The purpose of this study was to examine aesthetic effects of face type and necklines of one piece dress one of details in clothes on visual evaluation. For this study two set of stages were processed. At first stage data were collected from female college students in Kwang Ju.Chonnam. Subjects between the aged of 18-26 were took pictured of their faces then they were classified into 7 groups That is egg ob-long round square inverted triangle triangle and diamond shapes. At second stage two sets of experimental design were utilized based on the classified face types. A set of design was 5$\times$4 design which involved 5 levels (egg oblong round inverted triangle and diamong shape) of face type and 4 levels(round boat vee and square neckline) of basic neckline. Another set of de-sign also was 5$\times$4 design which involved 5 levels of face type and 4 levels of modified neckline. As experimental treatment the stimulus materials and questionnaires were employed. The qustionnaires were consisted of visual evaluations on the stimulus materials by using semantic differential scale,. The experiments were proceeded through 2 week by 30 subjects composed of gaduate students and staffs in some departments of Clothing and Textiles at college. Data were analyzed by Frequencies Mean Factor Analysis TTest ANOVA and Ducan's Multiple Range Test. The major results were as followed: 1. There were significant aesthetic effects of face type on visual evaluations, Especially egg and inverted triangle shape among the face types were evaluated more aesthetic than the other face shapes. 2. There were signifiant aesthetic effects of the neckline types on visual evaluations, Es-pecially vee neckline among necklines were more aesthetic than the other necklines,. 3. As compared with the basic neckline types and the modified neckline types the modified necklines were assessed more aes-thetically than the basic necklines. 4, The face type and he neckline type were influenced interactively on visual evauations Specifically it showed that oblong round and diamond shape of face type were matched to vee neckline more than the other necklines, Also it showed that the egg and inverted tri-angle shape wee matched to round vee and squre neckline more than boat neckline.
Recently. there are demanding a better sidewalk environment considering side of psychic as well as physical factors as the rapid growth of cities and improvement of traffic consciousness. Also. it needs to give a better sidewalk environment because those pedestrians evade a sidewalk space with minimum Physical design standards. So. we think very important that get a grip what makes Pedestrian feel a comfort and amenity in sidewalk above all. In this study, we carried out a cognition experiment of sidewalk environment on considering the human's psychic with Sensibility Ergonomics and the survey method using SD (Semantic Differential) scale. And we made a recognition evaluation model of sidewalk landscape and sensibility recognition model of sidewalk design factors using LISREL model that analysis sensibility recognition of sensibility adjective by SD scale. In results, we found out a possibility of the design with comfort and amenity in sidewalk environment as considering Sensibility Ergonomics, and an importance of harmonious green environment as a roadside tree etc. above all.

The purpose of this study was to investigate factors and variables which have significant effects on landscape satisfaction of urban pedestrian road in Bun-dang new town and to suggest basic information for urban pedestrian road design. These works consist of two phase. First, we tested the Hye-Cheon college students' degree of landscape satisfaction for 37 spots of urban pedestrian road and then selected 10 sports slide by the Sturges' formula. Second, we analysed factors and variables on landscape satisfaction of urban pedestrian road using the semantic differential scale method and then processed using descriptive analysis, factor analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows; 1) The difference of landscape adjectives between the highest score of landscape satisfaction slide and the lowest score landscape satisfaction slide were diversity of vegetation, plenty of the shade of a tree, naturalness and cleanness. 2) Diversity of vegetation, width of road, freedom of danger and diversity of environment can be significant variables of major effects on landscape satisfaction of urban pedestrian road by using the multiple linear regression analysis. 3) Factors covering the landscape satisfaction of urban pedestrian road have been found to be Environment of urban pedestrian road and Constitution of urban pedestrian road. By using the Varimaxs' rotation factor analysis for the number of factors' cumulative percentage has been obtained as 64%. 4) Environment of urban pedestrian road and Constitution of urban pedestrian road can be significant factors of major effects on landscape satisfaction of urban pedestrian road by using the multiple linear regression analysis. In conclusion, the landscape satisfaction factors and variables of urban pedestrian road need to be considered in plan or design the urban pedestrian road.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of the visual evaluation about Clothing form and the surface image of detail. This study consists of pre-experiment for selecting the method of expression among detail which shows difference of the image and main experiment for identifying the clothing image as clothing form and the suface image of detial. Main experiment is made of factorial design for three variables-clothing form (H-line, A-line, V-line, X-line), detail (frill, tape), direction (width, length). Questionaire consists of 24 semantic differential scale expressing clothing form and detail. The subjects were 100 female students majoring in clothing and textile.7he data were analyzed by Frequencey, Factor analysis, Anova, scheffe's test and MCA method. The major findings were; 1) The image of clothing form and the surface image of detail were composed of 5 factors; attractiveness, prettiness, attention, modern, young. 2) For the visual evaluation of clothing form as the surface image of detail, there were significant differences in prettiness and attention factors. For the pretty and attentive image, we should express by the image of frill. 3) For the visual evaluation of the image of detail as clothing forms variation, there were significant difference in prettiness by A-line and X-line. 4) For the effect of clothing form and the surface image of detail, main effect was significant in attractiveness, prettiness, attention, modern factor. For the pretty image of clothing, it will be expressed by the image of frill and A-line, X-line. For the attentive image of clothing, it will be expressed by the image of frill and V-line. For the modern image of clothing, it will be expressed by the image of tape and V-line.

