CuCl 미립자 분산 붕괴산염계 비선형 광학유리에서 매질유리의 상분리와 CuCl 미립자의 석출 특성 (Phase Separation of Matrix Glasses and Precipitation Characteristics of CuCl Nanocrystals in CuCl Doped Borosilicate Glasses for Nonlinear Optical Application)

  • To investigate an effect of phase separation on precipitation characteristics of CuCl nanocrystals in CuCl doped nonlinear optical glasses, borosilicate glass systems with 9 different compositions with ~2wt% of CuCl were selected and CuCl doped glasses were prepared by melting and precipitation method. Microstructural properties of the CuCl doped glasses were analyzed by optical absorption spectroscopy, acid elution test, TEM, and EDXS. While phase separation did not occur in Glass A~D, interconnected and droplet microstructures due to phase separation were found in Glass E, F and Glass G~I, respectively. In the particular composition of the matrix glasses in this study, the precipitation of the CuCl particles was observed in the phase separable glasses, not in phase non-separable glasses. The CuCl particles were precipitated in both silica-rich phase region and boronrich phase region of the glass matrix. In the case of 7.7Na2O-36.6B2O3-52.7SiO2(mole%) glass, the larger CuCl particles than those in the silica-rich phase region were observed in the boron-rich phase region.

Separation of Selenite from Inorganic Selenium Ions using TiO2 Magnetic Nanoparticles

  • A simple and quick separation technique for selenite in natural water was developed using $TiO_2$@$SiO_2/Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles. For the synthesis of nanoparticles, a polymer-assisted sol-gel method using hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) was developed to control particle dispersion in the synthetic procedure. In addition, titanium butoxide (TBT) precursor, instead of the typical titanium tetra isopropoxide, was used for the formation of the $TiO_2$ shell. The synthesized nanoparticles were used to separate selenite ($Se^{4+}$) in the presence of $Se^{6+}$ or selenium anions for the photocatalytic reduction to $Se^0$ atom on the $TiO_2$ shell, followed by magnetic separation using $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles. The reduction efficiency of the photocatalytic reaction was 81.4% at a UV power of 6W for 3 h with a dark adsorption of 17.5% to the nanoparticles, as determined by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The developed separation method can be used for the speciation and preconcentration of selenium cations in environmental and biological analysis.

  • The Sulfur-Iodine(SI) thermochemical hydrogen production process consists of three sections, which are so called the Bunsen reaction section, the $H_2SO_4$ decomposition section and the HI decomposition section. In order to identify the phase separation characteristics in the reaction conditions with the high solubility of $SO_2$, we conducted the Bunsen reaction at the low temperatures, ranging from 283 to 298K, with the $I_2/H_2O$ molar ratios of 2.5/16.0 and 3.5/16.0. The molar ratios of HI/$H_2SO_4$ products obtained from low temperature Bunsen reactions were ca. 2, indicating that there were no side reactions. The amount of reacted $SO_2$ was increased with decreasing the temperature, while the amounts of unreacted $I_2$ and $H_2O$ were decreased. In the phase separation of the products, the amount of a $H_2SO_4$ impurity in $HI_x$ phase was increased with decreasing the temperature, though the temperature has little affected on HI and $I_2$ impurities in $H_2SO_4$ phase.

실리콘 슬러지로부터 리튬전지(電池) 음극용(陰極用) Si-SiC-CuO-C 복합물의 합성(合成) (Synthesis of Si-SiC-CuO-C Composite from Silicon Sludge as an Anode of Lithium Battery)

  • 실리콘 웨이퍼공정에서 발생하는 실리콘 슬러지로부터 리싸이클링 공정으로 Si-SiC 혼합물을 분리 회수한 다음 기계적 합성법으로 Si-SiC-CuO-C 복합물을 제조하였으며, 리튬전지 음극물질로서의 가능성을 조사하였다. 실리콘 슬러지의 주요 불순물은 절삭유, 금속불순물 및 SiC를 들 수 있다. 오일세정-자력선별-산세척으로 절삭유와 금속불순물을 제거한 다음 고에너지 밀링법으로 Si-SiC-CuO-C 복합물을 합성하였다. 복합물의 충방전 용량과 사이클 특성을 조사한 결과, 수명에 따른 용량 유지 특성이 향상된 우수한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 복합물을 구성하는 SiC와 CuO 관련 물질은 실리콘의 부피팽창으로 인한 기계적 파괴 현상을 억제하는 요소로 작용하는 것으로 추정되며, 반면에 Fe 등과 같은 불순물은 전극의 충방전 용량을 감소시키는 요인으로서 전극물질 합성 전에 10 ppm 이내로 제거되어야 하는 것으로 판단된다.

