The initial thermal analysis needs to be fast and efficient to reduce the feedback time for the optimal electronic equipment designing. In this study, a thermal model is developed by using power consumption measurement values of each functional breadboard, that is, semi-empirical power dissipation method. In modeling heat dissipated EEE parts, power dissipation is imposed evenly on the EEE part footprint area which is projected to the printed circuit board, and is called surface heat model. The application of these methods is performed in the development of a command and telemetry unit (CTU) for a geostationary satellite. Finally, the thermal cycling test is performed to verify the applied thermal analysis methods.
This paper suggests power optimization technique in multi-level SCPC system as a method for efficient utilization of limited satellite power. The power optimization is realized by optimal assignment of satellite input carrier powers considering interference and noise generated in up-link and down-link. The Fletcher-Powell algorithm searching minimum(or maximum) point using gradient information is used to detemine the optimal input carrier powers. To apply Flectcher-Powell algorithm mathematical descriptions and their partial derivatives to interference and nose are presented. Because a target, which should be optimized, is satellite input carrier power, amplitude of each carrier group will be assumed to be an independent variable. The performance criterion for optimal power assignmentis classified into 4 categories with respect to CNR of destination receiver earth station to meet the requirement for various satellite link environment. Simulation results for two-level, four-level and six-level SCPC system are presented.
Satellite Technology Research Center(SaTReC) of Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(KAIST) has started a collaborative research, development, and training program in the field of space technology. As the result of that, SaTReC has successfully developed and operated the KISTAT-1, which is the first Korean satellite system. From the experience gained. SaTReC has developed the KITSAT-2 with its own technology and man-power and acquired the capability to design and to manufacture small satellite systems. In this paper, an overview of KITSAT-1/2 microsatellite systems and operational results are introduced.

In this paper, in order to increase system capacity and reduce the transmitting power of the user's equipment, we propose an efficient power estimation consisting of a modified open-loop power control (OLPC) and closed-loop power control (CLPC) schemes for mobile/satellite communications systems. The OLPC works well if the forward and reverse links are perfectly correlated and the CLPC is sensitive to round-trip delay (RTD). Therefore, it is not effective in mobile/satellite system. In order to solve the above problem, we added monitoring equipment to both the OLPC and CLPC to use information about transmitting power that has not yet been received by the receiver over the satellite/ATC channel. Moreover, we adapted an efficient pilot diversity of both OLPC and CLPC in order to get a better signal to interference plus noise ratio (SIR) estimation of the received signal.
Green communication is a new paradigm of designing the communication system which considers not only the processing performance but also the energy efficiency. Power control management is one of the approaches in green communication to reduce the power consumption in distributed communication system. In this paper, we propose improved power control schemes for mobile satellite systems with ancillary terrestrial components (ATCs). Navigation satellite systems (GPS, GLONASS etc.) provide three main services, i.e., positioning for location based services, navigation for multi-modal transportation services, and timing for communication and critical infrastructure services. They were started as military systems but were extended to civil service. Navigation satellite navigation system began with GPS in the USA and GLONASS in Russia at nearly the same time. Indian NavIC and Chines BDS announced their FOCs in 2016 and 2020, respectively and European Galileo and Japanese QZSS are catching up others. In these days, Navigation Satellite System, Positioning, Navigation, and Timing services are part of our daily life very closely. They are required for autonomous driving car, Unmanned vehicles like UAV, UGV, and UMV, 5G/6G telecommunications, world financial system, power system, survey, agriculture, and so on. The services among navigation satellite systems are very competitive and also cooperative one another. This article describes the status of these systems and evolution in the technical and service senses, which may be helpful for planning korea positioning system(KPS).
The energy balance in a satellite needs to be designed properly for the satellite to safely operate and carry out successive missions on an orbit. In this study, an analysis program was developed using the MATLAB(R) graphic user interface (GUI) for nanosatellites. This program was used in a simulation to confirm the generated power, consumed power, and battery power in the satellites on the orbit, and its performance was verified with applying different satellite operational modes and units. For data transmission, STK(R)-MATLAB(R) connectivity was used to send the generated power from STK(R) to MATLAB(R) automatically. Moreover, this program is general-purpose; therefore, it can be applied to nanosatellites that have missions or shapes that are different from those of the satellites in this study. This power simulation tool could be used not only to calculate the suitable power budget when developing the power systems, but also to analyze the remaining energy balance in the satellites.
In data transmission at the digital satellite broadcasting systems, the delay and spread are caused whit receiving original signals from the transmitter in the receiver. So, there are some problems in data fast transmission. Also, transmitted signals ate received in stale of the combination of transmission delay and noise of channel. The affect of channel noise is reduced when increasing transmission power, but as signal interference due to the transmission delay and spread of channel increase in proportion to the transmission power, there is a problem in spite of increasing the transmission power. And there is the problem to add ISI(inter symbol interference) because the property of the channel is limo-varying due to relative moving in the transceiver Therefore, in this paper, a pulse shaping filter for the high-speed service in digital satellite broadcasting systems was designed and reduced the ISI.
