Stable Tracking Control to a Non-linear Process Via Neural Network Model

  • A stable neural network control scheme for unknown non-linear systems is developed in this paper. While the control variable is optimised to minimize the performance index, convergence of the index is guaranteed asymptotically stable by a Lyapnov control law. The optimization is achieved using a gradient descent searching algorithm and is consequently slow. A fast convergence algorithm using an adaptive learning rate is employed to speed up the convergence. Application of the stable control to a single input single output (SISO) non-linear system is simulated. The satisfactory control performance is obtained.

  • This paper deals with the fault detection problem in uncertain linear multivariable systems having both model mismatch and noise. A robust detection presented by Kwon et al.(1994) for SISO systems has been here extended to the multivariable systems are derived. The model mismatch includes here linearization error as well as undermodelling. Comparisons are made with alternative fault detection method which do not account noise. The new method is shown to have good performance.

  • In this paper, the LQG/LTR design method is applied of the third order linear time invariant plant model which is the SISO turret-gun servo-mechanism. The dynamic characteristics and the performance of the LQG/LTR controller are analyzed by the computer simulation, and compared with those of PID controller which has been already applied to the turret servomechanism under the sane design specifications.

  • In this paper, we evaluate the bit error rate (BER) performance for uplink communication of WiBro system when smart antenna technology is employed. It is shown that, by exploiting beamforming technology, smart antenna-based WiBro system shows improved performance by more than 4 dB in SNR compared to single input single output (SISO) system under one-path Rayhleigh fading channel condition.

  • A robust adaptive control method for a stable nonminimum phase SISO system with unmodelled dynamics is proposed. The robust parameter estimation method of the system with bounded output noise and unmodelled dynamics is employed and a parallel structure is proposed to improve the robustness of adaptive control system. The local stability of the proposed system is shown. Computer simulations are done in order to compare the performance of the proposed structure with the basic structure on various circumstance.

  • This paper presents a stability condition for Astrom's minimal variance control(MVC) with mismatch of time delay for a SISO ARMAX model containing time delay. The proof of the condition presented here is based on the characteristic equation in the feedback system and its magnitude. This condition, from easy numerical calculation, is able to find the stability of the feedback system without knowing the real time delay.

  • This paper presents a robust model reference adaptive controller for continuous-time single-input single-output linear time-invariant systems which are subjected to output-dependent disturbances as well as bounded external disturbances. In the derived controller form, an additional output error feedback term is included to over-ride the destabilizing effects by the output-dependent disturbances.

  • In this paper, the adaptive controller for the turret gun is discussed which uses model reference adaptive technique based on the Lyapunov direct method. Turret gun can be decomposed into two time-invariant SISO control systems. One is for the elevation angle control and the other is for the azimuth angle control under the assumption of independence each other. Thus we only consider here about the control loop for the elevation angle.

  • In this paper, though Simith controller is also used, we propose a new system configuration which can be regarded an SISO continuous nth-order plant with time delay of k-times of a sampling period as a linear discrete (n + k)th order plant of which all state variables can be available. Consequently, we can pply linear control system design techniques which do not consider the existence of time delay to the proposed system.

  • This paper describes expansion of the state space pole assignment self-tuning control of SISO systems with system noise and abservation noise to that of MIMO systems. Resursive Prediction Error method is used for both parameter and state estimation in the block controllable canonical form. This simplifies the state feedback law by eliminating the online computation of transformation matrix.
