A Multicarrier CDMA System Using Divided Spreading Sequence for Time and Frequency Diversity (시간 주파수 다이버시티를 위한 분할된 확산코드를 이용한 멀티캐리어 CDMA 시스템)

  • This paper proposes a new multicarrier code division multiple access (CDMA) system. The proposed multicarrier CDMA system provides the advantages that the transmission bandwidth is more efficiently utilized by using divided spreading sequence, time and frequency diversity is achieved in frequency selective nultipath (acting channel, and inter-carrier interference (ICI) can be minimized by using specific data and code pattern. In this system, transmitted data bits are serial-to-parallel converted to some parallel branches. On each branch each bit is direct-sequence spread-spectrum modulated by divided spreading sequences and transmitted using orthogonal carriers. The receiver providers a Rake for each carrier, and the outputs of Rakes are combined to get time and frequency diversity. This multicarrier CDMA system allows additional flexibility in the choice of system parameters. Upon varying system parameters, bit error rate (BER) performance is examined for the proposed multicarrier CDMA system. Simulation results show that the proposed multicarrier CDMA scheme can achieve better performance than the other types of conventional multicarrier CDMA systems.

Characteristics Analysis of the Time Selective Multipath Fading Channel Model for Mobile Communication (이동 통신을 위한 시간선택성 다중경로 페이딩 채널 모델의 특성 평가)

  • 본 논문에서는 시간 선택성 다중경로 이동 무선 채널을 다양한 방법으로 모델링 하고 그에 따른 여러 가지 특성평가를 제시하였다. 모델링 방법에는 Jakes 방식과 시간 영역에서 독립적인 두 개의 가우시안 잡음 발생기와 정형필터(shaping filter)를 사용하는 방식 및 주파수 영역에서 필터링 하는 방식이 있다. 이 세 가지 모델링 방법의 성능을 진폭의 자기상관함수, 상호상관함수, 누적분포함수(Cumulative Distribution Function), 레벨 교차율(Level Crossing Rate), 평균 페이딩 지속 시간(Average Duration of Fades), 위상차의 확률 밀도, 위상차의 자기상관함수 등의 측면에서 시뮬레이션하고 그 결과치와 이론치 간의 특성 비교를 제시하였다. 특히, 확산 대역 시스템을 고려했을 때 이상적인 채널 추정을 가정한 레이크 수신기에서의 BER 성능을 다중경로 개수에 따라 보임으로써 여러 가지 채널 모델링 중에서 주파수 영역에서 필터링 하는 방식이 이동 무선 채널을 모델링 하는데 있어 가장 적합하다는 것을 보였다. 마지막으로 비대칭 도플러(Doppler) 스펙트럼을 모델링 하는 것도 주파수 영역에서 필터링 하는 방식이 편리하다.

  • In this paper, we handle the estimation method of the received $E_{b}l1_{o}$ for forward closed-loop power control in cdma2000 systems. The estimation of MS-received $E_{b}l1_{o}$ utilizes the symbols related to the forward power control subchannel transmission. The estimation of the received bit energy and noise variance is analyzed for the frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channel. In order to improve SIR (signal-to-interference), the estimation of the received bit energy is made by the coherent combining of the rake-fingers and received I/Q symbols. And, in this paper, we evaluate the performance of forward closed-loop power control according to the mobile speed and the power adjustment step size in terms of the bit error rate (BER) and power control error. Simulation results present the optimal power adjustment step sizes according to the mobile speeds.

  • In this paper, we analyze CDMA systems using M-orthogonal spreading codes. We assume that each user one set of M-orthogonal spreading codes allocated randomaly. The effect of multiple access interference from the reference and adjacent cells is considered slowly frequency selective rayleigh fading channels. and the adjacent cells interference is considered toanalyze the system performance. We calculate bit error rate and the maximum number of users whoe can communicate simulaneously within a cell by suing Rake receiver. By comparing CDMA systemwhich transmits 1 bit/spreding code, our system shows bit error rate decreases as M increases under the same bandwidth and infromation rate.

