Exploring Residential Segregation through Spatial Concentration Index - as a case of Seoul Metropolitan Area - (집중지표 기법을 활용한 수도권 주거지 분리에 대한 실증적 접근)

  • In order to solve the problem of how to estimate the residential segregation, the Spatial Concentration Index(SCI) and Location quotient(LQ) are able to be one of alternative methods, and a comprehensive analysis of the residential segregation phenomenon in the seoul metropolitan area is the aim of the study. The results of SCI show that residential concentration areas in low-rent are some Gyeonggi-do's downtown(Bucheon-si, Suwon-si) as well as rural and urban-rural complex outskirts of the metropolitan area. The results of changing of SCI from 2011 to 2014, downward changes appeared thirteen districts and upward changes appeared fourteen districts. Especially downward change district was Sosa-gu, Bucheon-si and upward change district was Yeongtong-gu, Suwon-si. In conclusion, that high rent level groups are more concentration on specific area than low rent level groups. By decreasing residential concentration districts in low-rent level group, 'diversity' districts have been increasing in seoul metropolitan but the phenomenon of residential concentration in high and low level group have been being intensified. These results could be confirmed by quantitative through LQ. Methodologically LQ would strengthen the explanatory power of SCI, and ongoing research of SCI in conjunction with other quantitative methods will need.

Erk AND RETINOIC ACID SIGNALING PARTICIPATE IN THE SEGREGATION AND PATTERNING OF FIRST ARCH DERIVED MAXILLA AND MANDIBLE (Erk와 retinoic acid의 제1인구둥 패터닝 조절)

  • In vertebrates, the face is mainly formed with neural crest derived neural crest cells by the inherent programs and the interactive environmental factors. Extracellular signaling-regulated kinase (Erk) is one of such programs to regulate the various cellular functions. And retinoic acid (RA) also plays an important role as a regulator in differentiation process at various stages of vertebrate embryogenesis. We wanted to know that the segregation as well as the patterning of maxillary and mandibular structure is greatly influenced by the maxillomandibular cleft (MMC) and the failure of this development may result in the maxillomandibular fusion (syngnathia) or other patterning related disorder. It has been well documented that the epithelium at this cleft region has significant expression of Fibroblast growth factor (Fgf) 8, and it is essential for the patterning of the first arch derived structures. By the morphological, skeletal, cell proliferation and apoptotic, and hybridization analysis, we checked the effects of Erk inhibition and/or RA activation onto MMC and could observe that Erk and RA signaling is individually and synergically involved in the facial patterning in terms of FGF signaling pathway via Barx-l. So RA and Erk signaling work together for the MMC patterning and the segregation of maxilla-mandible by controlling the Fgf-related signaling pathways. And the abnormality in MMC brought by aberrant Fgf signaling may result in the disturbances of maxillary-mandibular segregation.

Assessment of the Correlation between Segregation Potential and Hydraulic Conductivity with Fines Fraction (세립분 함유량에 따른 동상민감성 지수와 수리전도도의 상관관계 평가)

  • The cryosuction (negative pore pressure) in freezing soils causes groundwater migration from the frozen fringe to freezing front for ice lens formation. Frost heave and heaving pressure by ice lens cause damage to ground infrastructure. In order to prevent damage by the frost heave, various frost susceptibility criteria have been proposed. The SP (Segregation Potential) is the most widely used classification criterion for frost susceptibility in cold regions. The expansion of the ice lens by the migration of the groundwater is a key role in frost heave mechanism, and thus it is necessary to evaluate the hydraulic conductivity. In this paper, soil mixtures of coarse-fines (sand-silt) were prepared in various weight fractions and used for frost heave and column permeability test. For each case, the SP and the hydraulic conductivity were derived and correlations were analyzed. As a results, the transition threshold of the SP and the hydraulic conductivity were shown at 20% and 50% of the silt weight fraction, respectively. Although there are difference between these transition thresholds, these two coefficients show a specific correlation. In the future, additional study should be conducted for detailed analysis of the threshold transition values between SP and hydraulic conductivity.

Quality Characteristics of Bechamel Sauce with Different Ratios of Soy Milk to Milk (두유와 우유의 첨가비율에 따른 Bechamel Sauce의 품질 특성)

  • This study tested the development of bechamel sauce with different ratios of soy milk to milk(0:4, 1:3, 1:1, 3:1, 4:0) to examine changes in quality characteristics. Proximate composition analysis showed a decrease in salinity with increasing amounts of soy milk, while the moisture content and, density increases. The highest pH values were found for a 1:1 ratio of soy milk to milk (S2) and the lowest pH values were found for a 0:4 ratio of soy milk to milk (CON). The L-value decreased, while a and b values increased with increasing amounts of soy milk. In the stability test, segregation occurred in CON after 5 days, while the highest segregation occurred at a 4:0 ratio of soy milk to milk (S4). The sensory evaluation results showed that the color, thickness, savory flavor, and savory taste increased with increasing amounts of soy milk. In the acceptance test, a 1:3 ratio of soy milk to milk (S1) and a 1:1 ratio of soy milk to milk (S2) had the highest acceptance scores (p<0.001) for appearance, taste, texture, and overall acceptance.

