  • This research suggests a criterion, security quality, which is a unifying principle in computer network security that has the lack of a unifying principle. The security quality includes secrecy, integrity, recording, and availability among the factors that represent the security evaluation of the computer system. So, we defined the security quality, which is a basis for determining the security level, as the grand total of evaluation about each factor.

  • For reliability and confidentiality of information security systems, the security engineering methodologies are accepted in many organizations. To improve the effectiveness of security engineering, this paper suggests a security methodology ISEM, which considers both product assurance and production processes, takes advantages in terms of quality and cost. To verify the effectiveness of ISEM, this paper introduces the concepts of quality loss, and compares the development costs and quality losses between ISEM and CC through the development of VPN system.

A Study on the Quality Model and Metrics for Evaluating the Quality of Information Security Products (정보보호제품 품질평가를 위한 품질 모델 및 메트릭에 관한 연구)

  • While users of information security products require high-quality products that are secure and have high performance, there are neither examples for evaluating the quality of information security products nor studies on the quality model and metrics for the quality evaluation. In this paper, information security products are categorized into three different types and the security and performance of various information security products are analyzed. Through this process and after consideration of information security products' security and performance, a new quality model that possesses 7 characteristics and 24 sub-characteristics has been defined. In addition, metrics consisting of 62 common and 45 extended metrics that can be used to evaluate the quality of information security products are introduced, and a proposition for a method of generating the quality evaluation metrics for specific information security products is included. The method of generating metrics proposed in this paper can be extended in order to be applied to a variety of information security products, and by generating and verifying the quality evaluation metrics for firewall, intrusion detection systems and fingerprint systems it is shown that it applicable on a variety of information security products.

Effects of Electronic Security Service Quality Satisfaction and Customer Satisfaction on Switching Barrier and Customer Loyalty (기계경비 서비스품질만족과 고객만족이 전환장벽 및 고객충성도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of electronic security service quality satisfaction and customer satisfaction on switching barrier and customer loyalty. Survey questionnaires were distributed to business owners in Seoul that are using electronic security system and the total of 500 copies were used as research data except 60 copies with insufficient responses. The results are as follow. First, as for the effects of electronic security service quality satisfaction on electronic security customer satisfaction, it indicates that the higher electronic security service quality satisfaction achieves, the more it has positive effects on electronic security customer satisfaction. Second, as for the effects of electronic security service quality satisfaction on switching cost, it indicates that the higher electronic security service quality satisfaction achieves, the more it has positive effects on switching cost. As for the effects of electronic security service quality satisfaction on human relations, it indicates that the higher electronic security service quality satisfaction achieves, the more it has positive effects on human relations. It indicates that the effects of electronic security service quality satisfaction on alternative attraction was not meaningful. Third, as for the effects of electronic security customer satisfaction on switching cost, it indicates that the higher electronic security customer satisfaction achieves, the more it has positive effects on switching cost. As for the effects of electronic security customer satisfaction on human relations, it indicates that the higher electronic security customer satisfaction achieves, the more it has positive effects on human relations. But, it indicates that the effects of electronic security customer satisfaction on alternative attraction was not meaningful. Fourth, As for the effects of electronic security service quality satisfaction and electronic security customer satisfaction on customer loyalty, it indicates that the higher electronic security service quality satisfaction achieves, the more it has positive effects on customer loyalty. As for the effects of switching cost on customer loyalty, it indicates that the higher switching cost achieves, the more it has positive effects on customer loyalty. As for the effects of alternative attraction on customer loyalty, it indicates that there is no meaningful relation between alternative attraction and customer loyalty. But, effects of human relations on customer loyalty, it indicates that there is no meaningful relation between human relations and customer loyalty. Based on the above results, it is noticeable that in the effects of electronic security service quality satisfaction and electronic security customer satisfaction on switching barrier, all of them had meaningful effects except for alternative attractiveness. This signifies that switching barrier factor can increase when the service quality of electronic security and customer satisfaction increase. In other words, it can be said that increased awareness of electronic security service quality satisfaction and electronic security customer satisfaction by electronic security users can lead to high customer loyalty by establishing switching barrier through such increased awareness.

