Relationships between Teaching Professional Rank, Course Taking, Teaching Experience and Knowledge of Algebra for Teaching

  • In this study, we examined the relationships among years of teaching experience, professional rank, number of courses taken, and knowledge of algebra for teaching (KAT). 338 in-service and 376 pre-service secondary mathematics teachers in China completed a KAT questionnaire. Various statistical techniques were employed to examine these relationships. The pre-service participants teachers performed statistically significantly higher in advanced mathematics knowledge than their in-service counterparts. Among the inservice teachers, senior teachers had scored higher in school mathematics and teaching mathematics, compared with junior teachers. Yet participants' advanced mathematics knowledge decreased as their professional rank advanced or their teaching experience increased. The number of courses taken has significantly positive correlation with school mathematics knowledge and advanced mathematics knowledge. The implications of these findings for mathematics teacher education are discussed.

중학교 수학교과서에 제시된 각 개념 제시 양상 (The concept of the angle presented in the middle school mathematics textbooks)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 중학교 수학교과서에 제시된 각 개념 도입 및 전개 양상을 살펴보고, 이를 토대로 수학교과서의 집필 방향 및 각 지도를 위한 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 1차부터 2015 개정 교육과정까지 중학교 1학년 수학교과서 57권을 수집하여 각 및 각 주변 개념들의 표현 방식을 분석하였고, 그것을 바탕으로 결론을 도출하였다. 분석 결과, 중학교 교과서에서는 각을 제시할 때 초등학교와 달리 각의 회전 관점 및 동적 관점을 추가하여 다면적으로 접근하고 있으며, 각의 기술적 정의는 2009개정 교육과정 이후로는 기호 사용을 제외하고 대체로 초등학교 교과서와 일치하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Number concept is basic in mathematics education. But it is very complex and is not easy to understand real number concept, because of its infinity. This study tried to show that what percents of secondary school mathematics teachers in Korea understood the properties of real number, such as cardinality, continuity, relation with real line, and infinity, which were written by verbal language.

예비중등교사의 수학화 경험을 위한 교수단원의 설계: 수 분할 모델의 탐구 (A design of teaching units for experiencing mathematising of secondary pre-service teachers: Inquiry into number partition models)

  • 본 연구에서는 예비중등교사의 수학화 경험을 위해, 초보적인 상황의 문제를 기반으로 수를 분할하는 문제로 일반화하여, 수의 분할에 관한 일련의 문제 및 상황을 제공하는데 적절한 수 분할 모델을 고안하고, 그것을 탐구하는 교수단원 <분할 모델의 탐구>를 Wittmann의 교수단원 사상에 따라 설계한다. 이 연구에서 설계하는 <분할 모델의 탐구>는 (1) 실마리 문제 (2) 분할 관점에서의 통합 (3) 분할 모델의 정의 (4) 분할 모델을 활용한 탐구의 네 단계로 이루어진다. 이 교수단원이 예비중등수학 교사교육에 기여할 수 있는 바는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예비교사들로 하여금 수학화를 경험할 수 있게 해준다. 둘째, 예비교사들로 하여금 학교수학과 학문수학의 연결을 볼 수 있게 한다. 셋째, 에비교사들의 수학적 창의력을 기르는데 도움이 될 수 있다.

제7차 수학과 교육과정의 교육내용 적정성에 관한 학생 의견 조사 연구 (The Study on the Students' Opinion about the Content Relevance in the 7th Mathematics Curriculum)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the current state of the contents of the mathematics education that are implemented for 3-10 grade students in Korea. To satisfy the purpose of the study, we conducted a nationwide questionnaire to get opinions from students on the relevance of the mathematics curriculum. 4,158 elementary school students, 4,571 middle school students, and 1,653 high school students participated in this survey. Many students feel that the quantity is relevant, so the requirement of reduction in quantity is a little. Also secondary students feel that mathematics is difficult and this condition becomes more serious in proportion as grade. Finally we noticed the difference between sexes, grades, and tracks of studying in every question.