$TiO_2$ 첨가에 따른 붕규산 유리의 분상에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Phase Separation of the Borosilicate Glass by Addition of Titanium Dioxide)

  • The tendency of glass containing titanium-dioxide to separate into two phases can be attributed to a change of the coordination number of titanium from six to four on increase of temperature and to "freezing" of the high temperature four fold coordination on cooling of the melt. Addition of TiO2 to the basic glass 8.7 $Na_2O$ 22.4B2O3 68.9 $SiO_2$ was varied 5 to 25 parts. The phase separation in the temperature range of transformation was examined with each heating temperature and soaking time. As the experimental results, the most distinct phase separation were obtained from alkali extraction method when $TiO_2$ was added 15 parts. The apparant activation energy was 30.5 Kcal/mole by alkali extraction method derived from Arrhenius plots.ius plots.

  • Microporous glasses in the system TiO2-SiO2-Al2O3-B2O3-CaO-Na2O were prepared by the phase-separation technique. Morphology and distribution of pore and specific surface area of glasses heated and leached out at various conditions were investigated by SEM and Porosimeter. Crystallization of glasses heated above transition temperature was also inspected by X-ray diffraction method. When the heating temperature and time increased, the pore size and volume increased, but the specific surface area decreased above the critical temperature. The phase-separation, specific surface area and pore size showed more sensitive change on the variation of heating temperature than of heating time. The specific surface area and micropore volume of porous glasses prepared in this study were about 120-330$m^2$/g and 0.001-0.01cc/g, respectively. Mean pore size of porous glasses were about 20-90$\AA$. Anatase phases was deposited when the parent glass was heat-treated at 75$0^{\circ}C$ for 6hrs.

Magnetostatic Coupling Between two Nanowires of Different Width

  • The magnetostatic interaction between the two magnetic nanowires was studied by using the longitudinal magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE). For this purpose two magnetic nanowires having different widths (400 nm, 800 nm) were fabricated on an Si substrate with electron beam lithography and the lift-off method. Magnetic hysteresis loops measured by MOKE showed double switching behavior, corresponding to the separated switching fields of each wire. The switching field of the narrow wire was greatly affected by the separation between the two wires. Based on how the switching field changes with decreasing separation, it is concluded that the magnetostatic field of the 800-nm wire strongly affects the switching of the 400-nm wire when the separation is less than $0.5{\mu}m$.

  • Aiming at selective adsorption and separation of Y(III) from the Y(III)-Sr(II) group in acid solution, a silica-based TODGA impregnated adsorbent [(TODGA+1-dodecanol)/SiO2-P-F600] has been prepared. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted under the effect of contact time, acid concentration, solution temperature, and adsorption capacity etc. Chromatography recovery of more than 90% Y(III) was successfully achieved under elution with 0.01 M DTPA solution in nitric acid adsorption system, and 0.1 M HCl solution in hydrochloride adsorption system, respectively.

실리콘기판위에 양극접합된 MLCA의 기계적 특성 (Mechanical Characteristics of MLCA Anodic Bonded on Si wafers)

  • This paper describes on anodic bonding characteristics of MLCA(Multi Layer Ceramic Actuator) to Si-wafer using evaporated Pyrex #7740 glass thin-films for MEMS applications. Pyrex #7740 glass thin-films with same properties were deposited on MLCA under optimum RF magneto conditions(Ar 100 %, input power $1\;/cm^2$). After annealing in $450^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr, the anodic bonding of MLCA to Si-wafer was successfully performed at 600 V, $400^{\circ}C$ in - 760 mmHg. Then, the MLCA/Si bonded interface and fabricated Si diaphragm deflection characteristics were analyzed through the actuation test. It is possible to control with accurate deflection of Si diaphragm according to its geometries and its maximum non-linearity is 0.05-008 %FS. Moreover, any damages or separation of MICA/Si bonded interfaces do not occur during actuation test. Therefore, it is expected that anodic bonding technology of MICA/Si wafers could be usefully applied for the fabrication process of high-performance piezoelectric MEMS devices.
