Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the perception of role transition from a student nurse to a registered nurse among senior year nursing students and to examine factors affecting their role transition. Methods: A descriptive survey with convenience sampling was conducted in four nursing colleges in Seoul, South Korea. Data were collected using a self-administrated questionnaire. Four instruments including role transition, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships and anxiety during clinical practicum were used and the students'demographics were also collected. A multiple logistic regression was used to identify predictors for the role transition. Results: A total of 233 nursing students were surveyed and final analysis was conducted utilizing 226 participants. Mean point of perceived role transition (5 point scale) was $3.34{\pm}0.44$. In a multiple regression model, high self-esteem, good interpersonal relationships, low anxiety during clinical practicum, and high satisfaction in college life were significant predictors of a smooth transition (Adj. $R^2$=.32, F=22.28, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings suggest that role transition from a student nurse to a registered nurse is facilitated through the establishment of programs to improve self-esteem and interpersonal relationships and to reduce anxiety during clinical practicum.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explain the role transition process to nurse case managers (NCMs) for Medical-aid beneficiaries in Korea. Methods: Fourteen NCMs were interviewed regarding their experiences of becoming proficient in the new role of case manger. Data were analyzed through the application of grounded theory. Results: 'Taking root in a barren land' was the core category explaining the role transition process of NCMs. They engaged in four stages: launching, trial and error, proficiency, and wait-and-see stages. NCMs showed not only fear but also passion for case management practice. Despite their passion and effort, NCMs went through a period of trial and error. After becoming skilled, NCMs went through a stage of wait-and-see often because of job insecurity related to temporary position or few opportunities for promotion. Factors influencing NCMs' role transition process included their understanding of client characteristics, belief in case management, and support from their colleagues and families. Conclusion: NCMs experience many challenges in the process of becoming proficient NCMs. To help with their role transition, there is a need for education programs, preceptorship programs, research on their roles and functions, and regulation for securing NCMs' employment and career stability.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the interrelationship between work role and fatherhood role of young men who experienced the transition to fatherhood within the last two years. The effect of transition timing on the relationship between work role and fatherhood was also explored. In-depth, qualitative data were gathered from thirty men. The results showed that there exist differences in socio-demographic characteristics among timing groups. Differences were also found in the nature of career demand between 'late' fathers and 'early' or 'on-time' fathers. However, no clear effects of timing of fatherhood on men's parenting behavior and attitude toward fathering and the relationship between work role and fatherhood were found.

The purpose of this study was to exame the effect of the planned indoctrination program on the role transition of new graduate nurses in one educational hospital located in Seoul. The planned in doctrination program was a 1-month program and consisted of 3 days induction and 22 days orientation- socialization. The simulated control group pretest-posttest research was designed for this study. One hundred and twenty subjects were selected from the new graduate nurses who were employed by the Seoul National Univerty Hospital. Sixty of them were assigned to the pretest, and the rest to the posttest. To collect the data on role transition, the researcher developed the instrument, measuring 3 differert areas : inducction, orientation, and socialization. The reliability of the instrument were induction area's Chronbach ${\alpha}$ .8291, orientation area's Chronbach ${\alpha}$ .9809, and soialization area's Chronbach ${\alpha}$ .8524. The data were collected from Aprial to October 1995 at three different times: (1) immediately before indoctrination program began, (2) immediately after the program ended, and (3) 2 months after the program ended. In addition to the self-report of the subjects, their superiors filled out the same instrument on role transition to compare the scores between the subjects and their superiors at 2 months after the program. T-test was utilized to test differences between the means of pre- and post-tests. The result of this study are as follows : 1. There was a significant difference in the mean scores between before and immediately after the indoctrination program (t=-12.65, P=.000). There were significant differences in all 3 areas of role transition. 2. There was a significant difference in the mean scores between immediately after and 2 months after the program (t=-2.91, P=.004), Among 3 areas of role transition, however, only in the orientation area was there significant difference (t=-3.26, P=.001). 3. There was no significant difference in total mean scores between subjects' self-report and their superiors' report 2 months after the program ended (t =.97, p= .335). Among 3 different areas, however, there was a significant difference in the induction area (t=2.41, P=.018). 4. There was significant difference in mean scores between the group Of 3-year diploma and 4-year bachelor's degree only at pretest (t=-2.56, P= .013), but not at two posttests (t=-1.08, P=.250: t=-.34, P=.733). In conclusion, the planned indoctrination program for new graduate nurses was proved to be effective on the role transition in the study. But the result in the study showed that the indoctrination program had not equal effect On 3 different areas of role transition. There were significant differences in the scores between after and 2 months after the program only in the orientation area. These suggest that indoctrination program should be developed more focusing on induction and socialization areas to help new graduate nurses have a high morale and enthusiasm for the organization. Also contineous program to facilitate induction and socialization might be necessary for them to have a successful role transition.
The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships between nursing competency and emotional intelligence and nurse role transition of nursing students. Study participants were 134 nursing students of university in Chungnam province. Data were collected with the use of self-administered questionnaires from November 1 to December 10, 2018. Collected data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 20.0 program. Nurse role transition of nursing students showed positive correlation with nursing competency(r=.79, p<.001) and emotional intelligence(r=.59, p<.001). Factors influencing nurse role transition of nursing students were nursing competency(${\beta}=.66$, p<001) and emotional intelligence(${\beta}=.22$, p=.001), which accounted 67.8%. These results indicate that various educational programs to increase nursing competency and emotional intelligence of nursing students are needed to increase nurse role transition. Studies on the effectiveness of provided programs are also needed to provide more effective programs.
The role of the strain energy and phase stability in the diffuse phase transition have been investigated in the highly disordered solid solution, (Pb1-xBax)(Zr0.4Ti0.6)O3 (0.2 x 0.4). X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that tetragonality (c/a) decreases with the increasing Ba content. Also as the Ba content increases, phase transition becomes more diffuse and at the same time dielectric relaxation as a function of measured frequencies in the 1KHz-10MHz range occurs very pronouncedly. In the Ba content range, 0.2 x 0.35, hysteresis loops are routinely observed and the loop is observed to narrow shape as the Ba content increases but becomes very slim at 40mol% Ba content. Moreover thermal analysis shows that there is no abrupt change in the thermal expansion coefficient below the apparent transition temperature at which dielectric constant becomes maximum. From the above results, it has been concluded that creation of the strain energy due to the distorthion that occurred during the phase transition suppresses diffuse phase transition.

