Body Weight Control Behavior and Obesity Stress of College Women (여대생의 체중조절행위와 비만스트레스)

  • This study was conducted to investigate weight control behavior and obesity stress of college women. The data were collected from September 7 to September 13 of 2013 and the subjects were 213 college women in C city of Gyoung-nam Province. The data were analyzed by SPSS 20.0 program using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test. The score of obesity stress was moderate(18.26±5.66). The level of obesity stress was affected by various general characteristics and weight control behavior characteristics including economic status(F=3.99, p=0.020), figure recognition(F=14.41, p<.001), satisfaction of body figure(F=15.88, p<.001), interest of weight control(F=4.82, p=.001), control of food amount(F=2.41, p=.050), body figure compulsion(F=24.06, p<.001), experience of dieting (F=6.04, p<.001), sleeping hours(t=2.10, p=.036), desired losing weight (F=10.47, p<.001). Therefore, it is necessary to be considered these variables during development of body weight control programs for college women.

  • The recent software education in middle schools is focused on physical computing, unplugged learning and pilot training. However, they are struggling in many ways, including cost, inducement of interest, motivation, and concentration. Also, the lack of systematic classroom design could make negative effect to students' understanding of classes or academic performance. In this paper, we intend to study the method of algorithm education using Chatbot system, which will increase efficiency of software education, with less burdensome in terms of cost, and also could be able to used as an assist tool in various classes. In class scenarios that require the understanding of coding mechanisms such as function application, algorithm design, and program coding, students can learn by themselves through the Chatbot system, which has a positive effect on student learning.

Change of Perception after Weight Management Management Education among some Elementary , Middle and High Sehool Students in Seoul (서울 지역 일부 초 , 중 , 고 학생들의 다이어트 교육 실시에 따른 인식 변화에 관한 조사)

  • To investigate the change of perception after weight management education in elementary, middle and high school students, a survey was conducted. Same questionnaire was administered twice, before and after weight management education, to 426 students at 9 schools in Seoul area. The mean height, weight and body mass index were 145.5±8.0cm, 40.0±8.3kg, 18.6±3.0 for elementary school students, 160.1±5.2cm, 50.2±7.3kg, 19.5±2.4 for middle school students, and 162.2±5.0cm, 52.2±6.4kg, 19.8±2.3 for high school students, respectively. Before education, their preferred weight and perceived healthy weight was 35.4kg and 37.0kg among elementary school students, 44.8kg and 46.5kg among middle school students, and 47.3kg and 48.9kg among high school students, respectively. Differences between their present body weight and their preferred weight and/or perceived healthy weight appeared to be 4.5kg and 2.9kg in elementary school students, 5.6kg and 4.0kg in middle school students, and 5.1kg and 3.3kg in high school students, respectively. After administering education, the differences decreased to 2.5kg and -0.2kg in elementary school students, 4.2kg and 2.7kg in middle school students, and 4.3kg and 2.0kg in high school students, respectively (p<0.01). And their perception on own body shape was investigated using 5 point scale ('too lean' to 'too fat', 1 to 5) before and after education. The mean values changed from 3.1 to 2.8 in elementary school students, from 3.3 to 3.0 in middle school students, and from 3.4 to 3.2 in high school students (p<0.01). Their satisfaction with own body weight was monitored using 5 point scale ('very satisfied' to 'very unsatisfied', 1 to 5), also. The mean values changed from 3.0 to 2.7 in elementary school students, from 3.6 to 3.2, in middle school students, and from 3.8 to 3.4 in high school students (p<0.01). In the evaluation of their nutrition knowledge about weight control using 10 item quiz, before and after education, the mean quiz score was changed from 6.3 to 7.0 in elementary school students, from 7.0 to 7.9 in middle school students, and from 7.5 to 8.1 in high school students (p<0.01). In summary, nutrition education on weight management improved the subject's perception on perceived healthy weight and own body shape, and satisfaction with present body weight. This result suggests that nutrition education program should incorporate strategies to change incorrect beliefs and knowledge regarding weight control. Onto this, weight control education for students should start from their early age, be repeated periodically and consistently, and focus on the harmful effects of excessive weight loss and information on the practical and scientific ways of weight management.

  • The purpose of this study is to segment recreational forest's visitors for marketing based on purpose of visit. Using the factor analysis, cluster analysis, cross tab, and t-test to find out different behavioral intention in each clusters, the result elicited some implications. First, 2 clusters was founded and has difference in behavioral intentions. Cluster 1(married, 200~300hundred won income) has higher satisfaction, revisit intention, recommendation intention. The result shows that market researcher in recreational forest should approach different marketing strategy and has various facility, active program. This research need to survey broad region to generalized result.

The Convergence Influence of Life Stress, Depression and Ego Resiliency on College Life Adaptation in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 생활스트레스, 우울, 자아탄력성이 대학생활적응에 미치는 융복합적 연구)

  • This study investigates convergent influence on college life adaptation and its association with life stress, depression and ego resiliency among of nursing students. The data of life stress, depression and ego resiliency on college life adaptation was collected for the nursing students of G city from Dec. 5th 2015 to Feb. 8th 2016. There was a significant difference in life stress, college life adaptation according to club experience and grade level, depression according to best friend and ego resiliency according to satisfaction with major. Adaptation to college life was negatively correlated with life stress and it was positively correlated with ego resiliency. Life stress and ego resiliency is a significant predictor of college life adaptation in nursing students. Their explanatory power was 32.9%. In order to help nursing college students to adapt to college life well, it will be necessary to provide the intervention to decrease the degree of life stress and to the improvement convergence program on ego resiliency.