The purpose of the present study were 1) to identify the dimensional structure of impression formed of a female figure, 2) to analyze effects of several elements of apparel design on impression formation of the figure in suit. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimuli and a response scale. The stimuli consisted of 60 drawings made by identical manipulations of 3 indepndent variables in 3 clothing styles(suit, dress and pants with blouse). The independent variables were (1) five clothing colors (red, blue, yellow, white and black), (2) two lengths(short/long) of suit skirt, dress, and pants (3) two types of blouse and dress collars (shirt collar/ribbon collar). The 7-point semantic differential response scale to measure the dependent variables (formed impressions of the female figure) was composed of 37 bipolar adjectives. Further- more, two open-ended questions were used for interpretation of the reponses. The study proceeded in three independent experimental part was based on the 3 clothing styles using a 5(color)$\times$2(length)$\times$2(collar) factorial design. Subject were 200 female undergraduate students reandomly assigned to one of 20 combinations in each part of the experiment. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, 3-way ANOVA and Multiple Classification Analysis. Five factors emerged to account for the dimensional structure of impression of the female figure in specific attire. These factors included three basic dimensions of impression identified as potency, activity and evaluation, confirming the results of previous studies. Result from open-ended questionaire supported the theoretical perspective of Schneider, Hastorf and Ellsworth on the procedure of impression formation.
Acording to the trend of highly increasing the public telephone, understanding consumer's design sensibility is based on designing consumer products reflecting user's identity and it comes out as a result of wore competitive products. For this study, consumer's desirous sensibility of the public telephone has been measured in checkable numbers. First of all, 35 sensible words are narrowed down from 168 whole sensible(adjective) words using the SD method. By this result, 7 scale form the SD method is applied to reserch on 10 current distributed products form 30 male and female university students. Element factor analysis is used to group the selected sensible words, duster analysis is used yo dassify them, and finally discriminant analysis is used to predict the relationship between design elements and the sensible words. As a result, words of human sensibility is known to divide into 3 factors; esthetics, functionality and safety, and the correlation of design factor is closely related with the the telephone's body, handset, dial board, dial button, ontrol button, color and material. To sum up, better public telephone design comes out from scientific and systematic consumer's desire analysis not designer's design technique.

Senescent effects are the gradual deterioration of function caused by biological aging. Senescent effects on color vision are not clearly understood even after considerable researches. Part of the reason is that the color vision is a complex phenomenon resulting from various factors such as organic systems, and the physical (neuro-optical) and the psychological (experiential) processes of color perception. We performed a field experiment on color perceptional differences due to aging vision. Our experiment was applied to two different groups in South Korea: an experimental group (46 subjects of over the age of 61 years) and a control group (49 subjects in their twenties). The experimental tools are comprised of (1) six gradual yellowing detector board (40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%); (2) pairs of vivid-strong, vivid-deep, grayish-deep, deep-dull, and bright-light tones of Blue (B) and Purple (P) colors; (3) Red (R), Yellow (Y), Green (G), Blue (B), and Purple (P) colors of dull-tones and pale-tones; and (4) a questionnaire on the semantic differential scales of the color images and color differences. A diagnosis system of gradual yellow vision, developed by the authors for this study, was adapted to generate the color detecting boards. The results are as follows. (1) There are significant differences between the two groups in detecting colors that simulate 40% and 50% of yellow vision. (2) As to the color difference detecting ability between similar tones, the experimental group shows difficulties in pairs of vivid-strong tones and deep-dull tones of the B color. And (3), the emotional responses to the dull tone and the pale tone are not stable in the red, the yellow, blue, and purple. Thus, we empirically demonstrate the specific differences in color perception between the old and young groups.

