As part of the waterway restoration to renew traditional urban area, this paper is to assume and research Gyoseocheon(Gyoseo waterway) in Late 1960s Cheongju Korea. The main stream of Gyoseocheon flew from Sangjwagol(the head of the valley) of Uam Mt. to the north gate under Cheongju castle at first, and meandering from Sangdang Park, flew through Sudongseongdang and Bangadari Road to Musimcheon since open railroad of 1920s. This waterway, the eco-friendly figure of Gyoseocheon, that flew to inside the downtown with a planted tree and that is open space was so. The sub stream of Gyoseocheon originated in Seoundong and Tapdong were divided into two parts. One was to join the main stream of Gyoseocheon on Sangdang Park via Munhwadong, and the other was to join the sub stream of Musimcheon at northwest corner via south and west gate of Cheongju castle. This waterway as branch sewer were built into the road culvert.

The purpose of this study is to find important factors for establishment of masterplanner operating model in residents' participation regeneration project suitable for small provincial city compared with Seoul city's which were already operated these days. The study showed the following results: 1) Conditions required for masterplanners are professional, regionality, sustainability, balance, independence. 2) Regionality and professionality can be guaranteed by expert-recommendation and perform manual suitable for character of project and regional conditions. 3) Conditions required for masterplanners are applied flexibly depending on the size and duration of project.

The purpose of this study is to provide the method of saving the construction cost per unit area of the New Hanok using the inner space of a roof as a floor space with a structural modification of it's roof. The proportion of a roof of the Traditional Hanok accounts for about a half of it's elevation, so it is an essential element of it. But, compare to the whole construction cost of the Traditional Hanok, it costs over a half of expenses to build it. Recently, at the traditional building type, it is found that the inner space of a roof of it is used as a floor space with a structural modification of it's roof. It can be divided into two types, the storage type and the living type. The New Hanok at downtown can accommodate various new lifestyle, so the length of it's Yangtong is longer than that of the Traditional Hanok. When we adjust the proportion of the traditional Hanok to the New Hanok, the height of the column and the roof of the New Hanok becomes also higher than those of the traditional Hanok. So, using the upper part of the column and the roof of the New Hanok, we can make the inner space of a roof of the New Hanok as a floor space -like a bed room, tea room, personal work space and a storage- vertically connect with the 1st floor as the main living area. As a result, it is expected to save the unit construction cost of the New Hanok and has an extensity of space when we build the New Hanok at downtown.
We compared the spatial distribution of several heat stress indices (the Wet-Bulb Globe Temperature(WBGT) index, Environmental Stress Index (ESI), and Modified Discomfort Index(MDI)) for the heat wave of June 6~August 26, 2016, in Daegu. We calculated the heat stress indices using data from the high density urban climate observation network in Daegu. The observation system was established in February. 2013. We used data from a total of 38 air temperature observation points (23 thermometers and 18 automatic weather stations). The values of the heat stress indices indicated that the danger level was very high from 0900-2000h in downtown Daegu. The daily maximum value of the WBGT was greater than or equal to $35^{\circ}C$. The differences in the heat stress indices from downtown and rural areas were higher in the daytime than at nighttime. The maximum difference was about 4 before and after 1400h, and the time variations of the heat stress indices corresponded well. Thus, we were able to confirm that the ESI and MDI can be substituted with the WBGT index.

Recently, ground subsidence frequently occurs in downtown area. The major causes of the subsidence on the subsurface were the damages of the water supply and sewer pipelines and excavation works in adjacent areas, etc. Because of these various factors, it is not easy to analyze the tendency of occurrence of ground subsidence. The purpose of this study is to clarify the effect of ground subsidence by the change of the fine particle content and ground water level and to establish the ground subsidence mechanism. In this study, a model soil-box was manufactured to simulate the failure of the old sewer pipe which is one of the causes on ground subsidence. And a model test was conducted to investigate the effects of fine contents and ground water level on the cavity occurrence. From the test results, firstly the higher the ground water level, the faster the primary cavity is formed as the seepage stress increases. As a result, the secondary cavity and the ground subsidence rapidly progress due to the relaxation of the surrounding ground. The total amount of discharged soil was decreased as the fine content increased.
Background and objective: Urbanization caused a reduction in urban green space and a lack of community spaces. An attempt to solve these problems, urban gardens, have become popular and are currently being implemented in various downtown areas. However, urban gardens have some inadequate aspects from a visual or landscape perspective. The goal of this study was to examine the possibility of an aesthetic and productive garden space by introducing cultivation methods through the planting system design process. Methods: The design process using plants was classified and presented to suggest the importance of the landscape and aesthetic value. An urban garden space was designed according to the perspective of 'production scenery' and 'participation aesthetics'. According to the characteristics of the plant, urban gardens were divided into vertical type (corn, millet, sorghum), climbing type (kidney bean, cucumber, bitter gourd), and runner type (melon, watermelon, peanut). After classifying plants according to the shape of the root, the structure supporting climbing was installed and the crops were cultivated in an upright form with a tunnel. Results: In the designed cultivation, each crop cooperates, without invading each other's space. Compared with the conventional cultivation, there was little difference in production, and management was made more convenient since weed outbreaks were effectively suppressed while runner type crops cover over the land's surface. Since the positions of each crop are clearly distinguished, the aesthetic value is improved by offering a sense of rhythm with a balanced design. Conclusion: The results suggest that the cultivation methods through the plant system design process have aesthetic as well as productive value, and the design using plants, an infinite living resource, could lead to an expansion of the design field. Moreover, it would enable a sustainable symbiosis between industry and environment. There is potential for the design industry to make significant progress through collaboration with agriculture, horticulture, and landscape architecture.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the usage of eco-friendly elements in Korean traditional architecture to evaluate Hanok(Unjoru and Jinwondang) according to Green Building Certification Criteria(G-SEED). The results of this study were as follows; Unjoru and Jinwondang was not enough to obtain certification points. From Site usage and Traffic category, Jinwondang gets more points than Unjoru. It's because Jinwondang is located in downtown Seoul, so it gets more points of traffic and neighborhood facility. From Energy and Environmental Pollution category, Jinwondang gets more points of energy performance than Unjoru, too. It's because Jinwondang secured insulation performance of wall and windows using insulator and glass. From Resources category, Unjoru gets more points than Jinwondang. It shows that modern Hanok was limited using natural resources. From Ecological Environments category, Jinwondang is located urban area, it's difficult to secure the open space, so Unjoru gets more points than Jinwondang. If Modern Honok installs a system that can getting point and secure insulation performance, it will be certificated according to G-SEED.