This study intends to identify the effect of the simulation-based adult nursing education on resilience, clinical competence, and role transition of nursing students. Similar experimental study of a single group pretest-posttest design was used to investigate the effects of the program. The study was conducted from March to June, 2017 on senior nursing students at the university in M city who take an 'Integrated nursing practice I' class for the semester. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires and data of 52 participants were analyzed. The data were analyzed by frequencies, paired t-test and pearson's correlation coefficient using SPSS 21.0 program. As a result, the effectiveness of the simulation-based adult nursing education on resilience, clinical competence, and role transition were found. The result of this study showed that the improvement after simulation education was significant in resilience(t=-2.51, p=.016), clinical competence(t=-4.18, p<.001), and role transition(t=-2.89, p=.006). Resilience was found to be positively correlated with clinical competence(r=.464, p<.001) and role transition(r=.473, p<.001). These findings imply the value of simulation education to enhance the resilience, clinical competence, and role transition of nursing students. In the future, more studies should be conducted in the same group with control group to validate the effectiveness of variables.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the satisfaction of newly graduated nurses with educational programs and their experiences in role transition. Methods: Data were collected from November 1 to December 15, 2018 and 483 new graduate nurses working at 15 tertiary hospitals and 10 general hospitals participated. For data collection, self-report questionnaires including the Casey-Fink Graduate Nurse Experience Survey tool and satisfaction with education were used. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance. Results: Satisfaction with education ranged from 3.09 to 3.27, and satisfaction with preceptors was 3.45(maximum 4). The skill that new nurses ranked as most difficult during the first 3 months was charting/documentation, and throughout a whole year, the top 4 difficult skills were cardiopulmonary resuscitation/emergency response, ventilator care, end-of-life care, and prioritization/time management. In comfort/confidence, new graduates felt most comfortable with support and least comfortable with patient safety. More than 50 percent of new graduates experienced stress during role transition, and the most frequently experienced stressors were related to job performance and personal life. Levels of satisfaction with education and comfort/confidence differed according to the hospital type and number of preceptors for new nurses. Conclusion: In order to facilitate the transition of new graduate nurses to professional nurse, an extended period of education, systematic and standardized transition programs, and continuous support during the first year of practice are required.
The purpose of this study was to identify transition conditions, health behavior and indicators of healthy transitions among middle-aged women based on Schumacher & Meleis(1994) transition model for developing intervention program for their health promotion. A convenience sample of 221 women aged 40-60 was obtained in Jung-Gu, Seoul and they were asked to complete the questionnaires, which consisted of modified health-promoting lifestyle profile(HPLP), knowledge of menopause, physical well-being, emotional well-being, modified women's role integration protocol (WRIP), Beck's Depression Inventory(BDI), and indicators of healthy transition with subcategories such as subjective well-being, role mastery and well-being of interrelationship. The results were as follows: 1. Women had a mean age of 47.53 years. More than half(53.39%) of the women had jobs and 88.69 % had their spouses, Of 221 women, 51.13 % were premenopausal, 19.91% were perimenopausal, and 28.96% were postmenopausal. 2. Women scored lower on health responsibility and exercise than on self actualization, nutrition and interpersonal support among subcategories of health behavior measured the modified HPLP. Only 11.98% of respondents had breast-self examination and 42.66% had pap smear for screening cancer. 3. In transition conditions, women had poor knowledge about menopause and median level of physical well-being, emotional well-being and stress. 15.45% of the women had clinical depression. 4. As for the outcome index of the transition model, the mean of indicators of healthy transition was 3.69(possible range 1-5). 5. The levels of education and economic and the menstrual status were significantly related to physical well-being, depression and stress in the categories of transition conditions. The total score of health behavior correlated negatively with depression. The total score of indicators of healthy transition correlated with physical well-being, emotional well-being, stress, and depression in the categories of transition conditions. In conclusion, these findings suggested a profile of fragile middle-aged women and contributed to developing the community-based intervention program for health promotion.

This study was conducted to investigate the mediating effect of resilience in the relationship between satisfaction with clinical placement and role transition among nursing students. A descriptive survey with convenience sampling was conducted among senior year nursing students from two nursing colleges in C province. Data were collected using a self-administrated questionnaire, and a total of 135 samples were analyzed with the IBM SPSS 21.0 program using multiple regression by Baron's and Kenny's method. As a result, resilience was found to have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between satisfaction with clinical placement and role transition. The statistical significance of the mediating effect was verified using bootstrapping, and these variables explained 66% of role transition among nursing students. These results imply that promoting nursing students' resilience can be a valuable strategy to support successful role transition for nursing students.