The purpose of this study is to investigate landscape image and define elements of difference in visual preference of bridges on the Han River. To do this end, video was used as a media for the evaluation of the landscape image of 16 bridges on the Han River using a Semantic Differential scale. Data is collected by 50 students from Woosuk University, majoring landscape architecture. Final analysis utilized a total of 704 samples of data. Data is analyzed through descriptive statistics, and spatial image is analyzed by factor analysis algorithm Principle component analysis using Varimax method is applied far extraction and factor rotation. T-test is used to find the difference between the bridge type of preference with the data of factor score. Logistic regression is used to select the factors that influences the visual preference among the image factors. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; The image of whole bridges on the Han River is somewhat orderly, sequential and open. The degree of visual preference of unique bridge type is higher than normal but there are some differences in visual preference within the same type of structure. This suggests that the surrounding landscape is one of the important factor for visual preference. Factors covering the image of bridge are found to be 'aesthetic', 'structure','spatial factor', and 'shape'. Total variance is obtained as 60.4%. The aesthetic variables are the most important factor for visual preference and the structural factor presents no significant difference in visual preference between more preferred and less preferred bridges. Since the collapse of Songsu Bridge, we thought the structural factor is very important but the results of this study suggest that it is more important to consider the aesthetic and spatial factors of the bridge to increase the visual preference when planning and designing bridges. Simulations with more detailed data about surroundings should be utilized practical design.

A study on the method of evaluation the urban amenity structure in Pusan city was established. Finally a survey sites out of 41 regions were selected on the basis of questionnaires : Taejong-dae and Haeun-dae as a seascape, Pumosa and Daesin-park as a mountain, Daechong-park and Seongjigok-park as a mixed, and Chungryulsa, Yongdoosan-park and U. N. Cemetry as a urban type. The abstracted results of amenity elements were revealed as natural environments including convex type as beach, reservoir, valley and mountain, and plant elements including woods and flower beds which raised amenity. The elements of social surroundings including children's playing, the aged's rest, and elements of structures including historic and memorial structures and high buildings. Amenity element made up of each space by region were abstracted from the Semantic Differential method. According to the factor analysis on the ground SD scale values, Kaiser's measure of sampling adequacy for 24 variables is 08602 and very high. Four factors including pleasantness, healthiness, convenience and safety showed 54.42 percent for total variance. By means of multiple regression, the model was as follows : Y=1.6636+0.3684X4+0.1955X11+0.1614X15-0.1688X23+0.1468X24. Therefore, Y:amenity, X4:beautiful-ugly, X11:clean-dirty, X15:creative-imitative, X23:cozy-dreary, X24:free-restrained. All variables in the model were significant at 0.001 level. According to the results of regression on satisfaction, the variables of satisfaction affecting amenity are the size of green space, the condition of management and the harmony with the surroundings. I think the considerating on the above could improve amenity of each region and further Pusan city.

The purpose of this study was to examine the evaluation of fabric characteristics on the drapability, texture image and preference of blouse fabrics, and to analyze the effects of the texture image, objective and subjective drapability on the preference. As specimen, silk and polyester fabrics were collected. 52 female subjects evaluated 16 specimens with semantic differential scale of 18 fabric image and 20 sensibility. Data were analyzed through factor analysis, pearson correlational coefficient using spss win 12.0. For the evaluation, structural characteristics such as fiber contents, weave type, weight and thickness were analyzed. The results were as follows: The evaluation results of objective and subjective drapability showed differences. Sensory image factors of blouse fabrics were 'surface smoothness', 'elasticity', 'weight' and 'flexibility'. Sensibility image factors were 'elegance', 'classic', 'characteristic' and 'mannish'. 'Elegance', 'classic' and 'characteristic' of sensibility images showed high correlation with 'surface smoothness' and 'elasticity' of sensory image, also 'mannish' of sensibility image showed significant correlation with 'weight' of sensory image. The significant fabric characteristics affecting objective drapability were density, weight, thickness. The significant texture image factors affecting objective drapability were 'weight', 'flexibility' of sensory image and 'elegance' of sensibility image. On the other hand, the significant factors affecting subjective drapability were thickness of fabric characteristics and 'elegance', 'characteristic', 'mannish' of sensibility images. 'Elegance', 'characteristic' and 'classic' of sensibility image, 'elasticity' of sensory image and subjective drapability affected on the purchase preference.
