from early-type spiral galaxies, mergers, and morphologically disturbed galaxies are removed by visual inspection. By drawing the FUV-NUV (as a measure of UV spectral shape) versus FUV-r (as a measure of UVX strength) diagram for the final sample of -3700 quiescent ETGs, we find that the "old and dead" ETGs consist of a well-defined sequence in UV colors, the "UV red sequence," so that the stronger UVX galaxies should have a harder UV spectral shape systematically. However, the observed UV spectral slope is too steep to be reproduced by the canonical stellar population models in which the UV flux is mainly controlled by age or metallicity parameters. Moreover, 2 mag of color spreads both in FUV-NUV and FUV-r appear to be ubiquitous among any subsets in distance or luminosity. This implies that the UVX in ETGs could be driven by yet another parameter which might be even more influential than age or metallicity.