  • In this thesis, we analyze performance related to reduction scheme of intercell interference causing serious problems in wiBro system. Frequency reusing factor(FUF) is 1 in WiBro system, and it means that a adjacent cell uses same frequency band. This channel environment raises intercell interference problem, which provokes serious problems related to system performance and channel capacity. Consequently, it affects deterioration in system performance as a whole.   • The surface segragation of NiZr, CuZr alloy has been studied wi th X-ray Imotoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), Auger electron spectroscopy(AES) and low energy ion scattering(LEIS). The composition of outmost atomic layer has been determinded by the use of LEIS at several incident energies using Ar+ ion. In the LEIS analysis, the effect of charge exchange has been estimated by a novel measurment of the charge exchange parameters while simul taneous determining the relative concentrations of Ni and Zr and the complementary information obtained will be described. The composition of the clean annealed surface, measured with AES only, will be contrasted wi th the surface concentration of the preferentially sputtered surface. The experimental results has been clearly demonstrated that when the NiZr ruld CuZr alloys are exposed to continuous Ar+ ion bombardment the outermost atomic layer is Zr rich due to preferential sputtering of Ni atoms. where Ni is preferentially sputtered, but the difference in sputtering yields is not sufficient to explain the observed composition. Therefore, it is necessary to consider other processes such as Radiation Induced Segregation(RIS). The surface composition of the heated sample surface predicts that Zr should surface segregate which futher supports the view that part of the Zr enrichment is due to RIS.to RIS.

  • Purpose: Residential differentiation is often considered to be one of the social problems that intensify urban inequality. The purpose of the study was to analyze the changes in the Gwangju urban landscape due to foreign inflows after reviewing the different frameworks about the causes of residential segregation and verifying compliance through case analysis. Method: This study analyzed the increase of Gwangju Foreign Population based on the data of the Statistics Korea and derived the concentrated areas of foreign population using GIS program. Then through the field research around the target areas, the changes of urban landscape by the foreign residents was analyzed. The foreign population in Korea recently surpassed 1.5 million is expected to increase further, and has already raised numerous social issues especially in urban area. Result: Therefore, basic and systematic analyses on foreign population and its impacts on urban residential landscape are necessary to resolve the issues. Since Gwangju is also in a similar situation, this research is first, to address the current situation and identify the problem, and then to suggest the directions for resolving them. It is also expected to be helpful provide a basic reference for related further researches.

A Study on the Space Analysis of Residential House Plans in Rural New-Town Development Area Using the Space Syntax (공간구문론을 이용한 농어촌 뉴타운 시범사업 지구내의 주택 평면 공간 분석)

  • The remarkable growth of city population and rate of urbanization are increasing every year rapidly in Korea. On the other hand young people are decreasing and old people are increasing in rural areas. So in 2009, the five Rural New-Town Development Areas were selected by the Ministry for Food, Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries. To provide data necessary for housing types and floor planning and development suitable for rural new-town development to be implemented constantly in rural areas all over the country later, this study used a space syntax program to analyze housing types and space structures within houses in five new-town development areas. After analyzing 33 floor plans for the five areas, there were few houses with separation of communal (integration space) and personal living spaces (segregation space). In particular, 82% had personal living spaces requiring protection of privacy, such as bedrooms and the toilet, classified into communal living spaces. Residential houses for rural new-town development targeting the young population valuing personal life and privacy, which failed to reflect city people's life properly, were expected to decrease residential satisfaction after occupancy.

Hardenability of Ductile Cast Iron (구상흑연주철의 경화능)

  • The hardenability of alloyed ductile cast irons was studied for 54 different alloy compositions obtained from eight commercial and laboratory foundries. The alloying elements investigated for their effects on hardenability were Si(2.0 to 3.0%), Mn(0.0 to 0.8%), Mo(0.0 to 0.6%), Cu(0.0 to 1.5%), and Ni(0.0 to 1.5%). Two hardenability criteria, a first-pearlite hardenability criterion and a half-hard hardenability criterion, were used to determine hardenability of ductile irons. Prediction models for each hardenability criterion were developed by multiple regression analysis and were well agreed with previous experimental results. Molybdenum was the most potent hardenability promoting element followed by manganese, copper and nickel ; silicon had little effect on hardenability and reduced the hardenability as silicon content increased. When alloying elements were presented in combination, strong synergistic effects on the hardenability were observed especially between molybdenum, copper and nickel. The hardenability of ductile iron was strongly influenced by austenitizing temperature. Increasing austenitizing temperature up to $955^{\circ}C$, hardenability increased gradually but decreasing rate and then decreased as temperature increased above $955^{\circ}C$. Unless reducing segregation by very long-time annealing treatment, the hardenability of ductile iron was not significantly influenced by segregation of alloying elements.

  • It was reported that the semi-solid forming process has many advantages over the conventional forming process, such as a long die life, good mechanical properties and energy savings. It is very important, however, to control liquid segregation to gain mechanical property improvement of materials. During forming process, rheology material has complex characteristics, thixotropic behavior. Also, difference of velocity between solid and liquid in the semi-solid state material makes a liquid segregation and specific stress variation. Therefore, it is difficult for a numerical simulation of the rheology process to be performed. General plastic or fluid dynamic analysis is not suitable for the behavior of rheology material. The behavior and stress of solid particle in the rheology material during forging process is affected by viscosity, temperature and solid fraction. In this study, compression experiments of aluminum alloy were performed under each other tool shape which is rectangle shape(square array), rectangle shape(hexagonal array), and free shape tool. In addition, the dynamics behavior compare with Okano equation to power law model which is viscosity equation.