피타고라스 정리의 지도에 대한 남북한 비교 (Comparative Study on Teaching of Pythagorean Theorem in South and North Korea)

  • Researchers have started to conduct comparative studies of mathematics education in South and North Korea. Most of these studies have a tendency to compare with the curriculum of South and North Korea in the macroscopic standpoint. But microscopic comparative studies on each topic of school mathematics have not been attempted yet. Microscopic studies as well as macroscopic studies are required to prepare for unification the curriculum of South and North Korea. This paper attempts to compare the contents related pythagorean theorem which is dealt with in secondary school mathematics textbook of South and North Korea. Through this study, meaningful differences between textbooks are founded and some implications are obtained. Specially, 'cutting off and rearranging' method needs to be taken into consideration for active learning. Also the construction of the figure using the pythagorean theorem needs to be dealt with in order to develop the logical thinking.

수학과 중등임용 확률과 통계학 기출문항 분석 (An Analysis on the Past Items of Probability and statistics in Secondary School Mathematics Teacher Certification Examination)

  • 본 연구에서는 최근 4개년(2014~2017학년도)의 수학교과내용학 기출문항 가운데 확률과 통계학 문항을 분석 대상 문항으로 분류하고, 수학과 임용시험 문항 분석틀을 기반으로 분류된 문항을 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 확률과 통계학 교육과정의 정상화를 유도하기 위하여 4개 평가영역이 고르게 출제되어야 한다. 둘째, 통합적 사고, 종합 분석적인 사고 평가가 이루어져야 한다. 셋째, 수학적 사고력과 논리적 역량을 측정할 수 있는 문항 발문이 사용되어야 한다. 넷째, 문항 수에 의한 출제 비율은 7.7%~10.0%이고, 배점에 따른 비율은 이 보다 낮은 5.0%~7.5% 사이로 출제되었다. 다섯째, 적정난이도 안정화 정책을 유지하고 있다. 여섯째, 확률과 통계학은 귀납적 관점의 문제해결력 측정을 해야 한다는 결론과 시사점을 얻었다.

수학교사의 전문성 개발영역 관련 연구 동향 분석 (Research trends on the aspect of professional development of mathematics teachers)

  • This study aims to investigate research trends relevant to mathematics teachers and discuss implications on professional development of mathematics teachers. For the purpose of this study, we review 156 articles written between 2006 and 2015 related to mathematics teachers. The articles are analyzed using the model of professional growth suggested by Goldsmith, Doerr, Lewis(2014). The model discusses personal domain, external domain, domain of practice, and domain of consequence. In the results of this study, articles focusing on the personal domain of mathematics teachers appear a lot in reviewed ones, whereas studies relevant to external domain or domain of practice of mathematics teachers are relatively small.

편수 자료 이전의 수학 용어에 대해 (On the Mathematical Terminology before the First Editing Material)

  • At present, most of school mathematical terms in elementary and secondary curriculums of Korea are Sino-Korean words. 1964 Mathematical Editing Material, which aimed to unify mathematical terms into mainly Sino-Korean words, was considered a key factor for this situation. 1964 Editing Material depended heavily on 1956 Mathematical Terminology, which contains a lot of Korean native words and displays the school mathematical terms after 1945. There are many Korean native words in the Second Mathematical Curriculum. This shows that Korean native words of mathematics had been consolidated to some extent at that time. In North Korea, a lot of Korean native words are still used in mathematics. Some Sino-Korean words were recently changed to Korean native words in South Korea. 1956 Mathematical Terminology tells the method to make Korean native words of mathematics and will be an excellent guide for making Korean native words.

GeoGebra를 활용한 각등변형습유(各等邊形拾遺)의 일반화 (Generalization of 'Gakdeungbyeonhyeongseupyu' by utilizing GeoGebra)

  • To introduce materials related to our traditional mathematics and to reinterpret modernly them could be a good tool to find the cultural values of them. We analyzed the degree for utilization of the history of mathematics in the middle school textbooks developed depending on the 2009 revised mathematics curriculum. Through this, we suggest the need for research on concrete and practical teaching and learning materials development utilizing the history of mathematics. We reinterpret, in modern style based on the curriculum, two subjects dealt with in 'GakDeungByeonHyeongSeupYu', the first theme of 'SanSulGwanGyeon' written by Lee Sang Hyuk. We expansively reconstruct the original samples up to regular decagon so that students might figure out the situation of all regular polygon using a kind of mathematics software GeoGebra. Also this process is constructed on the basis of the curriculum for an implementation the secondary school classes.
