  • This study was conducted to develop the long-tenn storage method to minimize the black spot occurred on the surface of persimmons stored in the films at low temperature. The storage experiments were done with different films and persimmon varieties at $0^{\circ}C$ storage condition for 5 months, and then the physical and chemical characteristics of persimmons were tested monthly. The results were as follows : 1. The film 160 made from zeolites showed highest performance in well storings sweet persimmons for 5 months, compared with other films by eyesight. The initial moisture condensation inside the films seemed to cause the black spots on persimmons, and the effect of the film holes was never significant to prevent the black spots. 2. The sugar content was ranged from $14^{\circ}Brix$ to $15^{\circ}Brix$ regardless of film types and persimmom varieties, and it changed little for storage of 5 months. 3. The decrease rate of persimmom weight in the film 160 and 180 was 0.3% for storage of 5 months, while those in other films reached to 2%. The decrease rate of persimmon weight was least in the film 160 and 180. 4. The hardness of Fuyu least decreased in the films 160 and 380. It was changed from 36 kg/cnf to 8-27 $kg/cm^2$, and that of Charyang was from 31 $kg/cm^2$ to 8-10 $kg/cm^2$ for storage of 5 months. The hardness of Charyang rapidly decreased as storage period increased. 5. The average rate of black spot(defect rate) of Fuyu measured by a computer image processing system was least in the film 160 by 0.5%, but those in other films was ranged from about 5% to 20% for storage of 5 months. The rate of black spot of Charyang was less than that of Fuyu among most of films. 6. The intensity, hue, and saturation in persimmon color changed according to storage period. Especially, the intensity of persimmon colors decreased as storage period increased, but it was least in the film 160. 7. An integrated long-term storage method of sweet persimmons was suggested in the basis of the experiments and literature reviews.

  • There are some methods to enhance the ‘sweet spot’in loudspeaker-based 3D audio systems. Most of them can be only applied to narrow frequency band inherently. In this paper, we introduce the more robust 3D sound reproduction system which has far wider robust bandwidth. The system applies a sum and difference filter to the conventional three loudspeaker-based one.

  • It has been well known that cross-talk canceller for 3D audio using loudspeakers depends on a listeners position called the sweet-spot. Therefore, new cross-talk canceller was proposed that increases robustness to perturbations such as head movement, reverberations, and different head shapes. It was made up 3 loudspeakers structure to be combined with symmetric and asymmetric speaker geometry. In this paper, we propose new cross-talk canceller using 2 loudspeakers having the same efficiency as existing cross-talk canceller using 3 loudspeakers. The results of the study is verified through the listening tests and also presented a cross-talk cancelling methods for improved 3-D audio production in details.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the experimental machine for the putting strokes. This experimental machine is called Pendulum Putting Machine(PPM). The height of PPM is 75cm and the mass is 10kg. To make the frame of this machine, 24 and 20 diameters of iron pipes were used. Bottom of the frame(bottom girdle) was made with circle shape and top of the frame(top girdle) was made with rectangular shape. Above the top girdle, iron plate($12{\times}17{\times}0.5cm$) was placed to connect the ball bearing. At the top of the frame two ball bearings with axis were placed for the diverse lies of putters and irons. To verify usefulness of this machine, experiments were executed with the PPM. Two major experimental conditions were hitting points(sweet spot, toe side, heel side) and hitting places(bottom, 3cm before bottom, 3cm after bottom). Eleven different cases were tested. The results showed that the diversity of the ball placement(distance and direction) was acceptable(distance range, 2.70-5.87 standard deviation; direction range, 1.71-4.65 standard deviation). Overall the Pendulum Putting Machine is very useful for the study of putting and driving strokes.

  • Between 2010 and 2012, diseases and insect pests of sweet persimmon were surveyed at sweet persimmon export complexes and non-export orchards in Suncheon, Jeonnam Province; Jinju, Changwon (Dongeup and Bukmyeon), and Gimhae, Gyeongnam Province; and Ulzu, Ulsan. The following diseases were found in the sweet persimmon orchards: angular leaf spot (Cercospora kaki), anthracnose (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Colletotrichum acutatum), circular leaf spot (Mycosphaerella nawae), powdery mildew (Phyllactinia kakicola), and gray mold (Botrytis cinerea). Circular leaf spot was the most frequent and serious disease, and C. gloeosporioides and C. acutatum were found on fruits. Thirty-three insect pest species that belonged to 32 genera of 20 families in 5 orders were found in the sweet persimmon orchards; the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae, was also found in the surveyed orchards. Apolygus spinolae, Pseudaulacaspis cockerelli, and Adoxophyes orana were widely found in the surveyed orchards; Spodoptera litura and Homona magnanima were also recorded. Damage by insect pests was low, and the quarantine insect pests peach pyralid moth (Dichocrocis punctiferalis) and persimmon fruit moth (Stathmopoda masinissa) were rarely or not found in the sweet persimmon export complexes. In addition, other quarantine insect pests, such as persimmon false spider mite (Tenuipalpus zhizhilashviliae) and Japanese mealybug (Planococcus kraunhiae), were not detected. These quarantine insect pests were also not found in the sorting places, storage houses, and fruits for export; however, scale insects and two-spotted spider mites were found at a low rate. Although anthracnose (C. acutatum) infested fruit was found in the storage houses, only one in Jinju and Gimhae.

  • Occurrences of diseased sweet flag (Acorus calamus L. var. asiaticus) were found in Chonju and Buan Province, on August 2002. The typical symptoms of the disease affected the leaves, pods, and collar of the infected plants. The leaves or pods became darker brown, then dry rotted, and white fluffy mycelia formed on the lesion. The collar, of the infected plants, formed black spot. The spores grew rapidly on PDA medium. Pathogenic fungi have not been identified clearly, as of yet. These fungi were formed from developed spores, as well as, undeveloped spores. These fungi suggest that Fusarium sp. and Rhizoctonia sp.. The range of temperatures were tested from 5$^{\circ}C$ to 35$^{\circ}C$ for mycelial growth. The optimum temperature for growth was 3$0^{\circ}C$. This is the first report on the fungus disease of sweet flag by some pathogens, in Korea. We would like to do further research for single spore isolation, pathogenity, and characterization of fungi.

  • This paper presents a novel scheme that quickly searches for the sweet spot of multiple array antennas, and locks on to it for high-speed millimeter wavelength transmissions, when communications to another antenna array are disconnected. The proposed method utilizes a modified genetic algorithm, which selects a superior initial group through preprocessing in order to solve the local solution in agenetic algorithm. TDD (Time Division Duplex) is utilized as the transfer method and data controller for the antenna. Once the initial communication is completed for the specific number of individuals, no longer antenna's data will be transmitted until each station processes GA in order to produce the next generation. After reproduction, individuals of the next generation become the data, and communication between each station is made again. Simulation results of 1:1, 1:2, 1:5 array antennas confirmed the efficiency of the proposed method. The 16bit split is 8bit, but it has similar performance as 16bit gene.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to find the optimal direction of the multi beam between each station on the point-to-point link by genetic algorithm. In the proposed method, maximum value in optimal direction on each station is used as a fitness function. The beam of millimeter wave generates a lot of multi-peak because of much influence of noise. About each gene, we simulated this method using 16bit, 32bit, and 32bit split algorithm. 32bit split uses 16bit gene information. Each antenna makes 32bit gene information by adding gene information of two antennas having 16bit gene. Through the proposed method, we could have gotten a good output without 32bit gene information.