Noise and vibration generated at construction sites become serious issues because of bigger construction projects and growing use of heavy equipment. Especially in downtown construction, noise and vibration easily exceed the legal standards that can suffer the most of surrounding residents. The number of complaints by the residents who are exposed to the noise increases as their consciousness grows. However, the Korean regulations for the construction noise and vibration only present the overall limits for target areas and times zones, and this make it difficult to take effective measures. Also in rural area, disputes between construction sites and residents arise, but the dispute resolution or taking measures are difficult because clear standards concerning cause-and-effect, estimation of effective levels, calculation of damages, and future precautions and examples lack. This paper describes legal standards regarding the noise and vibration and presents judging standards for the physical damages. This paper also introduces example public complaints that happened at Daewoo construction sites to describe the problems in the existing law and further to enable smooth construction progresses by emphasizing the seriousness of public complaints.
This study was conducted to find out the weight control experiences, body image perception and eating disorder status of high school students in Yantai City, Shandong Province, China. The subjects of the study were 457 high school students in Yantai City. The results were as follows. The ratio of underweight and overweight and obesity of the subjects were 20.0% and 12.6% respectively. And 35% of the subjects had weight control experiences. There were significant differences according to the students' gender, location and BMI. In body image perception, the subjects who were normal and underweight overestimated their body figure, and the subjects who were overweight and obese underestimated their body figure. The girls wanted to have extremely skinny figure than standard figure and the degree of dissatisfactions with their figure was high. In the case of overweight and obese students, it showed a high degree of dissatisfaction of their body image. The ratio of the eating disorder group and eating disorder risk group were 7% and 19.3%, Compared to the students in rural areas, downtown students had significantly higher ratio of eating disorder. In conclusion, the education of healthy body weight and body image is necessary to the students in Yantai City, China. Especially the female students who live in downtown are considered to be the most important subjects of nutrition education.
Now in order to overcome the weakest points of the rural areas of the city of Kimje and, transform them into rural cultural villages which have local governing systems suitable to new localization age and activate this plan, we selected Daesan Village as a model village which had shown a lot of potentials in the basic research and studied it dividing it into the former part and the latter part. We studied Daesan village in the former part focusing on state analysis and basic ideas and in the latter part focusing on master plan and detail planning. We can summarize the conclusion like the followings. 1. Daesan Village located 8 kilometer away from the downtown Kimje and the city of Iksan respectably has comparatively good environment of good sunny place as an open field whose surrounding configuration of the ground consists of farming lands and low hills in front and rear. It has 38 farming households in all. 2. Human environment(인문환경); the village road whose width is about 4 meters is forming a flow system forking off into three. There is a route bus which operates three times a day even into the inside of the village. The main sources of revenue are vegetables in facilities, fruits and floriculture. Their average revenue is about 10.5 million won. 3. Here in DaeSan Village a legend dealing with Teasan literally meaning a big mountain consist of th village's tradition and you can see the tombs of a very faithful son and Anwi an army general in the age of the Japanese Invasion of Korea of 1592 to 1598 inside the village. 4. 85 out of the eitire population 141 whose age are over 20 showed very positive attitudes in a questionnaire about, making the village a cultural one and its development. 5. The basic of planned ideas is to increase the revenue of the farming household by making the village a professional farming one which has a state-of the-art production facility and agricultural technique. It is to make the village the one where people can enjoy the sense of the rural life and the farmer can enjoy their lives through consumptive and consistant leisure and resting activities. 6. We are planning to make entrance space, life space, rest and sport space, and cultural space considering the characteristics of the village and the demand of the resident. We are also planning to make tile entire city of Kimje an information transmitting base in short and long term perspectives. 7. DaeSan Village was planned as a place where tradition and the future exist together. On the basis of this concept we planned future programs for Daesan Village and in the latter part of the study master plans and detail plans will be continued.the regional agricultural condition. The development permissions were only during the period of restricted to use ($1979.12{\sim}1993.11$). We propose that the authority of development permission should be given to the local autonomy government, because the local government has the knowledge of its individual agricultural conditions.