A Convergence Study on Working Conditions and Health related Factors Influencing Well-being in Door to Door Deliverers (국내 택배원의 안녕에 영향을 미치는 근로환경과 건강관련 요인에 관한 융합 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was conducted to investigate the relationship among working conditions, health status and well-being of door to door deliverers as well as to identify the factors influencing well-being. Study participants of 248 door to door deliverers were collected from the 2014 Korean Working Conditions Survey. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 24.0 statistical program. As a results, the factors influencing well-being of door to door deliverers were musculoskeletal work-related risk, working condition satisfaction, work life balance, and subjective health status and these variables explained 23.9% of well-being. Based on these findings, programs that develop working condition and health status are necessary for door to door deliverers to well-being.

  • Purpose : This study was done to identify the relationship among Self-esteem, Nursing professional values, Organizational commitment in a diploma nursing students. Method : A descriptive research design was used in this study. The participants were 287 nursing students in J city who were surveyed between May 23 and May 27, 2015. The data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 17.0 Program, which determined frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson correlation coefficient and Stepwise multiple regression analysis. Result : The nursing students investigated a mean of 4.07 and 3.93 on self-esteem and Nursing professional values respectively. They attained a mean of 3.75 on organizational commitment. There were positive correlation between self-esteem, nursing professional values and organizational commitment for nursing students. Two factors explained 47.2% of organizational commitment of nursing students. Conclusion : It is necessary to enhance positive organizational commitment to improve Self-esteem and Nursing professional values in clinical practice of nursing students. Also,

Development of a Problem-Based Learning Module for Preschoolers' Growth & Development (학령전기 아동 성장발달의 PBL 모듈 개발)

  • Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is a student-centered pedagogy that integrates nursing knowledge, skills, and attitudes into clinical nursing practice. This pilot aims to apply a PBL module on preschoolers' growth and development in the nursing curriculum. This quantitative study was performed to develop a PBL module following Dick and Carye's program development process (planning, development, application, and evaluation phases), and to evaluate its effects using structured questionnaires among sophomore nursing students. These students formed teams of four or five people each and spent 40 minutes participating in the PBL module. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, and content analysis. Metacognition level increased significantly. There was no significant difference in team efficacy between pre-test and post-test. Post-test learning satisfaction was high. Students reported obtaining knowledge and problem-solving ability with respect to preschoolers' growth and development and were satisfied with teamwork. This finding offers fundamental knowledge concerning the application of a PBL module in nursing curricula.

Predictors and Frailty Level in the Frail Elderly Receiving Home Visiting Health Care Services (방문건강관리사업 대상 재가노인의 허약정도와 예측요인)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify the predictors and frailty level in the frail elderly receiving home visiting health care services. Methods: The subjects were 177 frail elders aged over 65 registered in the home visiting health care services of three public health centers in Daegu. The data collection was performed from June 9 to June 24, 2015. This study used descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, scheffe test and stepwise multiple regression by SPSS Win 18.0 program. Results: The mean of the frailty score was 10.05 (±4.52). Age and life satisfaction were the significant factors related to the frailty score in frail elderly. Health promotion behavior, empowerment, social participation and perceived health status had a negative correlation with the frailty score. Thirty seven point four percent of the variance in the frailty score can be explained by perceived health status (β=0.398, p<0.001), health promotion behavior (β=0.251, p<0.001) and age (β=0.232, p<0.001)(Cum R2=0.374, F=25.744, p<0.001). Perceived health status was the most important factor related to the frailty score in our study. Conclusions: An integrative care program which includes these significant variables of subjects is essential to prevent the deterioration of frailty in frail elderly.

The Effects of Social support, Self-efficacy and Perceived health status on Aging anxiety of the Middle-aged women (중년여성의 사회적지지, 자기효능감, 지각된 건강상태가 노화불안에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the effects of middle-aged women's social support, self-efficacy, and perceived health status on aging anxiety. Methods: Research subjects were 210 middle-aged women between 40 - 60 years living in G-city. Data were collected from July 21st 2014 to August 8th using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using t-test, One way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: Aging anxiety showed statistically significant differences in religion (t=2.44, p=.015), satisfaction with married life (F=4.39, p=.014), type of leisure activity (F=8.09, p<.001), and number of friends (F=3.23, p=.024). Aging anxiety showed correlation with social support (r=-.21, p=.003), self-efficacy (r=-.46, p<.001), and perceived health status (r=-.33, p<.001). Factors affecting aging anxiety were self-efficacy (β=.33, p<.001), perceived health status (β=.23, p<.001), leisure activity type (β=.16, p=.010), and religious affiliation (β=.17, p=.038). The predictive power of these variables was 25% (F=18.63, p<.001). Conclusion: Nursing intervention strategies for improving self-efficacy, perceived health status, and leisure activity are required to relieve aging anxiety of middle-aged women.