  • This paper presents channel estimation of an asynchronous W-CDMA reverse link using the interpolation and moving average algorithm in frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channel. The proposed algorithm is an interpolated decision-directed (IDD) block-wise moving average (BWMA) algorithm. The IDD-BWMA algorithm performs two- stage processes. The first stage performs data decision to make a virtual pilot channel by using linear interpolation channel estimation scheme. Then, the second stage performs the channel estimation of the “block-wise moving average” type by using a virtual pilot channel obtained in the first stage. By using Monte-Carlo computer simulations, we show that the proposed channel estimator is superior to other estimation schemes such as the WMSA(K=1) and DD-RAKE at higher Doppler frequencies, especially.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of UWB MC-CDMA system and compareit with DS-CDMA and OFDM systems, which have been drafting in standardization even now. Too many Rake Fingers are needed in the DS-CDMA system to separate multi-path signals, which results in highsystem complexity. OFDM radio power fails to qualify for FCC certification unless frequency hopping. From this reason, MC-CDMA system considered is proposed in this paper. It has lower complexity compared with DS-CDMA and shows good performance against frequency selective fading. In addition, for a wide-band communication, less radio power per spectrum is allowed in the MC-CDMA system than in an OFDM system. Simulation result show that the DS-CDMA system has better performance with single user, but MC-CDMA system shows best performance in case of multi user environment.

  • This paper proposes an efficient scheme to estimate the channel parameters such as channel gain and delay for the IEEE802.15.4a LR-UWB systems. Sliding window (SW) method is generally used for the channel estimation of LR-UWB systems, which extracts the channel parameters by performing the cross-correlation with the repeatedly transmitted signal. However, the SW method experiences the severe performance degradation because the cross-correlation is performed just once for the received signal. In this paper, we propose a novel channel estimation scheme, which can achieve a great performance gain by performing the cross-correlation repeatedly with the repeated receive signal. In order to verify the performance gain of the proposed scheme, we performed the intensive simulation with the Saleh-Valenzuela channel model. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme has a performance improvement of 4dB compared to the conventional SW channel estimation scheme.

Capacity of synchronous DS-CDMA system on frequency selective multipath fading channels with imperfect power control (주파수 선택적 다중 경로 페이딩 채널에서 불완전 전력 제어를 고려한 동기식 DS-CDMA 시스템의 수용 용량)

  • In this paper, the bit error performance for the reverse link of a synchronous direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system employing an imperfect power control scheme over a frequency selective Rayleigh fading channel is analyzed. The system capacity degradation due to power control error (PCE), which is approximated by a log-normally distributed random variable, is estimate as a function of a standard deviation of the PCE. In addition, the impact of the multipath intensity profile (MIP) shape and the number of resolvable paths on the performance of the synchronous transmission is investigated. To estimate the system capacity, the coded bit error performance is evaluated and compared with the conventional CDMA. It is found tat synchronous transmission has less sensitivity to imperfect power control and eases the power control requirements. In particular, as the decay constant $\delta$ of MIP increases, the synchronous transmission in the DS-CDMA reverse link results in a significant BER improvement over the asynchronous transmission even in the presence of imperfect power control. We further conclude that the capacity can be improved by employing the synchronous transmission.

  • In this paper, we evaluated Ultra Wideband MC-CDMA system which is the combination of DS-CDMA and OFDM systems, which have been drafting in current standardization for IEEE802.15.3a. OFDM system fails to qualify for FCC certification unless frequency hopping is off. MC-CDMA has lower complexity compared to DS-CDMA and shows good performance against frequency selective fading. The MC-CDMA system is analyzed by a numerical formula and compared with DS-CDMA and OFDM by a computer simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose a new MLP based detector which has low circuit complexity and fast adaptation capability for CDMA downlink in frequency selective fading, and is easy for parameter optimization. The simplified structure of the proposed MLP is designed by making use of transmission characteristics of downlinks such that all users signals transmitted over same propagation paths and the number of channelization codes are limited. Significant performance improvement over Rake receiver can be obtained with the proposed MLP and the efficiency of the proposed MLP was compared with that of conventional MLP.
