  • Purpose: This study was undertaken to identify the association between CPR knowledge, attitude, and teacher efficacy on the performance confidence of CPR. We further investigated methods to enhance the performance ability of CPR among elementary, middle, and high school teachers. Methods: The study design was a descriptive survey conducted from October 15 to December 31, 2022, enrolling 155 elementary, middle, and high school teachers. The data were analyzed by applying Multiple regression, Pearson's correlation coefficient, one way ANOVA and Scheffé test using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. Results: The performance confidence of CPR among elementary, middle, and high school teachers showed a significant positive correlation with CPR knowledge (r=.49, p<.001), CPR attitude (r=.26, p<.001), and teacher efficacy (r=.25, p=.002). The factors affecting performance confidence in CPR were CPR knowledge (β=.49, p<.001), gender (β=-.26, p<.001), CPR attitude (β=.20, p=.003), health status (β=.14, p=.038), and teacher efficacy (β=.14, p=.032); these factors explained 40.5%. Conclusion: Results from the study indicate that performance confidence of CPR can be enhanced by providing frequent education on CPR knowledge and attitudes. Moreover, educational programs will aid in maintaining good health and enhance teacher efficacy.

  • This study conducted non-equality control post-design similar experimental study in order to investigate the effect of self-directed practice through self-reflection by using videos on the basic nursing performance ability, confidence in performance, learning self-efficacy, and practice satisfaction. The experimental group was 57 students and the control group was 56 students in the Department of Nursing in G region. The data was collected from April 1, 2017 to June 14, 2017. For analyzing data, the SPSS 22.0 program was used and the homogeneity test was analyzed with ${\chi}^2$ test, t-test, and Fisher's exact test. Also, independent-test was used. According to the result, all of the experimental groups including the basic nursing performance ability, confidence in performance, learning self-efficacy(t=15.304, p<.001), and practice satisfaction(t=15.304, p<.001) were improved and showed significant differences compared to the control group. As a result, it is predicted that the practice method has a positive effect on participating in self-study and it contributes to active participation by increasing learning motivation of learners. Thus, it is suggested to be applied to various practical training to improve basic nursing skills.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the factors influencing the competence in intensive and critical care nursing of senior nursing students. Methods: A descriptive survey was used to examine the factors that influence competence in intensive and critical care nursing. The data were collected using self-administered questionnaires; 237 senior nursing students were asked about general characteristics, critical thinking, communication competence, self-esteem, self-resilience, and self-leadership. Results: Multiple regression analysis indicated that self-leadership, self-esteem, and confidence in intensive care unit practice predicted the competence in intensive and critical care nursing (37.8% of explanatory power). Critical thinking, communication competence, and self-resilience were not shown to be significant predictors of, but were positively correlated with, the competence in intensive and critical care nursing. Conclusion: Based on the results, it is suggested that self-leadership, self-esteem, and confidence in intensive care unit practice should be considered in nursing education in order to improve nursing students' level of competence in intensive and critical care nursing.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the status and factors associated with self-management behavior (SMB) of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) in a border area of southwest China. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with T2DM patients in Dali, China. The participants filled in the questionnaires including demographic and disease-related characteristics, psychosocial status, resources of DM knowledge, knowledge of DM care, competency in DM care skills, the Chinese Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (C-DMSES), and the Chinese Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities (C-SDSCA). All the data were analyzed with SPSS version 26. Multiple linear regression analysis examined associations between predictors and SMB. Results: A total of 470 valid questionnaires have been collected. The score for overall SMB was 50.71± 11.99; 19.6% of patients were at a good level, 48.3% were moderate, and 32.1% were poor. The significant factors that influenced SMB included self-efficacy (β= 0.37; p< .001), competency in DM care skills (β= 0.22; p< .001) and lacked in the treatment confidence (β= -0.09; p= .023). Conclusion: The level of self-management among T2DM patients in this area was medium-low state. For future studies, our findings suggest that self-efficacy, competency in DM care skills, and treatment confidence should be considered essential factors in improving the self-management behavior of T2DM patients in the border area of southwest China.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of HMD-based virtual reality core nursing skills training on nursing students' knowledge, performance, self-confidence, self-efficacy, and problem-s olving ability. The study participants were 45 fourth-year nursing students from a university in A city. The participants were assigned to either the experimental group (n = 21) who received VR core nursing skills related to blood transfusion training or the control group (n = 24) who received traditional training using mannequins. After completing core nursing skill training, the experimental group and the control group performed simulations including blood transfusion. Data was collected from October 3 to October 28, 2022. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-tests. The results showed that after the intervention, the experimental group had significantly higher knowledge scores than the control group (t=-2.13, p=.039). The control group had significantly higher self-confidence in performance than the experimental group (t=2.63, p=.012). There were no significant differences in performance, self-efficacy, or problem-solving ability between the two groups. Therefore, VR-based core nursing skills training can be usefully utilized for nursing students to learn the knowledge and procedures before performing them in real life, and traditional core nursing skills training using mannequins can lead to an increase in nursing students' confidence in performing the skills.

We educated 12 fathers in multi-cultural families through the development of the program over 5 weeks to verify the effect of educational programs for fathers in multi-cultural families. The results showed the following : The level of father's self-esteem in multi-cultural family increased 124% and the level of parent self-confidence increased 141%. In conclusion, the educational effect for fathers in multi-cultural family exists and their desire for a successful multi-cultural family increased through the educational programs.

  • The purpose of this study was conducted to identify the effect of a disaster nursing convergence education program on disaster knowledge, preparedness, and self-confidence. A quasi-experimental was conducted using nonequivalent control group pretest posttest design. The subjects were senior grade nursing students who were in B metropolitan city. The education program was provided using disaster management, disaster nursing practice, disaster psychosocial support. The experimental group was participated on program 56 hours during 2 weeks, from June 26 to July 7, 2017. The experimental group showed significant differences in disaster nursing knowledge(F=81.41, p<.001), preparedness(F=110.62, p<.001) and self-confidence(t=7.27, p<.001). Therefore this convegence program could be a good extra-curriculum and it is necessary to develop more variable contents.