  • Purpose: This study proposes methods and procedures for evaluating imaging security systems quality of cabinet x-ray screening system to enhance performance certification technology. Also, conducted a comparative analysis of the literature of test-kit for imaging security quality evaluation. Methods: Comparative analysis of the test-kits and related documents for image quality assessment of cabinet x-ray screening equipment. This allows assessment items were selected and the methods for each assessment item were proposed. In addition, the configuration method of the assessment team was established by applying the technology readiness assessment(TRA). Results: Four of the assessment items were selected when estimate image quality by a comparative analysis of literature. For each assessment item, the evaluation method and minimum level of availability were determined. Finally, this paper proposes an imaging quality assessment of cabinet X-ray imaging security systems. Conclusion: Development of imaging security systems evaluation procedures for cabinet X-ray screening systems can be help improve performance certification of aviation security equipment.

  • This study has been conducted to provide data that contribute to increasing efficiency of 'Private Security', which is cooperated by customer, security companies and the police which carried out 'Public Law Enforcement' and controls security companies. To reach this purpose, we investigated the status of the 'Security Alarm Systems' operated by security service companied in Korea, analyzed arising problems, considered the polices for improving the operational quality. 'Electronic Security Systems' will increase working efficiency in performing 'Private Security'. There can be no two opinions on this matter. Therefore, it can be supposed that the improvement of operational quality of 'Electronic Security System' is an important factor to accomplish security services. 'Security Alarm System' is one of the 'Electronic Security System'. The critical problems in operating 'Security Alarm system' are unnecessary response by false alarm and nuisance alarm. To reduce the problems, it is suggested that security specialist officially licensed should improve security planning, installation and maintenance, and the 'Alarm Verification System' should be introduced with appropriate facilities.

  • The concern of personal and social security has been increased all over the world with each passing day by the international terrorism and the domestic crime of violence grew gradually in the late of 70's and the early of 80's. The Security-Guard Industry, especially, has been growing rapidly by the starting from the 911 terror in 2001, therefore there has been increasing the supply and demand of Security Service in Korea explosively by the reasons, Actually, the Facilities Security Service is increased actively more than the VIP security Service among them. So, most of the Security-Guard Companies in Korea also have treated the Facilities Security Service at present. Although the importance of quality at the Facilities Security Service, especially mechanical equipments and systems, is on the rise, actually the studies about relations with the Service Quality and the Client's Satisfaction are quite insufficient at the field of Security-Guard Science study in the actual situation. As a result, the purposes of this study are to contribute for composing the knowledge of Security-Guard Science and to offer the basic data for elevating the Service Quality and Client's Satisfaction by consulting other studies. In order to achieve the purposes of this study, we compare and analyze how the Service Quality have affect on the difference of Client's Satisfaction by the client's characteristic of sociology and demography, then we find out the effect to the Service Quality for Client's Satisfaction, finally we try to show the vision of the Security-Guard Company's future in Korea. 1.   • In the era of the internet and ubiquitous computing, IS users are still facing a variety of threats. Therefore, a need of more tightened information security service increases unprecedentedly. In this sense, this study is aimed at proposing a new research model in which IT assets (i.e., network, system, and information influence) Security and Information Security Service (i.e., confidentiality, integrity, nonrepudiation, authentication) affect information security quality positively, leading to users' satisfaction eventually. To prove the validity of the proposed research model, PLS analysis is applied with valid 177 questionnaires. Results reveal that both IT assets Security and Information Security Service influence informations security qualify positively, and user satisfaction as well. From the results, it can be concluded that Korean government's recent orchestrated efforts to boost the IT assets Security and Information Security Service helped great improve the information security quality and user satisfaction.

  • According to ISO/IEC 9000, quality to satisfy users' requirements when using the product or service is defined as the characteristics of the synthesized concept. Secure web application coding information systems with the reliability and quality of service is one of the determining factor. Secure coding in order to achieve the quality based on the model is necessary. The reason is that the security is in quality properties in the range of non-functional requirements that necessitates. Secure coding for the design of quality systems based on the quality of the definition of quality attributes, quality requirements, quality attribute scenarios are defined, and must be set. To this end, referring to IEEE 1061 quality model for web application, quality model structure is developed. Secure web application architecture design is composed of coding quality of the model systems, web applications draw interest to stakeholders, decision drivers secure coding architecture, quality attributes, eliciting quality requirements of the security settings, creating web application architecture descriptions and security framework.

  • ESM(Enterprise Security Management) is representing domestic security management, and there is requirement to enhance it. This paper will evaluate quality of ESM products, understand its quality level, and derive method to improvement so as to develop security evaluation model and test methodology which can support quality enhancement. In addition, it presented the performance test cases and evaluation method to measure product's security quality, and to perform research on the judgement method for the results based on appropriate criteria. Developed quality evaluation model is expected perform important role in evaluating and enhancing the quality of intrusion prevention system.
